, the legendary Filipino singer-songwriter behind the global hit 'Anak,' has died at age 72. Known as a pillar of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), Aguilar's songs shaped a generation and inspired listeners across cultures. He is survived by his wife Jovie and four children
His death was confirmed Tuesday, May 27, by Atty. George Briones, general counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), where Aguilar previously served as national executive vice president.
Aguilar's wife, Jovie, had been sharing brief updates on his condition from the Philippine Heart Center, where he had been hospitalized. 'Nakakatouch yung mga kinukumusta rin ako sa gitna ng kalagayan ni Freddie… always finding courage in the face of fear,' she wrote in a Facebook post.
