Women arrested for drug driving after serious crash

Two women have been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash between two cars which left an 18-year-old critically injured. The teenager was driving a black Citroen C1 when it was in collision with a grey BMW near Halifax just after 20:00 BST on Friday. West Yorkshire Police said the BMW had been travelling on Hopwood Lane towards Queens Road when it collided with the Citroen, which was coming out of the lane from Gibraltar Road. Three passengers from the Citroen were also taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Police said the BMW left the left the road after the collision and crashed into the front of a shop. The women who were in the BMW, both aged 25, were treated in hospital and have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. They remain in custody and enquiries into the incident are ongoing, police said. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage, is asked to contact the roads policing unit. Two women have been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a car crash which left a teenage driver critically injured in Halifax. The two cars, a grey BMW 330 and a black Citroen C1 collided just after 8pm on Friday, 6 June. West Yorkshire Police said the BMW had been travelling on Hopwood Lane towards Queens Road when it collided with the Citroen, which was coming out of the lane from Gibraltar Road. The BMW left the carriageway after the crash and collided with the front of a shop. The driver of the Citroen, an 18-year-old man, was seriously injured and remains in a critical condition in hospital. Three passengers from the Citroen were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Two women from the BMW, both aged 25, were treated in hospital and have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. They remain in custody and enquiries into the incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Family pay tribute to 'hero' dad who died after being struck by car

A family has paid tribute to a 'deeply loved' dad-of-two who died after being struck by a car in Aberdeen. John Hutcheson was struck by a black Citroen C1 on Dyce Drive in the city around 10.45pm on Thursday, May 15. The 34-year-old from Oldmeldrum was pronounced dead at the scene. In a statement released by his sisters Denise, Karis and Eileigh, John was described as a 'hero' who was 'fiercely loyal and protective of his loved ones'. The statement reads: 'None of us have ever experienced this level of grief and devastation in our lives, our hearts are broken and will never fully heal from a loss so significant. 'John was a loving son of Shelley and Eddie, a brother to Denise, Karis and Eileigh, a father of Leah and JJ and a friend to so many. 'John was a hero and loved deeply by so many, he was fiercely loyal and protective of the ones he loved dearly. 'His humour and energy was something that is unmatched, and we will continue to remember this in all of our hearts. 'As a family, we would like to thank everyone for their continuous support and thoughts at this devastating time, please know this means so much to us.' Sergeant Sarah Ritchie, North East Road Policing Unit, said 'Our thoughts remain with John's family and friends at this difficult time. 'Our investigation is ongoing and I would like to thank everyone that has contacted us so far. The 13-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. A schoolboy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being knocked off his e-bike in a hit and run in Glasgow. On Tuesday May 20, at around 8.45pm, emergency crews raced to Saltmarket, Glasgow, near Clyde Street upon receiving reports of a crash involving an e-bike and a car. ‌ The 13-year-old boy riding the e-bike was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. ‌ The car, which was red, briefly stopped on Clyde Street before driving off. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the car and driver. Constable Stuart Tangny said: 'Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge the driver of the car to get in touch with us. 'Similarly, anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with dash-cam footage that may assist our enquiries is advised to get in touch.' Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3729 of May 20. We reported on Saturday, in a separate incident, that a father who died after being hit by a car in Aberdeen has been named by police. ‌ Emergency services raced to the horror collision involving a pedestrian and a black Citroen C1 car on Dyde Drive at 10.45pm on Thursday, May 15. Crews attended but sadly the pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, died at the scene. He has been named as John Hutcheson from Oldmeldrum. Police say inquiries into the crash are ongoing. John's sisters, Denise, Karis and Eileigh, have since remembered their brother as a "hero" who was "loved deeply by so many" in a heartbreaking tribute released through Police Scotland. ‌ The tribute reads: 'None of us have ever experienced this level of grief and devastation in our lives, our hearts are broken and will never fully heal from a loss so significant. Gilbert Duncan, 67, was killed in the fatal smash. A motorcyclist who died in a three-vehicle crash in the Highlands has been named. Gilbert Duncan, from the Avoch area, died at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Tuesday May 20. ‌ He was involved in a collision between a black Mazda CX5 car and two Yamaha MT07 motorcycles on the A862 near Beauly at 11am on May 17. ‌ The 67-year-old could not be saved. His family has asked for their privacy to be respected. The driver of the car and the other motorcyclist were uninjured. The 47-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries. Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: 'Our thoughts are with Gilbert's family and friends at this difficult time, and we have officers supporting them. 'Enquiries are ongoing and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not already spoken to police, to contact us.
