Two women arrested for drug driving after Halifax car crash which left teen critically injured

Two women have been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a car crash which left a teenage driver critically injured in Halifax.
The two cars, a grey BMW 330 and a black Citroen C1 collided just after 8pm on Friday, 6 June.
West Yorkshire Police said the BMW had been travelling on Hopwood Lane towards Queens Road when it collided with the Citroen, which was coming out of the lane from Gibraltar Road.
The BMW left the carriageway after the crash and collided with the front of a shop.
The driver of the Citroen, an 18-year-old man, was seriously injured and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Three passengers from the Citroen were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Two women from the BMW, both aged 25, were treated in hospital and have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.
They remain in custody and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Othniel Adoma, 11, is confirmed to have died more than three weeks after the single-vehicle crash on a motorway slip road. The youngster, from Bracknell in Berkshire, died on Thursday due to the crash which saw white Ford Transit minibus overturned on the exit slip road at Junction 10 of the M4 eastbound, near Wokingham, on May 11. A six-year-old boy, who has not been named, also died in the collision. Five other children were injured and have now been discharged from hospital. ‌ ‌ No arrests have been made. Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby, of the serious collision investigation unit at Thames Valley Police, said: 'My thoughts, and the thoughts of everyone at Thames Valley Police, are with the family and friends of Othniel Adoma. 'Othniel's family has released these beautiful pictures of Othniel in his memory. Othniel's family has asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.' South Central Ambulance Service said it was first alerted to the crash at 2:24pm, with its first units arriving at the scene eight minutes later. Five critical care units, including two air ambulances, attended the incident along with six ambulances. In the aftermath of the crash, police confirmed the first child had died in a social media post. Police said: 'Sadly, a child died in the collision and our thoughts remain with the family who are being supported at this extremely difficult time.' Elsewhere, three people were taken to hospital following a crash involving two motorbikes in the far north of Scotland. Officers were called at around 11am on Thursday to a report of a crash involving a Kawasaki motorbike and a BMW motorbike. Emergency services attended and the 51-year-old male rider of the Kawasaki was taken to hospital, along with a 56-year-old man who was the rider of the BMW and a 64-year-old woman who was his passenger. All three were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Sergeant Douglas Scott said: 'Our inquiries are continuing into this crash and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact us. I would also ask any drivers on the road with dashcam from around the time of the crash to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything relevant. Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident 1124 of 5 June.'
