In an order dated June 4, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Lohani's appointment for a tenure of three years. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

He is credited with turning around the ITDC and MPSTDC during those stints.
The Centre recently reconstituted the society and executive council of PMML, with several new names being added. The executive council, which previously had 29 members, has now been expanded to 34 members.
While Nripendra Mishra, former principal secretary to the prime minister, was reappointed for a five-year term as the chairperson of the organisation, prominent new members included former Union minister Smriti Irani, NITI Aayog former vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar, retired Army General Syed Ata Hasnain, renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and Vasudev Kamath from Sanskar Bharati, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the president of the PMML society, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is the vice president. As the director, Lohani will also become a member of the seven-member executive council of the organisation, headed by chairman Nripendra Misra.

Higher education instts to host ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign in 3 stages

Lucknow: To foster patriotism among children and youth, the Yogi Adityanath govt has asked all higher learning institutions (HEIs) to carry out the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign in three stages. In the first stage, from Aug 2 to 8, the walls of universities and colleges will be decorated with art based on the tricolour. HEIs will organise tricolour rakhi-making competitions and send rakhis to soldiers and policemen. In addition, HEIs have been asked to organise tricolour rangoli competitions. The second stage, from Aug 9 to 12, will see HEIs hosting the Tiranga Mahotsav, which will include a grand tricolour-related musical concert. The last phase will involve hoisting the tricolour at all academic institutions and celebrating Independence Day as a festival. The Ministry of Culture has developed a website – – where citizens are encouraged to pin a flag and upload a selfie with the tricolour. "The idea behind the campaign is to instill the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of people and reminisce about the journey of India and those who contributed towards creating this great nation," said a higher education official.
