Veer Ahlawat placed 43rd, Shubhankar 77th in Nexo Championship
Ahlawat opened with four pars and then had five birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey in his 73.
Sharma shot 3-over 75 in the opening round at Trump International Golf Links.
Starting from the first tee he double bogeyed the third and then had three more bogeys to turn in 5-over. He did pick three birdies on the back nine against one bogey, but that was not enough to give him breathing space.

Jannik Sinner Withdraws From US Open Mixed Doubles: 'Really Sorry To Disappoint'
Last Updated: World number one Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the US Open mixed doubles due to illness. Sinner retired during the Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz. World number one Jannik Sinner, who retired during the final of the Cincinnati Open, and his playing partner Katerina Siniakova have withdrawn from the US Open mixed doubles draw, tournament organisers confirmed on Tuesday. 'Jannik Sinner and Katerina Siniakova have withdrawn from the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship," read a statement on the US Open website. 'The withdrawal comes after Sinner was forced to retired due to illness during the Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz on Monday." What Did Jannik Sinner Say? 'Yesterday I didn't feel great and I'm really sorry to disappoint you. Thank you so much to everyone supporting me on-site and from home, your support means the world," world number one Sinner posted on X on Tuesday. 'Congrats to @carlosalcaraz and his team, you're having an incredible season and I wish you all the best for what's ahead. Now it's time to rest a couple of days before getting back to work." The 24-year-old conceded defeat to Alcaraz after falling 5-0 behind in the first set of the Cincinnati final, due to an illness that struck just before the match. 'I'm disappointed, I didn't feel great from yesterday," Sinner said on court. 'During the night, I thought I would recover a bit better, but it was not the case." Sinner did not speak to journalists after the loss, only issuing a statement confirming he would definitely play singles at the US Open in New York, where the main draw begins on Sunday. 'I love Grand Slams a lot, they are the main tournaments for, for my season and my career," reigning US Open champion Sinner said. 'The US Open is going to be a tough tournament, but in the same time, I'm looking forward to it if I'm ready, physically and mentally." The statement did not address his participation in the mixed doubles, which is organised on Tuesday and Wednesday in a new shortened format featuring the world's best singles players, raising doubts about his ability to compete. Sinner and Siniakova will be replaced by the American duo of Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison, who will face Switzerland's Belinda Bencic and Germany's Alexander Zverev in the first round. view comments First Published: August 19, 2025, 21:37 IST News sports Jannik Sinner Withdraws From US Open Mixed Doubles: 'Really Sorry To Disappoint' Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. South African Batter, Who Plays For LSG, Breaks World Record Of...
Last Updated: Breetzke scored 57 runs for the Proteas in the first ODI against Australia, and his 57-run knock helped him break the world record for scoring the most runs after the first 3 ODIs. South African batter Matthew Breetzke entered his name in the history books on Tuesday (August 19) by breaking the world record for scoring the most runs after the first three ODIs. The 26-year-old right-handed batter, who made his ODI debut for the Proteas against New Zealand on February 10, 2025, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, went past former England batter Nick Knight's tally of runs. Knight, who made his ODI debut against Pakistan in Manchester on August 29, 1996, amassed a total of 264 runs for the English team in his first three ODIs. Whereas Breetzke has scored 290 runs. The right-handed batter scored 57 runs from 56 balls against Australia on Tuesday in the first ODI of the bilateral series played at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns. In his first two ODI matches, he scored 150 runs against New Zealand and 83 runs against Pakistan in February 2025. The record of scoring the most runs after four ODIs is in the name of South Africa's Temba Bavuma. Bavuma amassed a total of 280 runs after his first four 50-over matches for the Proteas. Even if Breetzke fails to open his account in the next ODI for the Proteas, he will remain ahead of Bavuma. The fifty by Breetzke on Tuesday also helped him become the first South African and overall fourth cricketer in the world to score half-centuries in the first three ODIs. India's Navjot Singh Sidhu was the first cricketer to achieve the feat. In fact, Sidhu crossed the 50-run mark in each of his first four ODI innings, and he was joined by Netherlands batters Tom Cooper in 2010 and Max O'Dowd in 2021. Sidhu made his ODI debut against Australia in Chennai on October 9, 1987, and scored 73 runs in an ODI World Cup match. In his next game he made 75 against New Zealand in Bengaluru. He didn't get a chance to bat in the third ODI against Zimbabwe, but in the fourth match he once again scored 51 runs against Australia in Delhi and then 55 against Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad. In his first three ODIs for the Dutch team, Cooper registered scores of 80*, 87 and 67, whereas Max scored 86*, 59 and 82 runs. Batters to score 50+ runs in first three ODIs Breetzke, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, also holds the world record for scoring the most runs on ODI debut. On February 10, 2025, he became the first batter in the world to score 150 on ODI debut. view comments First Published: August 19, 2025, 21:26 IST News cricket South African Batter, Who Plays For LSG, Breaks World Record Of... Axar Patel deserves ‘explanation' for T20I vice-captaincy being snatched: 'Hope he didn't come to know in press'
Former India batter Mohammad Kaif reckons Axar Patel is owed an 'explanation' after the T20I vice-captaincy was snatched from him and given to Shubman Gill for the upcoming eight-team Asia Cup. The All India Men's Senior Selection Committee on Tuesday unveiled the 15-member squad for the tournament, beginning September 9. Axar, who was the vice-captain for India's last T20I assignment—the five-match series against England earlier this year—is no longer Suryakumar Yadav's deputy, as the all-important position has now been given to Gill. Axar Patel is no longer the vice-captain in T20Is. (PTI) Gill, who is the Test captain, makes his way to India's T20I setup after more than a year. He last played a T20I in 2024 against Sri Lanka. However, he was never dropped from the team as he was rested to keep him fit for the Test and ODI assignments. It must be mentioned that Gill was the vice-captain in the series against Sri Lanka last year, and Axar was only elevated to this role in the 25-year-old's absence. Also Read: India's squad for Asia Cup 2025: Ajit Agarkar's 5 big announcements that threw pleasant surprises amid some tough calls However, Kaif believes Axar has done no wrong and deserves to know what really happened to his leadership role. He also hopes that the selectors and Axar communicated about the vice-captaincy being taken away. 'I hope Axar Patel was informed about his removal from vice-captaincy in advance, and he didn't come to know about it from the press conference. Axar did no wrong, so he deserves an explanation,' Kaif wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Axar Patel has played 71 T20Is, scoring 535 runs and taking 71 wickets. The left-handed batter is the captain of the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, under his leadership, the franchise failed to make the playoffs this year. Aakash Chopra sympathises with Axar Former India opening batter Aakash Chopra also sympathised with Axar, saying it is a bit unfortunate that the all-rounder lost his vice-captaincy to Gill. Speaking on JioHotstar after the squad was announced, Chopra said, "I also feel that it was a little unfair to Axar that he is suddenly not the vice-captain any more. But that's my opinion. Team looks fine though." The selectors left Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the Asia Cup squad. The latter made it to the reserves list. However, Shreyas wasn't that lucky. Jasprit Bumrah is also back in India's squad while Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two frontline wicket-keepers in the squad. Gill is all set to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma. What happens to Sanju Samson, only time will tell.
