Meta launches India-first gaming accelerator to power next-gen game studios with AI and VC muscle
Meta Platforms, the parent company behind Facebook, WhatsApp and more, has announced its maiden accelerator program in India to help developers create their next breakthrough game title. The Meta Gaming Accelerator aims to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity by identifying, training, and mentoring small and medium game developers, studios and businesses so they can build world-class games at scale and at par with their global peers.advertisementIn a release shared with the media, Meta said it plans to pick 20-30 emerging Indian developers and studios in its launch phase, without mentioning the criteria of selection. Once picked, these developers and studios will have access to a structured curriculum, over a period of three months wherein they will be offered strategic guidance across 'monetisation, user acquisition, cross-border scaling, and AI-led game development,' with a special focus on how they can integrate Meta's AI tools, including Llama, into game creation and optimisation processes.Generative AI has touched almost every aspect of our lives today. Gaming is also benefiting from some of this capability, reducing turn-around time while enhancing mechanics, whether it be through seamless character development or changing the way some of these games have traditionally been sold and played. Meta including AI in its course for developers isn't surprising. But at the same time, initiatives like the Meta Gaming Accelerator are the need of the hour since they can help dispel fears and concerns that AI will spike unemployment by giving deserving people the tools and opportunity to sharpen their skills and, basically, be AI-ready.advertisement
The program is being launched in partnership with four leading Venture Capital Funds: Bitkraft Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Lumikai Fund, and Elevation Capital. Towards the end, Meta will host a demo day where participating developers will demonstrate how they leveraged its ecosystem to solve real-world growth challenges. Meta says the event will be attended by investors, Meta leadership, and industry stakeholders, providing a platform to not just showcase but also open avenues for potential funding and acquisition.'India's gaming community is a hotbed of creativity and innovation, but to unlock its full potential, we need to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity. That's why we're launching the Meta Gaming Accelerator – to provide Indian gaming developers with access to cutting-edge ad tools, expert mentorship, and critical guidance that they need to scale their businesses and take on the world,' Arun Srinivas, Managing Director and Head, Meta (India) said in a prepared statement. 'By combining expert sessions from Meta with structured guidance from the country's top Venture Capital firms, we hope to not just empower local success stories but also create a launchpad for Indian gaming companies to scale globally.'

WhatsApp users can now create AI images with ChatGPT: 3 easy steps
OpenAI has brought ChatGPT image generation capabilities to the world's most popular instant messaging application – WhatsApp. Until now, the feature was only available to users through ChatGPT web and mobile apps. With the feature coming to WhatsApp, it will now allow more users to amplify their creativity. The feature is free to use and has been introduced in regions where ChatGPT is available on WhatsApp. With the latest development, users can now create or edit images using the messaging application. For free users, ChatGPT allows one image at a time. For instance, after creating an image, it informs the user to wait for about 24 hours to create another image. We tried using the image generator on WhatsApp, and it showed the output in just two minutes. 📌To use ChatGPT on WhatsApp, one is required to save +1 (800) 242-8478 on their smartphone. Once saved, users can simply go on WhatsApp and begin conversations by simply saying 'Hi'. 📌Later, ChatGPT will ask users to link their account, for which they are required to follow prompts, and users will be directed to a secure login page. 📌After linking, one can start generating images. The bot will respond to text prompts in a matter of minutes. One can try prompts like – 'Create a surreal image of a sunny valley.' We tried linking the ChatGPT account with WhatsApp; however, the chatbot was unable to do so. It seems OpenAI is still working on linking OpenAI accounts of users to their WhatsApp, and users can expect an update soon. In December last year, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT on WhatsApp and fixed landline phones where initially users were allowed to talk to the chatbot for up to 15 minutes a month. The company had said that talking to ChatGPT on the phone line did not require an additional subscription or even an account. Users could ask personal queries, and ChatGPT could also teach them to learn about new phrases in different languages. It essentially offers a natural language interface for users. Other than image generation, WhatsApp users can summon ChatGPT for an assortment of tasks. From instant recipes to proofreading or assistance with writing, ChatGPT on WhatsApp can be an incredible tool to boost productivity. Besides, users can also upload images to get a description of the visuals. It can also help users draft instant mails, from job applications and thank you notes to writing captions for social media; the chatbot can act as your AI assistant on the go. Even before ChatGPT, Meta had rolled out its AI assistant 'Meta AI' on WhatsApp, which is capable of generating images.

After defending deceased pilots, Gaurav Taneja suggests overloading caused Air India Flight 171 crash: ‘Airlines earn maximum money from cargo'
After defending the deceased pilots of the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, Gaurav Taneja has shared another video on YouTube, offering his two cents on why he believes the flight crashed within seconds of taking off. In the clip, Gaurav referred to new data released by FlightRadar, an app that allows users to track air traffic in real time. The YouTuber, who served as a commercial pilot for over a decade and was formerly a captain at AirAsia, explained that the new data shows the Air India flight took significantly more time to take off compared to the usual duration. Gaurav Taneja presented the takeoff footage and highlighted that dust was seen lifting from the runway, indicating that the aircraft may have been on an unpaved surface. He also pointed out that the plane took off from the very end of the runway, which he implied was unusual. He said, 'The flight took a lot of distance on the runway. And after takeoff, the speed is washing away. There was something wrong with the aircraft. Was there a problem with the loading of the aircraft? Because before, crashes have happened.' Gaurav cited the example of a crash in Aurangabad in 1993, which occurred due to overloading. Gaurav continued, 'The aircraft is overloaded because airlines earn maximum money from cargo, and they report less cargo on paper but actually they overload the aircraft. Was that the reason behind the crash?' He also mentioned a flight from Tel Aviv that met with an accident due to an error in recording cargo weight. He concluded the video by saying, 'More details are awaited, we will update you soon.' On Monday, Gaurav Taneja had also dismissed the theory blaming the crash on pilot error. He said, 'It's very easy to blame the pilots when they are not there to defend themselves. Boeing and Air India both are big companies so leave them and let's blame the pilot. Also, it gets easy to claim insurance if you blame it on the pilot. That is one more reason for big companies to not take it on themselves. Americans think Indian pilots aren't very competent but that's not the case.'
