Southwick Village wins 2025 Best of Senior Living Award
SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – Southwick Village was recognized with the A Place for Mom 2025 Best of Senior Living Award for its top service to seniors and their families.
Southwick Village is one of 75 StoryPoint Group communities that were recognized with this award, placing StoryPoint number one in the nation as a senior living community group.

A Place for Mom winners are determined based on consumer ratings and reviews from senior residents and families. Communities with an overall review score of 9.5 or higher and at least ten reviews during the award period are eligible for the award.

Many residents and local officials came together to celebrate Portuguese Heritage Month with a flag-raising ceremony. (WWLP) – The City of Easthampton has partnered with a new online platform designed to streamline and accelerate the management and exchange of record requests for government agencies and law enforcement. Public records can be made at which allows users to submit and track requests through their account. Easthampton officials say they implemented this technology to provide transparency, efficiency, and better service to the community. They aim to reduce response times, ensure compliance with public records laws, and enhance the overall experience for requesters. Pittsfield seeking volunteers for Housatonic River cleanup
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) and the Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) are seeking volunteers for the annual Housatonic River cleanup. Easthampton Fire Department teams with Baystate Health for blood drive The cleanup will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Interested volunteers are encouraged to meet at Wahconah Park to begin cleanup of the river's west branch. It is recommended for participants to wear old clothes and sneakers, a hat, waterproof boots or waders, and sunglasses, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. BEAT and HVA will also be providing a limited number of waders for volunteers to borrow. Canoes will be on site to transport all trash and debris found at the banks and bottom of the river throughout the event. Organizers said that these cleanups have made a significant difference in the Housatonic River's health, finding a variety of unusual items in the water. Notable trash included shopping carts, televisions, mattresses, and even an empty ATM. BEAT and HVA said that the gradual decrease of trash in the river would not be possible without the help of volunteers each year.
