Sea Bears donating tickets to wildfire evacuees
The Winnipeg Sea Bears are giving wildfire evacuees a chance to take in a basketball game this weekend. The team has donated 800 tickets to Sunday's game against the Saskatchewan Rattlers for 800 evacuees to attend. 'We hope this small gesture offers evacuees a bit of comfort and fun during a challenging time,' said President Jason Smith, in a news release. 'This is what community is about, standing together in difficult times and doing what you can to help.' The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs identified people to come to the game and is distributing tickets. Tip off on Sunday at 2 p.m.

15 outdoor Toronto pools opening early this weekend
With warm and humid conditions making their summer comeback, the City of Toronto is offering some early relief from the heat. While the full summer schedule for city pools starts June 28, the city has announced it's opening 15 outdoor pools ahead of schedule. They'll stay open until mid-September. Outdoor pools opening Saturday: Alex Duff Memorial Pool (Christie Pits Park). Alexandra Park. Broadlands Community Recreation Centre. Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools. Gord and Irene Risk Community Recreation Centre. Goulding Community Recreation Centre. Halbert Park. Maryvale Park. McGregor Park Community Centre. O'Connor Community Centre. Pine Point Park Outdoor Pool. Riverdale Park East. Roding Community Centre. Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool. West Mall Outdoor at Dennis Flynn Park. The pools will be open weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Splash pads are now open across the city and wading pools will open on June 27. All other outdoor pools will open on a partial schedule on Saturday, June 21 and on a full schedule on Saturday, June 28.
