The party's Working Committee met under the chairmanship of party president Farooq Abdullah at the party headquarters and unanimously adopted seven resolutions addressing political, security, and civil rights issues.
'The Working Committee unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's special status. The Committee reiterated that this is central to the aspirations and dignity of the people and must be addressed without further delay and we will continue to fight for its restoration,' the the resolution on the J-K's special status issue reads.
In August 2019, the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, repealed Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, effectively ending the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Condemning the terror attack in Pahalgam and continued cross-border shelling, the first resolution expressed deep sorrow over the loss of civilian lives and paid tribute to deceased party workers and activists.
'The Working Committee strongly condemned the horrific Baisaran attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent individuals, including a young Kashmiri, Syed Adil Hussain Shah. It also denounced the continued cross-border shelling that took the lives of 23 innocent civilians The Committee expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families. The Working Committee also demanded immediate restoration of statehood, referencing assurances made in Parliament, 'The Working Committee also urged the Government of India to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir immediately, as promised on the floor of Parliament and repeatedly echoed in the public domain and also as committed by the constitution bench of the Supreme Court.'
The Committee also welcomed the announcement of a 'ceasefire' and called upon both the countries to 'uphold peace and explore long-lasting, peaceful solutions to end violence.'
The resolution mention that the party also reiterated its commitment to its manifesto, vowing to 'uphold justice, peace, and people's rights through democratic means.'
Acknowledging public solidarity, the committee praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir for showing compassion to stranded tourists and unequivocally rejecting violence.
It warned the government against actions that could deepen alienation, such as 'arbitrary arrests, harassment of youth, targeted use of bulldozers, and intimidation of media.'
It further cautioned that 'arbitrary arrests, harassment of youth, targeted use of bulldozers, and intimidation of legitimate media voices will only alienate the very people who have stood firmly for peace and against violence.'
In its final resolution, the NC condemned the harassment of Kashmiris across India, particularly students and traders, calling on state governments to protect their rights and ensure their safety.
'The Working Committee expressed serious concern over the reports of harassment faced by students, traders, and residents from Jammu and Kashmir in various parts of the country. It strongly condemned their selective targeting in the aftermath of recent events. The Committee called upon all state governments to ensure the safety, dignity, and protection of the lives and property of all people from Jammu and Kashmir living or working in other parts of India,' the resolution read. CPI(M-L) likely to contest around 45 seats in Bihar Assembly election

The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), an ally of the Opposition Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in Bihar, is planning to contest around 45 seats of the total 243 in the Assembly election due later this year. The CPI(M-L) will also launch a campaign, 'Badlo Sarkar-Badlo Bihar' (change the government, change Bihar)', across the State soon. Addressing mediapersons in Patna on Tuesday (June 10, 2025), CPI(M-L) national general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said: 'Our party has been making preparations to contest 40-45 Assembly seats in the upcoming election. In the coming days, there would be talks on seat sharing and the agendas on which the Mahagathbandhan would contest the poll.' Won 12 in 2020 election In the last 2020 Assembly election, the party won 12 seats out of 19 it contested. The CPI(M-L), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) together won 16 out of the total 29 seats in the election. The CPI had contested six seats, while the CPI(M) fought on four seats. Both won two seats each. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the CPI(M-L) won two seats of Ara and Karakat of the total 40 seats. 'No governance' The CPI(M-L) slammed the NDA governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the State on national security and law and order issues. 'Today there is no government as such in the State. Law and order has collapsed and the people of the State are caught between crime and corruption,' Mr. Bhattacharya alleged. 'Cases of rape have become common, and feudal atrocities have increased in the name of development and good governance in the State. People of the State now are trying to get rid of this oppressive government,' he said. The party leader said the CPI(M-L) would run the Badlo Sarkar-Badlo Bihar campaign from June 18 to June 27, especially in the four regions of Shahabad, Saran-Champaran, Magadh, and Muzaffarpur to Darbhanga. Calls for special session The CPI(M-L) leader criticised the Modi-led government over its foreign policy too. 'The Modi government had sent seven delegations to 32 countries (following Operation Sindoor), but India's international isolation continues. They [the Central government] should call a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terrorist incident and the situation thereafter,' he said. 'The BJP-led NDA government has weakened the country on every front, especially on issues related with national security and foreign policy,' he said. On the ongoing (anti-Maoist) 'Operation Kagar' in Chhattisgarh, Mr. Bhattacharya said: 'It's all state- sponsored violence. The five Left parties of the country have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9 demanding an immediate stay on the ongoing operation.' Polit Bureau member Dhirendra Jha, party legislators Gopal Ravidas and Sandeep Saurabh, party MLC Sashi Yadav, and senior State leaders K.D. Yadav and Umesh Singh were present on the occasion.

AC Temperature New Rule: Soon, You Cant Lower Your AC Temperature Below 20 Degrees, Announces Power Minister

AC Temperature New Rule: Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday shared that the government has made a bold move in the direction of energy conservation and is moving towards a standardised temperature for the air conditioners. The decision comes amid the growing power demand in India as most parts of the country are reeling under an intense heatwave with temperatures touching 46-47 degrees in certain cities. Addressing the media on the occasion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi government, Khattar said that a new experiment is being done and will be rolled out once feedback is received. "A new experiment in temperature standardization is being conducted in the direction of energy conservation. Under this, the AC temperature will be limited to a minimum of 20 degrees and a maximum of 28 degrees," he said. The power minister said that the standardised temperature in India is still lower than that of Italy and Japan. "In many countries, the minimum standardised temperature is higher than that of India. In Japan, it's around 26-27 degrees while in Italy, it's 23 degrees. However, in India, we have kept it at 20 degrees and that too with much hesitation (fearing backlash from people)," said Manohar Lal Khattar. The power ministry said in its report that the Minimum Energy Performance Standards Air Conditioners, Ceiling Fans, and Refrigerators have been upgraded in the country to help reduce electricity bills. Union Minister Manohar Lal said that it is the government's goal to make power accessible to everyone and at all times and the government is aiming for 100% electrification of households across the country. He declared that India has become power-sufficient meeting all its power demands and is well on the path of becoming a power-surplus country. He shared that India successfully met its peak power demand of 241 GW on 9th June, 2025. He stated that in an unprecedented feat, India added its highest-ever generation capacity of 34 GW during 2024-25, with renewable energy accounting for 29.5 GW. The nation's total installed capacity now stands at 472.5 GW, up from 249 GW in 2014. He also shared that India's national energy shortage has drastically reduced to a mere 0.1% as of April 2025.
