Donald Trump threatens to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's US citizenship
The news comes after she criticised his administration's handling of weather forecasting agencies in the wake of the deadly Texas floods.
"Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her citizenship," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
"She is a threat to humanity, and should remain in the wonderful country of Ireland, if they want her. God bless America!"
Under US law, a president cannot revoke the citizenship of an American born in the United States. O'Donnell was born in New York.
O'Donnell moved to Ireland earlier this year with her 12-year-old son after the start of the president's second term. She said in a March TikTok video that she would return home "when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America".
O'Donnell responded to Trump's threat in two posts on her Instagram account, saying that the US president opposes her because she "stands in direct opposition with all he represents".
Trump's disdain for O'Donnell dates back to 2006 when O'Donnell, a comedian and host on The View at the time, mocked Trump over his handling of a controversy concerning a winner of the Miss USA pageant.

Jon Stewart spoofs Elmo's X account getting hacked
We have seen Elmo of 'Sesame Street' in a variety of lights, but never as an alt-right supporter. After the beloved character's X account was hacked, Jon Stewart decided to have some fun with a look-alike puppet of Elmo on the 'The Daily Show' on Monday. The talk show host reminded the audience with a photo that he had worked with the famed muppet years ago and said he was 'shocked' by the tweets. Stewart, voicing the 'Elmo' puppet, claimed that he was hacked after someone 'guessed Elmo's password was Elmo! Elmo123. Elmo knows passwords should have more numbers, but Elmo only knows three numbers.' Stewart soon got the 'truth,' insisting Elmo needed to take responsibility for his actions. 'It was Elmo, but Elmo was radicalized by the manosphere. Elmo is part of the male loneliness epidemic,' Stewart as the puppet said. 'Elmo was doing his own research on flu shots. Six hours later, because of the algorithm, Elmo was moderating the QAnon Discord chat and building homemade bombs.' After Stewart reminded him of his influence on children, the muppet clapped back. 'Once again, the so-called tolerant left policing speech that's inconvenient to their woke dogma,' he said. 'Who's the real puppet now, Jon? You! You're the real puppet.' They then got to the heart of the matter after Stewart accused the character of sharing 'alt-right talking point word salad.' 'Elmo's alt-right,' the puppet said, joking he was pandering to save funding for public broadcasting and children's education programs. 'No reason to cancel Elmo's funding then.' President Donald Trump has encouraged Congress to revoke funding for PBS, the birthplace of 'Sesame Street,' accusing them of a liberal bias. 'Elmo can't go back on the streets, Jon! You have no idea what it's like,' Stewart said as the puppet. 'Elmo's too pretty to live under a bridge, Jon.'

'It is important that they be independent.'

Obama slams Big Law attorneys who won't fight Trump because they want to 'finish that kitchen rehab' at their Hamptons homes
Former President Barack Obama took aim at Big Law firms that have tried to work with President Donald Trump. He said some firms capitulated to protect their attorneys' careers and lavish lifestyles. Some firms have struck deals with Trump and promised to do pro bono legal work for conservative causes. Former President Barack Obama ripped Big Law firms for caving to the Trump administration just to protect their careers and fund their lavish lifestyles. Obama was speaking at a private fundraiser in New Jersey on Friday when he expressed disappointment at how some of the country's top law firms had "set aside the law" in the face of President Donald Trump's attacks. Obama said some lawyers were giving way to Trump not because they were "going to be thrown in jail, but because they might lose a few clients and might not be able to finish that kitchen rehab at their Hampton house." "I'm not impressed," Obama said, per remarks obtained by MSNBC. Obama's ties to Big Law go back to his Harvard Law School days. After his first year of law school, the former president worked as a summer associate at Sidley & Austin. Before entering politics, Obama worked as a civil rights attorney at the litigation firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Since February, Trump has issued executive orders targeting Big Law firms like Paul Weiss, Perkins Coie, and Covington & Burling. In his orders, Trump accused the firms of weaponizing the judicial system and stripped them of their security clearances. He also ordered reviews of each firm's contracts with the government. Some law firms, such as Paul Weiss and Kirkland & Ellis, struck deals with Trump and promised to do pro bono legal work for conservative causes. Others, like Perkins Coie and WilmerHale, chose to fight back and filed lawsuits against the Trump administration. In his remarks, Obama took aim at universities that chose to find room for compromise with Trump. Obama's alma mater, Columbia University, gave in to the administration's demands after it slashed $400 million in federal funding. The Trump administration said the cuts were because of the university's failure to combat anti-semitism when protests over Israel's war in Gaza erupted on campus. "If your core mission, if your core value is to teach, you may teach without compromising values of academic independence. Yeah, you may lose some grant money temporarily. That's why you have those big endowments," Obama said on Friday. Obama has continued to be a vocal critic of Trump and his administration. Last month, Obama told attendees at The Connecticut Forum on June 17 that the US was on the verge of becoming an autocracy under Trump. "We're not there yet completely, but I think that we are dangerously close to normalizing behavior like that," Obama said. Representatives for Obama did not respond to requests for comment from Business Insider. Read the original article on Business Insider
