Gabe Vincent wishes he would've played better during the NBA playoffs
One of the reasons the Los Angeles Lakers lost in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of this year's NBA playoffs was their lack of offensive support. From game to game, they had a lack of players who consistently produced, and that deficiency extended throughout their roster.
One role player who played particularly badly was guard Gabe Vincent. He had stretches during the regular season where he shot very well from the outside, but against Minnesota, he made just 35.7% of his shot attempts and went just 30.8% from 3-point range.
In his exit interview, he expressed some regret over his poor play, although he was glad he was able to stay healthy throughout the season.
Via Lakers Nation:
'I was glad to play a full year after last year and being injured, playing only a handful of games,' Vincent said. 'It was great to be there for the whole season. I had some stretches where I found some good rhythm, but I would've loved to have more of an impact tonight obviously and in this series as well.'
Vincent came to the Lakers two summers ago on a three-year, $33 million contract after a strong postseason run with the Miami Heat when they unexpectedly reached the NBA Finals. He missed most of the 2023-24 campaign due to a knee ailment, and it left Lakers fans feeling very skeptical that he would ever contribute.
He appeared in 72 games this season, but he shot just 35.3% from 3-point range. Although he's a gritty defender, when he isn't hitting from the perimeter, he tends to be a dead weight on the court.
His best value to the Lakers at this point will likely be as salary ballast in a potential trade for a productive center or wing.

Kevin Durant Trade Talks Facing Early Roadblocks

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The NBA offseason is slowly approaching, and we can expect significant movement. That was the expectation as we approached the offseason, and so far it is fitting the bill. Sunday saw the first of what should be many trades this offseason that occurred between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic. The Magic acquired guard Desmond Bane, while the Grizzlies acquired four unprotected first-round picks. It was a deal that shocked the NBA world, but it won't be the only one that will do so. The summer of Kevin Durant is off and running. The expectation is that he will find a new team, and it is likely to happen before the start of free agency. Although Durant has listed his preferred teams, the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, or Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns aren't impressed with any offers that have come their way. ESPN's Brian Windhorst appeared on Get Up and shared how the Suns have not been swayed by the offers they've received for Durant. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Durant would likely sign a long-term contract with one of those three teams. Durant's value on the trade market remains a bit of a mystery. While he's arguably still a top-10 player, he's also 36 and on the back end of his prime. The asking price will undoubtedly be steep — but how much a team is truly willing to give up for him is the real question. The 36-year-old is entering the final year of his deal and becomes extension-eligible on July 6. As things stand, the likelihood of Durant remaining in Phoenix beyond next season feels slim. The Suns are expected to explore trade options, hoping to maximize his value while still building around Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Booker, a franchise cornerstone, has spent his entire career with the Suns. It's obvious he wants to stay in Phoenix long-term — and the organization feels the same way. Durant is the odd man out, and he will likely be with his fifth team of his career as he is set to enter his 18th season in the league. It's clear that he's closer to the end than to the beginning. With that said, Durant will likely want to finish his career somewhere he not only wants to be, but also somewhere he can compete for a title. Austin Reaves Breaks Silence on Lakers Future

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. As the Los Angeles Lakers enter the offseason, there have been many questions involving the roster. Los Angeles has some big decisions to make this summer, and how they build the team could determine the future as well. One question involves guard Austin Reaves and his time with the team. Reaves will be a free agent at the end of next season, and there has been plenty of trade speculation around him. But the Lakers guard has now broken his silence on his desires, saying that he wants to remain in Los Angeles for his entire career. "I think the sky's the limit for us. We're moving in the right direction. Obviously, adding Luka (Doncic), it gives you a hall of fame player such a young age that you can build around, and then obviously, still having Bron (Lebron James), the IQ, and still running around at forty years old, but I want to be in LA. I want to play my whole career in LA. I love it there. I love the fans. Love the weather, love the golf. And obviously the Lakers is the best organization in basketball. (on trade rumors) I don't pay attention to it. I keep my head down work, and I feel like that's one of the reasons I'm where I'm at."
