Four arrested for murder of teenage girl and woman in Walmer
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the lifeless bodies of the victims, aged 19 and 40, were found with multiple gunshot wounds in Sakhasonke Village, Walmer township, at about 8.30pm on Thursday.
'As detectives processed the crime scene, crucial leads prompted the task team and Operation Bamba members to expand their search to local hospitals.
'At Dora Nginza Hospital, they arrested a suspect receiving treatment for a leg injury, which was later connected to the Walmer murders.'
She said further investigations led the police to a residence in Greenshields Park, where three more suspects were arrested.
'During the operation, police confiscated a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun and a box of 9mm ammunition.
'The motive behind the killings remains under investigation.
'The suspects, aged between 28 and 46, are facing charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.'

A Korsten businessman who was kidnapped on Wednesday has since been released. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the 47-year-old man was released on Thursday. 'The SA Police Service (SAPS) confirms that the man that was taken in Nielson Street, Neave Industrial area on Wednesday evening was released on Thursday in the vicinity of Motherwell. This as a man goes on to mention six names and their alleged accomplices. 'If you don't release that Muslim brother and that white lady... tonight by 9.30 all the kidnappers, all the kidnappers will face the consequences! 'So you better see that you release these people or else all the kidnappers will face the consequences tonight.' The 47-year-old's kidnapping comes after Kariega resident Theresa Minnie, 73, was kidnapped while backing her car out of her driveway in the quiet Kariega suburb of Fairbridge Heights at about 5.30am on Monday. Walmer man beaten to death outside tavern
A man has died after he was assaulted outside a tavern in Walmer Township on Wednesday night. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Walmer police had responded to a complaint of an assault next to a tavern in G-west Walmer location at about 7.19pm. On arrival, they found the body of a 25-year-old man with visible wounds to his face and head. 'At this stage, the motive for the attack remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing,' Janse van Rensburg said. The name of the deceased will be released once his next-of-kin have officially identified him. Five people have died in shooting incidents in the Eastern Cape Image: File picture Police in the Eastern Cape are searching for unknown gunmen who killed five people in separate incidents. The shootings were less than five hours apart. Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, said the motive for both incidents is not known at this stage. In the first incident, the bodies of three men were found in a house in Fairview on Wednesday. 'According to reports, SAPS Walmer responded to a complaint at approximately 9.47 pm in Orego Street, Fairview. "On arrival at the scene, the members noticed that the entrance to the fence was broken; they further noticed that the window in the lounge was shattered. "Upon further inspection, they found the bodies of three males in the main bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds and multiple open wounds to the head,' Janse Van Rensburg said. She added that police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation. "The names of the deceased will be released once the next of kin have officially identified them,' Janse Van Rensburg said. 'According to reports, SAPS Despatch received a complaint of a shooting in Dukubana Street, Kingstown, at approximately 1.05 am.
