Mohali:
Sandeep Kumar
, the gangster arrested following a shootout with the Mohali Police's Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) near the administrative complex on June 15, was also a drug dealer who used drug proceeds to fund his cache of weapons, police revealed on Sunday.
Sandeep, who was injured in the leg during the encounter and is currently under medical observation, is also wanted by the Himachal Pradesh police under the NDPS Act for
drug trafficking
. According to officials, he came near the encounter spot to deliver a drug consignment when he opened fire at the police team that had laid a trap based on intelligence inputs.
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, "Sandeep Kumar is a hardened criminal.
Apart from multiple murder and attempted murder cases, he is also involved in the drug trade. We have reason to believe that he used drug money to purchase firearms for gang activities. He is also wanted in Himachal Pradesh."
The SSP confirmed that one of Sandeep's aides, Babloo, who was arrested from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, five days ago, had already confessed to their role in the murder of 21-year-old Hemant Kumar in Sector 91 on May 26.

"Babloo was riding the motorcycle while Sandeep fired the shots. He has also made important disclosures about the gang's modus operandi, including the use of shared and hidden weapons," Hans added.
Police sources said the .315 bore weapon used in the Sector 91 murder is yet to be recovered. "Babloo claimed that Sandeep had the murder weapon, but it was not found at the encounter site. We suspect they rotated weapons within the gang and concealed them post each crime," sources added.
Police are now planning a face-to-face interrogation of Sandeep and Babloo once the former is fit for questioning. Police believe the interrogation will lead them to the gang's weapon hideouts and possibly to other accomplices involved in narcotics and violent crimes across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Police investigate Kick Streamer's paintball incident that sent one to emergency

Image via: Instagram/@xenathewitcher The Austin Police Department has launched an inquiry regarding a paintball incident that injured a woman allegedly involving Kick streamer XenaTheWitch. The injury occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, along Lakeshore Boulevard during an in-person scavenger hunt organized by a controversial internet personality Paul "Ice Poseidon" Denino. KVUE, a local station, had it that several livestreamers were drawn to the event where they would race across North America and complete challenges for a huge prize of $30,000. Some participants, however, seemed to have taken out their paintball guns and started firing in public areas without considering the safety of others. Incident Captured on Stream A snippet shown on the fellow streamer BennyMack's broadcast recorded XenaTheWitch firing her paintball gun, hitting the woman on the left thigh. The victim, unprotected from paintball hits, was not a competitor. 'Yeah, she f***ing shot me, It was one of them girls,' the woman mentioned. 'I don't give a f***,' Xena responded. Public Backlash and Accountability Calls Clips of the incident have been circulating on platforms like Reddit and X, with an audience clamoring for justice. Redditor said, "I hope they turn Xenathewitch in for this," ironically picking up on the trending topic among the online population, insinuating that streamers should pay for their reckless behavior in public broadcasts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How to Ease Knee Pain Without Injections or Side Effects Read More Undo Lack of protective gear from the victim has become another major topic, given that paintball guns can bruise and injure significantly in the absence of safety equipment. A Pattern of Controversy Unfortunately, XenaTheWitch is no stranger to problematic behavior, and yet again, she was in the headlines at the beginning of the year, involving herself in a showdown with an Uber driver. During that incident, her cameraman allegedly dropped the driver's phone onto the tarmac. This paintball incident revives discussions around discrepancies regarding the safety of unsupervised IRL streaming events. While such challenges tend to attract colossal audiences and sky-high sponsorships, they tend to straddle a fine line between entertainment and endangerment. No arrests have been made at least so far. The investigation is running under the assault with injury division, wherein the authorities are going through footage from several livestreams. 'He was almost dead': 70-year-old Sikh man, Harpal Singh, attacked with golf club in North Hollywood, remains in induced coma

Surveillance footage of the suspect who attacked a 70-year-old Sikh man with a golf club in North Hollywood last week. In a possible hate crime, a 70-year-old Sikh man, Harpal Singh , was brutally beaten with a golf club in North Hollywood as he was going to a gurdwara, his place of worship. The attack took place on August 4, and the Sikh Community held a prayer for the recovery of Sinhgh, who is now in an induced coma, ABC7 reported. Singh's brother, Dr Gurdial Singh Randhwa, said Harpal Singh barely survived the attack and has been in the hospital in critical condition, unresponsive. He underwent three surgeries for broken facial bones and bleeding in the brain. A disturbing video from after the attack shows Singh sitting on the sidewalk in a pool of his own blood, with the weapon used in his attack still sitting at his feet. "Brutally attacked. I don't know how God saved him. He was almost dead," Singh Randhawa said. "The fact that this happened and no one came to stop it until the point that Dr. Singh was just left in such critical condition, absolutely has spread fear in our community," said Munmeeth Kaur, the legal director of the Sikh Coalition, as quoted by ABC 7. The incident took place at about 3.15 pm outside a 7-Eleven store near the intersection of Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like TV providers are furious: this gadget gives you access to all channels Techno Mag Learn More Undo Witnesses said that a man on a bicycle approached the 70-year-old and, for no reason, attacked the old man savagely with a golf club that he left behind.
