DUBAI (ALETIHAD)The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) hosted the Aviation Safety Consultative Conference (ASCC) 2025 at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Dubai, bringing together key aviation stakeholders from across the UAE under the theme 'Regulatory Innovation and Operational Excellence.'The conference served as a dynamic platform for sharing insights, strategies, and regulatory updates that aim to enhance aviation safety standards in line with the UAE Vision 2031.Assistant Director General of the Aviation Safety Affairs Sector at GCAA, Eng. Aqeel Al Zarouni, said, 'ASCC 2025 reflects our collective ambition to lead through collaboration, innovation, and regulatory agility.' 'Together with our industry partners, we continue to build a proactive safety culture that supports sustainable aviation growth for the UAE and beyond.'Key announcements included the release of (Safety Decision 2025-01), which addresses fatigue management in the aviation maintenance environment. The agenda also covered critical topics such as EVTOL operations, AI-powered compliance systems, weather resilience, emergency preparedness, Acceptable Level of Safety Performance (ALoSP), and Flight and Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) variations.Participants received important updates on aircrew licensing, training oversight, non-technical competencies, and passenger behaviour management, in addition to enhancements in CAR-AIR OPS regulations and e-service platforms. The conference also featured a call to action for industry-wide participation in the upcoming Safety Marathon 2025.
With contributions from leading experts across the UAE aviation sector, ASCC 2025 reaffirmed the country's strategic commitment to innovation-driven oversight, fostering a proactive safety culture and promoting sustainable aviation development.

3 Aug 2025 19:35 DUBAI (ALETIHAD)His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has revealed that Dubai now has a network of over 1,270 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the emirate. This includes charging points provided by DEWA in collaboration with its partners from both the public and private Tayer affirmed that DEWA continues to advance green mobility and support Dubai's plans to transition to environmentally friendly transport, in line with national efforts to increase the share of electric and hybrid vehicles to 50% of all vehicles on UAE roads by 2050.'In line with the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a global model for smart urban development by advancing green mobility, we launched the EV Green Charger initiative in 2014, the region's first public charging infrastructure network for electric vehicles. We continue this pioneering approach by providing innovative digital services for EV charging and encouraging private sector investment in Dubai's green mobility infrastructure through the launch of a comprehensive licensing system for the development and operation of EV charging infrastructure across the emirate. This is especially relevant as the number of EVs in Dubai reached over 40,600 by the end of the first half of 2025. This supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050,' said Al Tayer. Regulatory Framework for EV Charging Point Operators The Regulatory Framework for EV Charging Infrastructure in Dubai and Licensing of Independent Charge Point Operators, developed by DEWA, addresses current and future requirements, ensuring that Dubai remains at the forefront of green mobility framework includes two tracks, as Dubai is witnessing both the direct development of public charging infrastructure by DEWA and its subsidiaries, and infrastructure development by independent charging point operators licensed by DEWA. Expanding Network of EV Charging Stations DEWA's EV Green Charger network includes ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers. To further expand this infrastructure, DEWA signed an agreement with Parkin to install charging stations in prime locations managed by Parkin, enhancing the user customers, including unregistered users, can utilise EV charging through the guest mode feature. Customers can also locate stations via DEWA's smart app, official website and 14 other digital platforms. Additionally, DEWA launched the 'Dubai EV Community Hub' website ( to promote EV adoption and serve as a central source of information on the local EV ecosystem.

Abu Dhabi reports non-oil foreign trade growth of 34.7% in H1 2025

3 Aug 2025 15:09 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Abu Dhabi's non-oil foreign trade increased 34.7 per cent to Dh195.4 billion during the first half of 2025, compared to Dh145 billion during the same period in 2024, according to statistics released by the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs (Abu Dhabi Customs).The growth reflects the resilience and dynamism of Abu Dhabi's economy, supported by the efficiency of its infrastructure and advanced logistics services, which have helped facilitate trade flows and enhance the smooth movement of goods through border the first six months of 2025, Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports grew by 64 per cent, reaching Dh78.5 billion, up from Dh47.9 billion during the first half of rose by 15 per cent to Dh80 billion, compared to Dh70 billion, and re-exports registered a 35 per cent increase, surpassing Dh36 billion, compared to Dh26.6 billion in the first half of increase in non-oil foreign trade underscores the strength of Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategies, forward-looking policies, and significant investments across key sectors. These efforts collectively support the emirate's growth as a leading regional and global trade and logistics Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), said: 'Abu Dhabi's steady non-oil foreign trade performance in H1 2025 reaffirms our position as a global economic powerhouse, bridging east and west, north and south. Our consistent growth, amid the challenges in international trade and the global economy, reflects the strength of our long-term economic planning, decisive policy execution, and our commitment to enabling the free and fair exchange of goods, services, and innovations.'We are doubling down our efforts to position Abu Dhabi among the world's most business-ready economies by streamlining trade procedures, deploying smart systems, and integrating services to enhance flow and accelerate efficiency, cementing Abu Dhabi's position as a global trade and investment centre, and a key node on international supply chains.'
