Arch-rivals India and Pakistan, who had heightened military tensions in May, are set to clash in Colombo during the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup in October, TOI reported. The tournament will will jointly be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. As per the hybrid model agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB, Pakistan will play all their matches in Colombo. India will travel to Sri Lanka for the marquee group-stage clash.Earlier this year, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy, with the Men in Blue playing all their matches in Dubai.
Two months later, India and Pakistan were on the verge of a full-fledged war. On April 22, there was a terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam. In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The next three days saw intense military confrontation from both the nations.
The eight-team Women's World Cup, played in a round-robin format, begins on September 30, with hosts India taking on co-hosts Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
The first semifinal will be played in Guwahati or Colombo (depending on Pakistan's qualification) on October 29, and the second semi final is scheduled in Bengaluru on October 30. The grand finale will be held on November 2 in either Bengaluru or Colombo.Matches will be held across five cities, including Bengaluru, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Indore in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka.The full tournament schedule is expected to be announced by the ICC on Monday.

Playing close to the body and resisting the temptation to chase deliveries outside the off stump will be crucial. India's batting will revolve around Rahul, Pant, Gill, and Jaiswal. Attention will also be focused on Karun Nair, who is poised to make his international return after a long absence. The bowlers will need to focus on bowling a driving length to encourage batsmen to drive, thereby increasing the chances of inducing an edge. This is easier said than done, particularly as the pacemen have become accustomed to bowling shorter lengths on the flatter pitches used in the Indian Premier League. Jasprit Bumrah remains the spearhead of the pace attack. The Haryana teenager won an unprecedented third consecutive individual ISSF World Cup stage gold in the women's 10m air pistol, two months after a memorable debut in Buenos Aires. She went where no Indian has ever gone before. The other highlight was Arya Borse and Olympian Arjun Babuta's tremendous win over the Chinese world record holders Sheng Lihao and Wang Zifei, the former also the Olympic champion in the event, in the 10m air rifle mixed team final, where they completely outgunned their opponents 17-7. Elavenil Valarivan (women's 10m air rifle), a two-time Olympian, and Sift Kaur Samra (50m rifle 3 positions women), Olympian and world record holder, also reinforced their status as world-class shooters with their bronze-winning performances in Munich. Elavenil also set a new qualifications national record of 635.9 en route to her bronze while Suruchi equalled Manu Bhaker's qualifications national mark of 588 in the women's air pistol. In keeping with the trend this year, Indian World Cup debutants also delivered encouraging performances in strong fields. Ananya Naidu shot a solid 632.4 to finish 13th in women's 10m air rifle, while Nishant Rawat (10m air pistol men) and Aditya Malra (air pistol men) shot scores of 582 and 578 to finish 10th and 27th respectively. India made a total of seven finals in the 10 events in Munich with Bhaker (women's 25m pistol), Varun Tomar (men's 10m air pistol) and Chain Singh (men's 3P) making the cut. A total of 11 nations including the individual neutral athletes group won medals in Munich. The ISSF bandwagon will move to Lonato Del Garda in Italy next month for the year's fourth Shotgun World Cup stage, while the fourth and final rifle/pistol World Cup is scheduled for Ningbo in China in September.
