Miley Cyrus Says She Has No ‘Desire' to Tour as ‘It's Really Hard to Maintain Sobriety' on the Road
In the interview posted Tuesday (July 15), the pop star opened up about her decision not to promote her new album Something Beautiful with a run of shows. 'I do have the physical ability, and I have the opportunities to tour,' she explained on GMA. 'I wish I had the desire, but I don't. I also don't think that there's actually an infrastructure that supports artists.'

'The artists like Prince that are not here today that lived such a high-intensity lifestyle out on the road … It's really hard to maintain sobriety when you're on the road, which is a really important pillar of stability in my life,' she continued. 'It's really hard to keep mental wellness [on tour]. You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so dopamine, you're feeling a lot of love, and then you totally crash at the end of the show. You start thinking that one person loving you's not enough, it needs to be 10,000, it needs to be 80,000.'
That said, Cyrus clarified that her decision to not tour has nothing to do with being 'afraid' of the challenge. 'I like to do things I'm afraid of,' she said. 'I've jumped out of airplanes. I've performed for 150,000 people.'
'I stood toe-to-toe with Beyoncé,' she continued, referencing her surprise performance of 'II Most Wanted' at a June Cowboy Carter Tour show in Paris. 'When you're standing beside her, you can actually feel her desire and her passion.'
Indeed, not a lot of artists can say they've performed alongside Queen Bey, who first tapped Cyrus for Cowboy Carter duet 'II Most Wanted' in March 2024. The crowd went crazy when the Hannah Montana alum appeared on stage at Stade de France stadium and started singing with the night's headliner, with Bey giving her a hug and kiss on the cheek.
'That to me is a win,' Cyrus reflected on the performance. 'It's not a trophy, it's not something physical that you hold or put on a shelf, but it's something that I have that's a true win.'
Despite how much fun she had singing with Beyoncé, Cyrus has been open about her aversion to scheduling a tour of her own. In 2023, she shared a statement with fans about not wanting to tour anymore, writing, 'This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans & everything to do with I simply don't want to get ready in a locker room … I just don't want to sleep on a moving bus.'
And in a May interview with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, she said that while she's sometimes tempted to make tour arrangements, she knows it's best for her sobriety and vocal health to abstain from road life.
'I've learned this about myself over the years,' she said at the time. 'The sobriety is like, that's like my God. I need it, I live for it. I mean that it's changed my entire life.'

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015) The 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer remains, in some ways, the ideal gonzo comedy of its era. Nothing in the movie makes much sense, and none of it really has to, in part because it features a cast filled with people who would go on to become major stars. First Day of Camp attempts to recapture the magic of that original film and succeeds to a larger extent than you might expect. Not every single joke lands, but as a vehicle for laughs, you could do a lot worse than this revival series, which managed to get even Paul Rudd to show up for a moment. Chef's Table: BBQ (2020) A show that's guaranteed to make even the vegetarians amongst us hungry, Chef's Table: BBQ is a food travelogue that hones in on barbecue in all of its various forms and travels all around the world to sample them. While Netflix offers many excellent food documentaries, this season of Chef's Table uniquely enhances your appreciation for a type of cuisine that has been integral to most people's lives for years. Their First Date Was Delayed. Their Future Wasn't.
Corey Edwin Lockett was 30 minutes late to his first date with Vanessa Dalemark Berentsen at Dutch Fred's, a cocktail bar in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. After a long day at work with the New York Giants, where he was a pro personnel intern at the time, he had driven in from Alpine, N.J., and hadn't anticipated just how difficult parking in Manhattan would be. 'I thought he was ghosting me,' Ms. Berentsen said. 'He kept texting me saying he was looking for parking, but I was confused. How is it taking this long?' It was July 28, 2018, just nine days after the two had matched on Tinder. With the National Football League preseason underway — one of the busiest times in football operations — Mr. Lockett wasn't interested in dating casually. 'A large portion of dating intentionally was due to my schedule,' he said, 'but also how comfortable that person would be with the hours that I work.' When he finally arrived, they greeted each other with a hug. 'I felt the connection right away,' Mr. Lockett said. Over cocktails and appetizers, they talked for more than three hours about family, music and the different cities and cultures that shaped them. Ms. Berentsen, who had moved to New York City from Edmonds, Wash., after spending her earliest years in Kristiansand, Norway, didn't have family nearby. The LeapMove is a gamified camera designed to get kids off the couch
LeapFrog has announced a new electronic learning system that swaps controllers for a camera. In fact, the LeapMove looks like an oversized, kid-friendly webcam, but is designed to connect to TVs like a console and get kids off the couch using educational games that require full-body movements to play. It's reminiscent of the Xbox Kinect or the PlayStation 2's EyeToy, but simpler and much cheaper than competitors' products like the $249 Nex Playground. The LeapMove will be available through retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon for $69.99, and comes with 25 motion-based games designed for kids aged 4 to 7. It might be hard to pull the older end of that demographic away from games like Roblox, Among Us, and even Fortnite, but in addition to motion detection, the LeapMove uses its camera to make players appear as themselves or 'whimsical characters' in several games, which may appeal to younger kids. The games cover 'foundational school subjects' including math, reading, and spelling, and require players to do everything from dancing around to waving their arms and even attempting to catch on-screen objects. The LeapMove connects to a TV over HDMI, and instead of rechargeable batteries it needs access to a power outlet. It can be used either sitting beneath a TV or perched atop it like a webcam using a fold-out support. LeapFrog says additional games will be made available for the LeapMove at a later date, which can be loaded by connecting the device to a computer and using the company's LeapFrog Connect desktop app. They won't be free, but unlike the Nex Playground, the LeapMove doesn't come with any subscription fees. Parents concerned about privacy, particularly with devices that rely heavily on a camera, may appreciate that the LeapMove has no wireless connectivity. In 2018, VTech, LeapFrog's parent company, agreed to settle for a $650,000 fine after the FTC alleged it collected kids' personal information, including names, emails, and genders, through its KidiConnect mobile app. The LeapMove is completely standalone and keeps track of up to three players' progress locally.
