The Kent city named best place to live less than an hour from London
As the days get longer, you might be looking at taking more weekend breaks.
London has great public transport links to practically anywhere in the UK, making destination options endless.
But if you would prefer a quick journey to your getaway, then you are in luck.
The historical city of Canterbury is less than an hour from central London and offers a wealth of activities to enjoy over a long weekend.
Plus, it was previously named the best place to live in Kent by the popular website Muddy Stilettos.
A train journey to Canterbury takes just over 50 minutes from St Pancras, or for a slightly cheaper but slower option, you can catch a train from Victoria Station that takes an hour and a half.
Canterbury is well known for its deep historical roots, with medieval and Roman connections that still exist today.
With Roman walls surrounding the city centre and the Westgate towers welcoming you on arrival, you see the city's rich history from the moment you arrive.
Canterbury Cathedral is the region's most iconic landmark, with its grand style, being the oldest Christian structure in England and also being part of the World Heritage Site.
Along with the city's history, there is also a great shopping scene, from the Fenwick department store to a large Primark and endless amounts of independent and quirky shops.

Here Are the 10 Best Hotels in the World, According to La Liste
It's impossible to name a best hotel in the world, but you can declare a 10-way tie. That's according to La Liste, a company that publishes hotel and restaurant rankings by synthesizing vast troves of press coverage rather than judging properties independently. Its top 10 list, released exclusive to Bloomberg ahead of wider distribution on June 3, consists entirely of tied scores for the top prize. The winners include the beloved London icon the Connaught, with its feted bar and three-Michelin-starred restaurant (an eponymous spot by French chef Hélène Darroze), and J.K. Place Capri, a stark-white, 22-room cliffside hotel where airy seafront rooms will go for around $2,000 a night this summer. When determining its rankings, La Liste considers reviews from 400 sources such as the Telegraph, Forbes travel guide and Bloomberg's own travel reporting. The content gets pushed through a proprietary algorithm to generate a score on a 100-point scale, similar to the methodology used for the company's global restaurant rankings. That's how 10 hotels ended up in a tie for first place—and how 47 hotels received 99 points in a tie for second, including previous winner Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice.
