Family pay tribute to 'hero' dad who died after being struck by car
A family has paid tribute to a 'deeply loved' dad-of-two who died after being struck by a car in Aberdeen.
John Hutcheson was struck by a black Citroen C1 on Dyce Drive in the city around 10.45pm on Thursday, May 15.
The 34-year-old from Oldmeldrum was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement released by his sisters Denise, Karis and Eileigh, John was described as a 'hero' who was 'fiercely loyal and protective of his loved ones'.
The statement reads: 'None of us have ever experienced this level of grief and devastation in our lives, our hearts are broken and will never fully heal from a loss so significant.
'John was a loving son of Shelley and Eddie, a brother to Denise, Karis and Eileigh, a father of Leah and JJ and a friend to so many.
'John was a hero and loved deeply by so many, he was fiercely loyal and protective of the ones he loved dearly.
'His humour and energy was something that is unmatched, and we will continue to remember this in all of our hearts.
'As a family, we would like to thank everyone for their continuous support and thoughts at this devastating time, please know this means so much to us.'
Sergeant Sarah Ritchie, North East Road Policing Unit, said 'Our thoughts remain with John's family and friends at this difficult time.
'Our investigation is ongoing and I would like to thank everyone that has contacted us so far.

I don't know exactly what she was suffering from but I think it was serious. John was effectively her carer. I never saw nurses or medically trained staff ever go in. They also had their two dachshunds with them, the friend added. They said: "His wife looked really, really frail. She was hunched over quite badly and was finding it very difficult to walk. I was surprised to see her out of the house. "That was the last time I saw them. They never came home." The neighbour added: "I don't know if they had children or grandchildren. I'd say there were in their early 70s. But John was a nice guy and doted on his wife." John was a bus driver for Southern Vectis, an operator on the Isle of Wight, and it is understood he knew the roads across the island well. Police continue to investigate the deaths and are believed to be searching the couple's terraced home in Cowes, Isle of Wight. "We were called at 7.21pm after a Ford Mondeo, which was being driven along Alum Bay New Road, left the road, came off the cliff top and came to rest in the water below. Two dogs, both Dachshunds, were also in the car and died in the incident. "Formal identification procedures are ongoing, but next of kin have been notified. A post-mortem examination will take place on Tuesday 10 June. "As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, which has been referred to the Coroner, officers have been carrying out enquiries at an address on Arctic Road, Cowes to help them to establish what happened."

Neighbours said John was a bus driver who knew the area and its roads 'like the back of his hand' and 'doted on his wife', who was described as 'really, really frail'. One said recalled seeing him helping his wife into the car with the dogs on Friday afternoon, saying: 'That was the last time I saw them. They never came home.' The neighbour described seeing John regularly but reported only seeing Lynne 'maybe twice in the three years they'd been living in the road'. 'She wasn't well. I don't know exactly what she was suffering from but I think it was serious. John was effectively her carer. I never saw nurses or medically trained staff ever go in.
