Tragic final moments revealed after mum-of-four fell to her death with instructor in tandem skydive

THE tragic final moments of a mum-of-four who died in a skydive with her instructor have been revealed at an inquest today. Belinda Taylor was taking part in the tandem jump with Adam Harrison when the horror took place. 3 3 The 48-year-old's partner, who watched the tragedy unfold, had bought the skydive as a gift for "adrenaline junkie" Belinda. An inquest opening heard today how both Belinda and Adam, 30, suffered multiple injuries. Their bodies were discovered in a field near the Dunkeswell airfield in Devon on June 13. Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney said the pair had exited the aircraft for the 1,500ft freefall jump strapped together. He added: "The parachute did not open as expected and they died as a consequence of the injuries sustained in the fall." The coroner adjourned the inquest until a later date while inquiries continue. It was previously revealed that other skydivers had seen Belinda "full of smiles and jokes" before the tragedy. Her son Elias, 20, said his mum had mentioned the jump was taking place on Friday the 13th in a "jokey way". While partner Scott Armstrong revealed she had been "absolutely buzzing" about the jump. Paying tribute, he added: "She was a lovely person, she was my best friend. She was an absolute nutcase who just loved adventures." Belinda, from nearby Totnes, had three adult sons and a teenage daughter and was also a grandmother of two. A probe by police, British Skydiving and East Devon District Council Environmental Health and Safety Office is ongoing. The Civil Aviation Authority said it was aware of the incident but could not comment any further due to it being an active investigation. 3

UK police in contact with French after Briton charged over Disneyland ‘wedding'

UK police officers are in contact with French authorities after a British sex offender was accused of staging a mock wedding with a child bride at Disneyland Paris. Jaskarn 'Jacky' Jhaj, 39, is wanted by the Metropolitan Police for breaching a sexual harm prevention order and a breach of a sex offenders register notification requirement. He was placed under supervision after being convicted of sexual activity with two 15-year-old girls in 2016, having driven around Hounslow picking up schoolgirls. Jhaj has staged various bizarre events, including carrying out a controlled explosion of a van near Silvertown, east London in August last year while being filmed naked, and a mock film premiere in 2023 where he appeared alongside around 200 young women and girls. The Metropolitan Police did not name him, but said: 'A 39-year-old man is wanted by the Met Police for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a breach of a Sex Offenders' Register notification requirement. 'We are aware the man has been arrested in France for other matters and officers are in contact with the French authorities.' On Tuesday, French prosecutors said a 39-year-old man, who reportedly played the 'groom' in the fake wedding ceremony, faces several counts of fraud, abuse of trust, money laundering and identity theft after his arrest at the entertainment resort in Marne-la-Vallee, France, on Saturday. The bride was a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl who had arrived in France with her 41-year-old mother two days prior to the mock ceremony. Police were called by a 'guest' who later claimed he was hired to play the father of the bride. A statement released by the prosecutor of the tribunal in Meaux Jean-Baptiste Bladier said the man 'explained he was paid 12,000 euros (£10,000) to play the role of the father of the bride and realised at the last minute that she was nine years old'. Four people were arrested on Saturday – including the British 'groom', the girl's mother, a 24-year-old Latvian woman who played the sister of the bride, and the 55-year-old Latvian man hired to play the 'father of the bride', the tribunal said. Prosecutors added Disneyland Paris was 'deceived' after the identity of a Latvian man and fake identification documents were used to secure the private event at the park, and that about a hundred hired extras were falsely presented to the company as wedding guests.

Bradley Murdoch may take truth of Peter Falconio's murder to grave

Police have offered a half-million Australian dollar reward for information leading to the discovery of the remains of a British backpacker whose murder 24 years ago on a remote highway chilled Australians and sparked a wave of outback crime thrillers. The A$500,000 (£239,000) reward for information on Peter Falconio's body is among the largest offered by police in Australia and comes as the rogue desert wanderer convicted of his murder, Bradley Murdoch, 67, nears death from cancer in a Northern Territory prison. The outback killer, who was found guilty of the murder in December 2005, was diagnosed with terminal throat cancer in 2019. Despite continued efforts by police, Falconio's remains have never been found, leading to fears that Murdoch will take the location of the body to his grave. Mark Grieve, the Northern Territory police commander, announced the reward on Wednesday, adding that officers 'still hold out hope that someone will be able to provide some vital information to assist in this search'. Murdoch has always refused to say where in the outback he hid Falconio's remains. 'We've made numerous approaches to Mr Murdoch over the years that have been passed up —including very recently, this week,' Grieve told reporters. 'Unfortunately, the outcome of those conversations rests with Mr Murdoch. On all occasions, he has chosen not to positively engage with police.' It was reported on Tuesday that Murdoch was near death and had been transferred to a prison palliative care unit. Police have repeatedly conducted searches for Falconio's remains around the scene of his murder near the desert hamlet of Barrow Creek, 174 miles north of Alice Springs in central Australia. Falconio, 28, from West Yorkshire, was driving his orange Volkswagen campervan at night along the 1,690-mile Stuart Highway in the remote Northern Territory with his girlfriend, Joanne Lees, 27. They were followed by a pick-up truck, driven by Murdoch, who trafficked drugs across the outback. Falconio pulled over after Murdoch signalled that the campervan was faulty. Murdoch shot him dead on the roadside then climbed into the vehicle. He tied Lees's hands and attempted to bind her feet and tape her mouth but she fought him off. Murdoch dragged her into the back of his Toyota four-wheel-drive but she managed to flee into the bush while he was moving Falconio's body. Murdoch searched for Lees before leaving, passing nearby three times, but she stayed hidden before finally flagging down a passing lorry in the early hours of the next day. Murdoch was found guilty of Falconio's murder by a jury in a unanimous verdict. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 28 years. He was also convicted of other assault-related charges on Lees. Only after the sentencing was it revealed that Murdoch had previously been acquitted of aggravated sexual assault on a mother and daughter in South Australia years earlier. Falconio's murder partly inspired the Australian crime thriller, Wolf Creek, in which three backpackers, two British and one Australian, are hunted down and captured by an outback serial killer. Falconio's father, Luciano, speaking from his home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, told MailOnline he had only found out about his son's killer's poor health from media reports. 'We don't know anything about him receiving end of life care, we have not been told,' he said. His wife, Joan, was too distressed to speak, fearing that the killer's potentially imminent death would prevent the couple from ever finding out the truth of their son's fate. Now aged in her early fifties, Lees still lives Huddersfield. Joan Falconio has previously told how she and her husband, who have three other sons, have remained in contact with Lees, who was once a suspect in his murder case.
