Dixie Bowling Lanes hosts fundraiser bowl event
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — People come out to bowl at Dixie Bowling Lanes for the annual Bowl for Our Children Fundraiser. The event helps raise money for children who have experienced abuse or have been neglected.
Valley Arts4All to return in Sayre in May
More than 20 bowling alleys were taken up with around 100 people participating with four bowlers per team. The proceeds from the event will go to the Chemung County Child Advocacy Center. First time bowler of the event Justin Coffin said how he was impressed by the turnout.
'I didn't know what to expect, being our first time, and so I'm really excited that it did. I don't know if I would say surprise, because it's a good cause, and so that part is exciting. I didn't have any idea what to expect,' Coffin said.
Raffle items in the images above were donated by businesses around Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Tompkins Counties for the event.

While hosting a Super Regional, Arkansas fell in the decisive 3rd game to Ole Miss 7-4. After an outstanding start to the NCAA Tournament, Rijo was held without a hit for the 2nd-straight game. Prior to Saturday's win, the standout junior had gone 10 for 14, with 4 runs, 4 RBI, 1 home run, and 13 total bases. The Hawks grad closes out the year with career highs in hits (50), runs (28), RBI (38), doubles (10), triples (2), home runs (6), walks (13), and total bases (82). Glider from Elmira makes alternate landing on soccer field in Wyoming County
TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. (WETM) — School students and faculty were in for a surprise in Tunkhannock on Monday after a glider landed on the school district's field. The Elmira-based glider took off from Harris Hill on Monday, June 2, and soared off toward Wellsboro, and planned to return to Elmira, according to the Tunkhannock Township Police Department. Building damaged after car crash in Elmira on Tuesday The pilot told police he missed a necessary updraft to complete his trip and had to choose an alternate landing sight which happened to be the school field.
