Chicago Bulls 2025-26 schedule by the numbers, from NBA Cup games to back-to-backs

Chicago Tribune19 hours ago
The Chicago Bulls on Thursday announced the entire 82-game schedule for the 2025-26 season, giving fans a road map for the coming year of NBA basketball.
The Bulls will open Oct. 22 at home against the Detroit Pistons, followed by a road game against the Orlando Magic on Oct. 25. They finish the regular season April 12 in Dallas against the Mavericks.
Here's a by-the-numbers guide to the schedule.
The Bulls will play four games in the group stage of the 2025 NBA Cup. These games will count both toward the regular-season record in addition to determining which teams advance to the quarterfinals of the in-season tournament.
As part of East Group C, the Bulls will face the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets in the group stage. They will play host to the Knicks on Oct. 31 and Heat on Nov. 21 and travel to the Bucks on Nov. 7 and Hornets on Nov. 28.
The winners of each group — in addition to two wild-card teams — will advance to the knockout round. Higher-seeded teams will host quarterfinal games, while the semifinals and championship game will be held Dec. 12-14 in Las Vegas.
The Bulls did not advance out of the group stage of the NBA Cup in the first two iterations of the tournament. If they do not advance again this season, they will play two additional regular-season games on Dec. 11 or Dec. 12 and Dec. 14 or Dec. 15.
Only three Bulls games will be nationally televised — and only one of those games will be available on cable.
The Dec. 1 game against the Magic will be available on Peacock, and the Feb. 5 game against the Toronto Raptors will be available on Amazon Prime. The Jan. 16 game against the Brooklyn Nets will be the lone ESPN broadcast of the season. All three games are on the road.
The remaining 79 games will be available exclusively on CHSN, which will not be provided free over the air this year. CHSN is available through Comcast and DirecTV in addition to a direct-to-consumer app.
The Bulls will not play a single game on any of the major holidays the NBA is attempting to make centerpieces of the league calendar — Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The sole holiday fixture for the Bulls will take place on New Year's Eve with a home game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Bulls will play 13 back-to-backs, including a pair of home games Nov. 21-22 against the Heat and Washington Wizards. Only two of the back-to-backs feature home and away games.

NBA schedule 2025-26: Breaking it down by the numbers, including most back-to-backs

The NBA schedule for the 2025-26 season is out. We've broken down the league's return to NBC and debut on Peacock and the more than 100 games you can watch across this network, as well as the 20 must-watch games of the season. Now let's dive into the details of the schedule and talk about who has the advantage and disadvantage in back-to-backs, nationally televised games and more — including the most bobblehead nights. Which teams have the most nationally televised games? Four teams are maxed out at 34 games on national television: • Lakers • Warriors • Knicks • Thunder The Timberwolves and Rockets follow those four with 28 each. Rounding out the top 10 are the Nuggets (26), Celtics (25), Cavaliers (24) and Mavericks (23). Every team has at least two nationally televised games. With the addition of Peacock NBA Mondays and many NBA Cup games being broadcast on Amazon Prime exclusively, the number of national broadcast games jumped this season to 244, up from 172 a season ago. Once the NFL season nears its end, the NBA will ramp up with nationally televised games nightly. Where to watch NBA action this season ⬇️ Season-long national games: ▪️ Mon: Peacock ▪️ Tue: NBC/Peacock ▪️ Wed: ESPN ▪️ Fri: Prime Video Additional weekly national games starting midseason: ▪️ Thu: Prime Video ▪️ Sat: ABC | ESPN | Prime Video ▪️ Sun: ABC | ESPN | NBC/Peacock If you remove the games exclusively on streaming platforms from the national broadcast game list, only counting the games on NBC, ABC and ESPN, the teams with the most games are: Knicks (21), Lakers (20), Thunder (20), Warriors (19) and Nuggets (18). Worth noting that both the Rockets and Timberwolves will have 17 of those games. It's also worth noting that all those games on over-the-air broadcasts also will be available on streaming services such as Peacock for the NBC games as well. Which teams have the most back-to-backs? Every team has between 13 and 16 back-to-backs, with the average being 14.4 (down slightly from 14.9 a season ago). The five teams with the most (16) are: • Hornets • Nuggets • 76ers • Suns • Wizards Just as interesting is the number of times a team faces an opponent on a back-to-back. At the top of the list, the 76ers face 18 teams on the second night of a back-to-back, while the Nuggets are at the low end of that scale with 12. Utah, Philadelphia, and Sacramento each have 14 rest advantage games, tied for the most in the league, according to Positive Residual. There are no four games in five nights in the schedule. Other schedule notes • Getting rest before big games. The NBA noted that teams do not play the day before these games: *All opening-week national TV games *All Emirates NBA Cup games *All Christmas Day games *The four-game Peacock/NBC schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day *The 10-game ABC Saturday schedule and eight-game ABC Sunday schedule *The 11-game NBC Sunday schedule • Pelicans have toughest NBA schedule. Remember when the Pelicans traded their 2026 first-round pick to Atlanta so they could move up and draft Derik Queen in this year's draft? Keep that in mind as you check out Positive Residual's projections for the most difficult schedule in the NBA this season: The NBA Calendar App has been updated with the 2025-26 regular season schedule. Here are the teams with the toughest Note that an older team in the Warriors is fourth on that list, with the Mavericks fifth. • Impact of Clippers' new arena. Interesting note from The Athletic's Law Murray: The Clippers and Lakers are scheduled to play in SoCal on the same night 14 times next season, including their 4 head-to-head matchups. Same number as last season, though league isn't waiting like last year 15 nights in NYC for both Nets/Knicks • Clippers lead the league in bobblehead nights. Clippers fans love bobbleheads? LA Clippers have six different bobblehead nights this upcoming season for home games. Jan. 12: Kris Dunn Bobblehead Feb. 2: Chris Paul Bobblehead Feb. 22: James Harden Bobblehead Mar. 4: Bradley Beal Bobblehead Mar. 16: Nicolas Batum Bobblehead Mar. 25: Kawhi Leonard Bobblehead Kris Dunn is a nice player, but is he bobblehead worthy?

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan basketball card shatters auction record

A basketball card featuring Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant has become the most valuable basketball card ever, with bidding surpassing more than $6 million. The 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant #DL-KM Signed PSA EX-MT 6 - #'d 1/1 features Jordan and Bryant's signatures, with two NBA logos, one white and the other gold. The bidding is currently at $5 million, and has been upped to $6.1 million with the buyer's premium. The previous record for the auction of a basketball card is the 2018 Panini National Treasures Logoman Luka Dončić 1/1, which sold for $3.2 million. The private sale record for a basketball card is a 2009 Panini National Treasures Logoman Steph Curry 1/1, which sold for $5.9 million. "The demand for this card is astronomical, which makes sense, because it has everything, including photos, jersey patches, and signatures from two of the greatest players who ever stepped on the court," Chris Ivy, Heritage's Director of Sports Auctions, said in a statement. "The Dual Logoman card offered in this auction is the only example created that includes only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant – making it the most sought-after example of the incredible Upper Deck Logoman series, and because of Kobe Bryant's tragic death in 2020, it always will be the only one." The actual auction will take place at Heritage's Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction on Aug. 23-24, which will also feature a Jordan-signed piece of the Chicago Bulls home court, Babe Ruth's 1923 championship watch, and Mickey Mantle's earliest autograph from a 1947 high school publication. Jordan, considered by many to be the greatest basketball player ever, was a six-time NBA champion and a five-time MVP with the Bulls. Bryant was named to the All-NBA First Team 11 times and won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant died in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26, 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.
