
OPSC AFO result 2024 declared at opsc.gov.in; here's how to check
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced the written exam results of the Assistant Fisheries Officer posts, Group-B under the Fisheries & ARD Department under Advertisement No 36 of 2023-24. Eligible candidates can download their results from the official website opsc.gov.in.
A total of 47 candidates have been shortlisted to appear for the document verification and interview round scheduled to be conducted from June 24 to 26, 2025. The written examination was held on December 22 at Cuttack in two shifts. The recruitment drive aims to fill up a total of 26 vacancies.

Kanniyakumari collector holds meeting with Indian maritime experts
Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena convened a meeting with Indian maritime experts at the district collectorate on Wednesday, regarding the impacts on the Arabian sea following the sinking of a cargo vessel off the Kochi coast. Speaking at the meeting the collector noted that the district comprises 42 coastal villages spread across a coastline of 71.05 km. Since May 27, debris including the plastic pellets (nurdles) , wooden logs, cashew nuts, iron rods have been washing ashore in the several coastal villages of Kanniyakumari district. Following the guidelines provided by Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, officials from the departments of Pollution Control Board, Revenue, Fisheries, Fire and Rescue service have been actively involved in clearing the debris along the coastline. The collected materials are safely stored at respective block and municipal offices. The collector also mentioned that she had conducted discussions with coastal police officials from Gujarat, as well as the Gujarat based agency engaged in debris clearance operations along the coast. In line with this, a meeting was held with maritime experts and officials of insurance company to assess the impacts in the Arabian sea region. During the meeting the collector also sought information regarding the procedures involved in rescue operations of the sunken cargo vessel MSC ELSA 3.

Deputy CM Udhayanidhi inaugurates Tamil Nadu Fish Food Festival at Chennai
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday inaugurated the 'Tamil Nadu Fish Food Festival 2025' organized by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare at Island Grounds in Chennai. The festival will be held for three days till June 1. According to an official release, the objective of organising the festival was to help the public gain knowledge about various fish-based food items. More than 50 stalls, an exhibition hall for ornamental fishes were among others set up at the venue. Cultural events and cooking competitions will be organised for students and women from fishing communities. This festival also aims to raise awareness about health benefits. Minister for Fisheries, Fishermen Welfare and Animal Husbandry, Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekarbabu, MPs Dayanidhi Maran, Kalanidhi Veeraswamy, MLAs and officials were among others present.
