State trade body to launch ‘Swadeshi' drive from Aug 27
1 2 Ranchi: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Sunday announced the launch of a 'Swadeshi Campaign' from August 27 to promote indigenous goods and discourage reliance on foreign products. Minister of state for defence and former FJCCI president Sanjay Seth said, "India is marching fast towards self-reliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. If small retailers put up boards declaring 'Only Swadeshi Goods Sold Here', the campaign will grow stronger. This is the first chamber in the country to take such a concrete step for ' Aatmanirbhar Bharat '." FJCCI president Paresh Gattani said, "Traders would display 'We Sell Swadeshi Products' boards in their establishments from August 27. The campaign would become a milestone in self-reliance and boost small traders as well as the state's economy. Our indigenous goods will remain with us, and we will not be relying on anyone," Gattani said. Stickers and display boards would be distributed across markets in Ranchi and other districts. After Norway study, Delhi's Holambi Kalan e-waste plant to double capacity
The decision comes after Sirsa's August 4-5 inspection of the Revac facility in Norway's Revetal, regarded as one of Europe's most advanced and environmentally compliant e-waste plants, it said in the statement. Initially designed to process 51,000 metric tonnes of e-waste annually with an investment of Rs 150 crore, the Holambi Kalan plant will now be built to handle 1,10,000 MT per year, covering almost twice the area and with nearly double the capital expenditure, according to a government statement. New Delhi, Aug 10 (PTI) Delhi's first E-Waste Eco Park in Holambi Kalan will now be twice as big and powerful, Environment and Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said. Sirsa said the upgraded project will adopt a global zero-waste model, ensuring no air, water, or radiation pollution, with advanced scrubbers, in-house water purification, concretised flooring, and complete material recovery. 'Our goal is integrated progress where clean industry fuels economic growth and safeguards the environment,' he said. The Delhi government also plans to introduce robust third-party monitoring for compliance, inspired by Norway's non-profit inspection framework for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). The plant will recover aluminium, iron, and refuse-derived fuel without burning waste, promoting a true circular economy. To be developed under a public-private partnership model through the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), the park is expected to generate over Rs 500 crore in revenue. Jharkhand industry grouping demands centre's intervention
Ranchi: The apex industry association of Jharkhand on Friday sought the central government's intervention in safeguarding the interests of businesses and incentive measures for relief in the wake of new tariffs imposed by the US. Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) general secretary Aditya Malhotra said the imposition of a high tax on Indian goods by the Donald Trump administration in the US created an "atmosphere of uncertainty" in global trade. An initial 25% tariff, announced by US President Donald Trump on Indian imports, came into effect on Thursday. In addition, Trump on Wednesday clamped another 25% levies on India, as a penalty, for its purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total duties slapped on the country to 50%. "The announcement of the new tax structure by the US has created an atmosphere of uncertainty in the global business world. Since the US is a major trading partner of India, these taxes can have direct and indirect effects on the industries in Jharkhand," Malhotra told PTI.
