Saints raise season ticket prices after posting their worst record in decades

USA Today18-02-2025

The New Orleans Saints have a proud fanbase, but they have a strange way of expressing appreciation for it. Season ticket renewal invoices went out this week, and prices are going up — fresh off the team's worst record in two decades. On top of that, the Saints will play fewer home games at the Caesars Superdome in 2025 (eight of them) than they did in 2024 (nine). The 17-game schedule has AFC and NFC teams trade off an extra home game each year.
So it's safe to say Gayle Benson didn't invest so much money in improving the Superdome out of charity. She's going to get that back by raising costs for fans to keep their seats.
Depending on the number of tickets and where their seats are located, season ticket holders I've spoken with report increases of $28 to $260 per seat for the 2025 season. Those reflect increases of between 5% and 15%. It's not immediately clear how that compares to other teams around the league, but few franchises are coming off their worst performance in as many years as New Orleans. Before 2024, the last time the Saints won five games or fewer was the Hurricane Katrina-impacted 2005 campaign. The Saints aren't exactly reading the room here.
But they are running a business. And so long as fans remain devoted and willing to pay those prices, that's what the ticket office will charge. You just have to wonder where the tipping point lies. If they can't end this four-year playoff drought soon, it'll be tough to make sense of rising costs for a subpart product.

LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier makes appearance at New Orleans Saints minicamp

LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier makes appearance at New Orleans Saints minicamp LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier appeared at the New Orleans Saints minicamp this week. As Nussmeier prepares to begin his fifth year at LSU, Nussmeier's Dad, Doug Nussmeier, is getting ready for year one as the Saints' offensive coordinator. Nussmeier worked alongside new Saints head coach Kellen Moore in Philadelphia. Moore intends to call the plays, but tabbing a familiar face in Nussmeier to administer the offense made perfect sense. While at the camp, Nussmeier was seen talking to Moore. He also took time to sign autographs. There's already speculation about Nussmeier being an option for the Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft. Nussmeier is expected to be one of the top QBs on the board, and the Saints are projected to have one of the top picks. The Saints picked QB Tyler Shough in the 2025 draft, but there are questions about his long-term viability as the Saints' starter. Nussmeier was one of the best quarterbacks in the country as LSU finished the season on a three-game win streak. According to BetMGM, Nussmeier ranks No. 2 on the Heisman Trophy odds board, only trailing Texas QB Arch Manning. 2024 was Nussmeier's first season as LSU's full-time starter. In four years at LSU, Nussmeier has 5,772 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Reggie Bush's exhilarating 88-yard TD is the Saints Play of the Day

Reggie Bush's exhilarating 88-yard TD is the Saints Play of the Day We're down to 88 days until the New Orleans Saints kick off their 2025 regular season with the Arizona Cardinals, which makes this 88-yard touchdown by Reggie Bush our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. Facing the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship Game with a Super Bowl bid on the line, Bush did his best to give the Saints a spark in the second half. Trailing 16-7 and stuck on 2nd-and-5 from deep inside their own territory, Drew Brees dropped back to pass and found Bush streaking down the sideline on a wheel route. He chopped his feet at the top of the route and forced safety Danieal Manning into a bad pursuit angle, then took off with nothing but snowcapped grass in front of him. It was an exhilarating moment, and his frontflip at the end of it made it one of the most memorable touchdowns of Bush's rookie year. You can see it all for yourself here. A John Carney extra point put the Saints in good position, 16-14, and the defense got a quick three-and-out on Chicago's following possession. But the Saints couldn't capitalize on this swing in momentum. Billy Cundiff missed a 47-yard field goal, Brees was fouled for intentional grounding from the New Orleans 5-yard line (resulting in a safety), and the Bears pulled away with a 21-point fourth quarter. An almost magical 2006 season came to a close for the Saints. But this proved they were battle-ready. This was a team that could go the distance. And a few years later, they did; Bush and Brees took turns hoisting the Lombardi Trophy after winning Super Bowl XLIV a couple of seasons down the line. A more consistent performance from Sean Payton's offense in 2006 may have made a big difference on that chilly day in January. But there's something to be said for practicing patience.
