Shooting damages Whitby home, Durham police investigating
Police in Durham Region are looking for a suspect after a bullet went through a glass door at a home in Whitby on Canada Day.
In a release, police say just before 11:30 p.m. on July 1, officers responded to the area of Prince of Wales Drive and Regal Briar Street, near Thickson and Manning roads, for an armed person call.
A bullet was found inside the home, having entered through a glass door, they said.
Investigators said residents were home at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.
'There is evidence to suggest that the firearm was used in the greenspace east of Prince of Wales Drive and the bullet travelled into the residence,' they said in the release.
Anyone with video footage of the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact Durham police at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 1845, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

'Posting such content runs counter to our values and ethics. I have reinforced with the chain of command the importance of our military disciplinary and administrative processes in addressing reported misconducts.' Fatal crash in Chatham-Kent claims life of Ridgetown woman
A woman from Ridgetown has died after a crash in Chatham-Kent. Around 10:320 a.m. Thursday, police and EMS were sent to a crash on Longwoods Road between Wallace Street and Pitt Road. According to police, the collision involved two vehicles, each with one occupant. A 29-year-old man from Thamesville was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with minor injuries, and A 29-year-old woman from Ridgetown was taken to Four Counties Hospital with serious injuries and later succumbed to her injuries. The Traffic Management Unit attended the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours but has since reopened - the investigation is ongoing. Northern Ont. police seize $25K in drugs and a handgun on Hwy. 17
A search of the vehicle uncovered 253 grams of suspected cocaine and 38 Percocet tablets worth around $25,000, as well as an overcapacity magazine for the handgun. A 30-year-old from St. Catharines has been charged with several offences after police stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 late last month in Nairn-Hyman Township.
