Traffic plan issued for 8th, 9th, 10th Muharram processions in Karachi
According to a statement issued by the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Karachi, all traffic on M.A. Jinnah Road, from Guru Mandir to Tower, will remain suspended for security reasons during the processions.

For district Central:*
Commuters from Nazimabad can take Nishtar Road via Lasbela Chowk and Garden.
Those coming from Liaquatabad can head towards Central Jail via Teen Hatti, Lasbela Chowk, and Martin Road.
Vehicles from Hassan Square towards PPP Chowrangi can access Nishtar Road through Kashmir Road, Society Signal, and Lasbela Chowk via Jail Flyover.
*For district East:
Vehicles from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards the Exhibition area (Numaish) via Shahrah-e-Quaideen can use Society Light Signal to turn right onto Kashmir Road.
From Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) to Guru Mandir, vehicles can use Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
For district South:
Traffic from Garden Zoo towards M.A. Jinnah Road can detour via Uncle Saria to Coast Guard and Holy Family Hospital.
Heavy/commercial traffic diversions:
Heavy vehicles from Super Highway and Gulberg towards M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted at Liaquatabad No. 10 via Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, Habib Bank Flyover, Estate Avenue, Sher Shah to Mauripur. The same route applies for return.
Heavy vehicles from National Highway towards the city will use Shahrah-e-Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, and follow the same route via Sher Shah to Mauripur for return.
No light or heavy traffic will be allowed past Guru Mandir towards the procession route. All vehicles will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar.
M.A. Jinnah Road Restrictions: Only vehicles bearing official procession entry stickers on their windshields will be permitted on M.A. Jinnah Road. Such vehicles must access the area via Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Society Light Signal.

From Nazimabad via Lasbela, Albela, Garden Jamaat Khana, Soldier Bazaar No. 3 Signal to Numaish.
From Liaquatabad via Teen Hatti, Jehangir Road, Guru Mandir to Numaish.

From Gulistan-e-Johar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal via University Road, Old Sabzi Mandi, Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal to Numaish.
Vehicles for Sabeel/Niaz Distribution: Only vehicles providing sabeel, niaz, or tabarruk will be allowed to enter the procession from the Tower/Memon Masjid entry point.
The spokesperson stressed that no parking will be allowed on the procession route.

Senate unanimously passes six private bills
The Senate on Monday unanimously passed six private members' bills, while deferring three others on the request of the movers. The approved legislation included the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023; the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2023; the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024; the Higher Education Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024; the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (Amendment) Bill, 2024; and the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition on Employment of Children Bill, 2022. The house deferred three bills on the request of the movers. Winding up the debate on a motion moved by Senator Sherry Rehman regarding the alarming rise in gender-based violence across the country, the minister described the statistics presented in the House as deeply concerning. Tarar said that Pakistan already suffers from an over-legislated legal framework, and stressed that private member billsespecially those concerning criminal lawshould undergo rigorous scrutiny. Addressing the issue of domestic violence, the minister acknowledged that while all provinces had enacted relevant legislation, the federal capital was still awaiting the passage of its law. He said that there were serious flaws in the investigation and prosecution processes, noting that weak case preparation and poor coordination between police and prosecution often led to acquittals. To ensure fair trials and stronger conviction rates, the minister called for involving prosecution services from the investigation stage. He said that societal mindsets, family pressure, and the misuse of laws frequently led to the withdrawal of domestic violence complaints. Moving the motion, Senator Sherry Rehman said that over 32,766 cases of violenceincluding honour killings, kidnappings, and rape-cum-murderhad been reported across the country.

Kohat police, CTD foil major terror plot
A major terrorist plot was foiled in Kohat as two serving officials of the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) were arrested for allegedly facilitating the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Kohat police and the CTD carried out a joint operation and arrested two key suspects allegedly linked with the TTP. Addressing a press conference at Kohat Police Club, Regional Police Officer Abbas Majid Marwat, flanked by DPO Dr Zahidullah and SP CTD Saadat Khan, revealed that the arrested suspects were not only facilitators of the banned outfit but also serving employees of security agencies. The RPO disclosed that one of the accused, Siraj, was a constable in the District Police, while the other, Firdoun, was serving as a CTD personnel. During interrogation, both confessed to plotting terrorist attacks, including targeting senior police officers during Muharram, carrying out bomb blasts at the Police Lines mosque, CTD police station, and other government buildings, as well as attacking Muharram processions. The suspects have been remanded in police custody for 15 days for further investigation. Authorities said the arrested men have admitted to their crimes, and a large-scale operation is underway to trace their network and other facilitators. Officials added that the timely action by police and CTD averted a major tragedy. Meanwhile, four alleged outlaws were killed in an exchange of fire with Pizo police in Lakki Marwat district on Monday. According to police, they received information that a group of armed bandits was present on the Dera Ismail Khan Highway, planning to commit a robbery. Acting swiftly, a police team rushed to the spot and found the suspects attempting to loot a truck. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened indiscriminate fire. The police retaliated in self-defence, triggering a fierce gun battle. After the firing subsided, a search operation was launched in the area, during which four suspects were found dead. They were identified as Shah Zeb, Qayyum, Shahid Rehman, and Usama.

Pakistan committed to eradicating terrorism: PM Shehbaz

Chairing a review meeting of the counterterrorism steering committee in Islamabad on Thursday, Sharif said, 'The State of Pakistan is committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism at its roots, and the world acknowledges Pakistan's successful operations against terrorists.' He highlighted that Pakistan's anti-terrorism strategy includes ground operations, legal reforms, public engagement, and countering extremist ideologies. He directed the committee to ensure strong coordination between federal and provincial authorities and strict implementation of recommendations. The prime minister also praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their role in major operations such as Zarb-e-Azb, Radd-ul-Fasaad, and the recently concluded Marka-e-Haq, which he described as a "historic battle" recognised globally as a major success. 'The entire nation, including the families of officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, takes pride in their bravery and selflessness,' he said. Sharif acknowledged the contributions of provincial governments, the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Interior, and Counter-Terrorism Departments—particularly Punjab's CTD—in the fight against terrorism.
