Tipperary's Jake Morris gets top honour in the Sunday Game panel's Team of the Year
The Premier lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup for the first time since 2019 this evening, after a sensational second-half surge saw them beat Cork 3-27 to 1-18.
Runners-up Cork have four representatives on the team, while fellow provincial champions Kilkenny see two players selected. Dublin and Galway have one apiece.

Morris got the Hurler of the Year nod, with Ronan Maher and John McGrath the panel's other nominees. The Nenagh Éire Óg half forward clipped over two points this evening as he brought the curtain down on a memorable 2025.
'Jake Morris had a brilliant year,' said Kilkenny legend Henry Shefflin. 'Up top, he's been the spiritual leader for Tipp. When they look to someone to do something big, he's the man to turn to.
'I think Jake was in the conversation [for Hurler of the Year] this morning, and in the first half when Tipp weren't firing, he was still the one that looked to bring them forward. I thought he was brilliant.'
'I think Jake has become selfless in his game,' the former Galway manager continued.
'The amount of link-up play he does, the amount of dummy runs he does. He was a goalscorer up to now; he's now become a fulcrum of that Tipp team.
'And he's the new Tipp team. . . we spoke about the older and the younger lads, but he's in that middle category. We've identified he has serious potential for a number of years but I think we've seen, just like the Tipp team, he has grown to a stature that he is our Hurler of the Year.'

Cork coach Kevin Walsh's intentions becoming clear as John Cleary looks to 2026
Kevin Walsh is set to continue coaching the Cork footballers for another season. The former Galway and Sligo boss has worked under manager John Cleary for the past three seasons and all indications are that he will stay in the role for the 2026 campaign, reports. Cleary completed a three-year term with this year's All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final defeat to Dublin having initially taken on the role on a caretaker basis during the 2022 season after incumbent Keith Ricken took ill. He was handed a fresh two-year term last week despite the team failing to kick on having exited at the preliminary quarter-final stage for the second successive season after reaching the last eight in 2023. However, there were some signs of encouragement, particularly in the Munster semi-final against Kerry, which the eventual champions went on to win after extra time, while Cork were in the ascendancy for much of that preliminary quarter-final against Dublin before slipping to a three-point defeat. The acquisition of Walsh was seen as something of a coup for Cleary given how he had progressed Sligo and particularly his native Galway during his spells in as manager in both counties, though the length of the commute has raised questions as to how sustainable it would be for the two-time All-Ireland winning midfielder, whose services would be in demand closer to home. However, it appears as though the management team is remaining largely intact as Cork gear up for another season in Division Two next year. Along with Walsh, Cleary also had Micheál Ó Cróinín, James Loughrey, Barry Corkery and Jim O'Donoghue on the ticket. Meanwhile, there is still no firm indication around whether hurling manager Pat Ryan will continue in the job after the devastating All-Ireland final loss to Tipperary. The 16-point defeat last month officially brought his three-year term to a close though it is believed that there is an appetite among the county board executive to grant him another season if he wants it. This year Ryan guided Cork to their first League title since 1998 and bridged a seven-year gap to their last Munster title, but the season has been largely coloured by their spectacular second half collapse in the All-Ireland final, and whether the Sarsfields man is prepared to soldier on in the wake of that disappointment remains to be seen.

Cork and Tipperary stars to line out in Hurling for Cancer Research match
2025 All-Ireland winners Andrew Ormond, Noel McGrath, Darragh McCarthy, Jake Morris and Craig Morgan will be among those to line out in this year's Hurling for Cancer Research match which will be played on August 18 at Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow. The Tipperary stars will be joined by Cork's Eoin Downey, Brian Hayes and Patrick Horgan along with Clare's Peter Duggan and Mark Rodgers on the Davy Russell's Best side which will be jointly managed by Liam Cahill and Brian Cody. They will face a Jim Bolger's Stars team featuring Kilkenny's Mikey Butler, Huw Lawlor, Paddy Deegan, TJ Reid and Eoin Cody along with Limerick's Darragh O'Donovan, Dan Morrissey and Tom Morrissey. Intriguingly, the full-forward line will have Dublin footballer and Cuala hurler Con O'Callaghan alongside Cody and young Offaly star Adam Screeney. Lee Chin will also play for a team managed by Liam Griffin and John Kiely. Monday night's match, which is now sponsored by Centra and will be broadcast live on TG4, throws in at 7:30pm. All funds raised from ticket sales and donations will go to the Irish Cancer Society. Sharlene Mawdsley puts GAA star boyfriend through his paces on training holiday

Ahead of her next race on Saturday in Bern, the Newport native has been working out alongside her Tipperary All-Ireland winning hurler and boyfriend. Clips on her social media show the couple training in the heat as she gets acclimatised to conditions she can expect in the Swiss capital where temperatures are hitting 34 degrees. The sprinter powered to victory at Morton Stadium over the bank holiday weekend with an impressive 200m win at the National Championships in Santry. Speaking to RTE after the victory, the running star declared: 'I'm absolutely thrilled. 'I knew today was going to be a really hard task and to come out on top,' she added. 'I was just saying to myself, stay calm, stay strong, and dig deep and thankfully I ended up winning the title. 'It was a pity about the wind, but it was close to a PB and that'll give me great confidence heading into my last race before Worlds on the 16th of this month.' On the back of an All-Ireland Final win for Breen and her first 200m national title, she is also celebrating just turning 27-years-of-age. In a birthday tribute, Breen posted a series of snaps of the pair together along with a childhood picture of Sharlene in Tipperary colours. Sharlene also shared a pic of a gift of "27 roses for 27 years" for her birthday with her 274,000 Instagram followers. Sharlene also had time to relax Sharlene was at Croke Park to cheer on her partner for the Premier County's 2025 All-Ireland Final victory over Cork. And a video widely shared online showing her beating former hurler Brian 'Buggy' O'Meara in an impromptu race on the day after the All-Ireland final homecoming festivities soon went viral Earlier this summer Sharlene was devastated following the tragic passing of her father Thomas (Tucker) Mawdsley (67). He died in June, just days after Sharlene competed in the third edition of Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia where she had achieved a season's best. Earlier this year, Sharlene competed in the mixed 4x400m relays in the first round at the World Relays in Guangzhou, China. She was joined by her Irish teammates Conor Kelly, Rhasidat Adeleke and Cillín Greene, who combined to finish second and earn a spot in the World Athletics Championships later this year. She also narrowly lost out on a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay event at last year's Olympic games in Paris. In May Sharlene and Mikey went 'Instagram official' as she shared a snap of herself and her beau wearing matching GAA jerseys. 'Tippin' on,' she captioned the post which shows the pair beaming down the camera at Semple Stadium. Sharlene jokes that Mikey did not approve of the training clips being shared Taking to the comments, fans expressed their delight at the pairing. 'Two of Tipp's finest athletes. Magic,' wrote one person. 'Hon Tipp,' added another. A third shared: 'Premier class through and through.' Singer and fellow Tipp woman Una Healy gave her seal of approval, simply commenting the heart eye emoji. Mikey himself responded to the post with: 'Any tag, nah?', poking fun at his girlfriend for not tagging him in the picture. Sharing the snap to his own social media, he commented: 'This fan was following me around all day.'
