
Ministry orders vacating of West Doha Chalets by March 31
KUWAIT CITY, March 4: The Ministry of Finance announced today that it has begun sending notifications through the 'Sahel' application to vacate the West Doha chalets and hand them over to the ministry by March 31 at the latest. This action follows a letter received from the Kuwait Municipality in January, along with Municipal Council Resolution No. (MB/F 6/164/06/2024 D 3), which approves the allocation of the site from the borders of the West Doha station to the borders of the Jahra Nature Reserve for the implementation of the Jahra Waterfront Project (Corniche).
In a statement, the ministry clarified that it will proceed with evacuating 116 chalets and handing them over to the Kuwait Municipality once all contracts with the chalet users have been officially terminated.

Sahel app surpasses 100 million transactions since its 2021 launch
KUWAIT CITY, June 3: The spokesperson for the unified government e-services application (Sahel), Yousef Kazem, announced Tuesday that the platform has completed over 100 million electronic transactions since its launch on September 15, 2021. He noted that the total number of notifications sent through Sahel has exceeded 282 million. He thanked all participating government agencies for their cooperation and competition in launching services through the app, highlighting their shared commitment to digital transformation and improving the efficiency of government performance. Kazem also praised the strong support of Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar, noting the Minister's continuous follow-up on the app's development. He emphasized that Sahel is undergoing ongoing improvements on both technical and service levels to ensure a smooth, integrated user experience. He stressed the importance of enhancing user experience by expanding the app's "user journeys" to include key life events such as marriage, residency, and obtaining lifetime home documents. This approach aims to deliver a comprehensive digital experience that supports improved government performance based on the highest standards of security and reliability.

Kuwait moves to align tax, investment policies with Qatar, Saudi Arabia
KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance signed two separate agreements on Sunday with its counterparts in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Noura Al-Fassam, affirmed in a press statement following the signings that the ministry is committed to strengthening economic collaboration within the GCC and providing all necessary means to achieve deeper economic integration among member states. Minister Al-Fassam represented Kuwait in the signing ceremonies. Representing Saudi Arabia was Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan. KUWAIT: The Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC) has signed a contract with the Kuwait Financial Centre (Markaz) to develop a major new entertainment and tourism project in Jahra, signaling a key step in enhancing the area's infrastructure and visitor experience. According to a press release issued Thursday, the project aims to become a vibrant destination that contributes to Kuwait's broader tourism development goals. Markaz will bring its investment and development expertise to ensure the project's financial and operational sustainability. The statement didn't provide further details about the nature of the project. Jahra has emerged as a key area of interest for entertainment investments in recent years. This includes the Jahra Waterfront Project, also known as 'Al-Corniche,' which was approved by the Municipal Council in October 2024.
