I have used this (on sale!) Amazon mop for over a year — if you're a clean freak, it's the best
I was raised by a bonafide clean freak (hi, mom), and thus, I was taught from a very early age that cleanliness, at least in our household, was, in fact, next to godliness. As I am my mother's daughter, I tend to vacuum every other day and mop once or twice a week.
For many years, my mop of choice was the Swiffer WetJet Spray Mop. It's great on tough messes and leaves behind a fresh, clean scent. However, refilling the pads and cleaning solution adds up, so I was after a new mop that checked two important boxes: 1) it had to have reusable pads, and 2) it didn't require a specific cleaning solution.
After some research, I ended up with the JOYMOOP Mop and Bucket with Wringer Set. This versatile mop is a No.1 bestseller on Amazon and comes backed by more than 41,000 reviews. If you're looking to invest in some new cleaning essentials, I'm here to help you determine if this one lives up to the hype. Read my honest review below.
The details
This 2-in-1 mop system features two separate chambers for washing and drying, so you're never left with too much leftover liquid on the floor. Between the chambers, there's a scraper blade that squeezes out the liquid from the microfiber pads and removes any remaining grit, hair, dust or dirt.Best made-in-Canada cleaning brands to clean your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room & more
A therapist told me this home organization hack can 'lower your mental load.' I tried it and here's why you should, too
The average washing machine smells 'like a swamp' — here's how to clean it, according to an expert
The mop head can rotate 360 degrees to tackle hard-to-get-to areas, including underneath furniture, baseboards and your walls. Its adjustable stainless steel handle extends from 26.5 to 50 inches, and the mop comes with three machine-washable microfiber mop pads.
If you're short on storage space, you'll be happy to know the JOYMOOP Mop and Bucket requires very little of it. All the pieces can fit inside the bucket, and the bucket itself takes up less space than your standard mop.
💸 Reasons to buy
The scraper is great: There's a lot I like about this 2-in-1 mop and bucket system. Firstly, it is straightforward to set up (and dismantle). Secondly, it works! If you find a traditional wringer mop to be a pain in the you-know-what, the scraper addition to the JOYMOOP mop is thoughtful and practical. I find it removes water far more efficiently than a wringer mop, and if you scrape it a few times, it won't drip or leave behind an excessive amount of water on your floor.
The mop pads: Additionally, I love how it has a mopping pad instead of a giant mop head. Cleaning your floors feels more akin to a Swiffer than a mop because you can be super precise.
Universal cleaning solution: Unlike a Swiffer and similar to a traditional mop and bucket, I also appreciate how you can customize your cleaning solution. You don't need to constantly re-buy a specific solution or mopping pads.
The pads are machine-washable: One of the main reasons I wanted this mop is because I wanted to be able to throw the pads into the washing machine. They wash beautifully (I air dry them to avoid any possible shrinkage), and because they're microfiber, I feel comfortable throwing them in with other towels or dish rags.
✋ Reasons to avoid
It needs a third compartment: There's very little I dislike about this mop, however, I do wish there was a way you could separate the clean and dirty water. The scraper scrapes the grime back into the clean water, so if your floors are particularly filthy, you may need to go over them more than once to feel satisfied with the clean.
It's best for bigger jobs: The mop requires a minimum amount of water to be fully submerged. Because you need to fill the bucket every time you mop, it's better to use it for an entire floor, thorough mop rather than a quick clean-up.
💬 What reviewers say
The JOYMOOP Mop and Bucket has racked up more than 41,000 reviews and a 4.5-star rating on Amazon Canada. It's a no. 1 bestseller, and reviewers praise its space-saving design, easy assembly, and effective cleaning.
It's "so easy to use," writes one shopper. It's "easy to ring out" and is especially good if you have back issues, as there is "no bending involved."
The bucket is "lightweight" and "not cumbersome," unlike other clunky buckets, says another. The system for rinsing and drying the mop is "really well made."
It's the "perfect house cleaning tool," and the two-compartment design is "very smart," adds a third shopper. You can even use it "vertically on walls to clean hard-to-reach areas!"
While many reviewers say it's a "sleek little" device that's "incredibly convenient" and efficient, others agree the one "design flaw" is that the dirty water empties into the clean side. "You're rinsing your mop in the dirty water," according to one reviewer.
🛍️ Do you need it?
If you are sick and tired of your wringer mop or single-use cleaning kit, the JOYMOOP Mop and Bucket is a practical, reusable and affordable option. It's the sweet spot between a Swiffer and a traditional wringer mop: It provides a thorough clean, won't leave pools on your floor, and the mopping pads are machine-washable. However, the mop needs to be submerged in quite a bit of water and there's no compartment to separate the clean and dirty water — two things to consider before placing your order.

Read 2 Succeed: Helping kids understand big feelings this school year
As any parent or caregiver knows, helping children navigate big feelings and everyday conflicts isn't easy. Kids can struggle to express themselves clearly, and even the most patient adults sometimes get stuck finding the right words in the heat of the moment. That's where stories come in this school year. Books offer a safe and meaningful way to talk with children about emotions, empathy, and healthy relationships. Through the experiences of relatable characters, children can see how others handle anger, sadness, fear or frustration—and begin to name and understand those emotions in themselves. Stories spark conversations that help kids grow socially and emotionally, while also building stronger connections with the adults in their lives. Children need to see themselves – and others – reflected in the pages they read. When a child feels seen in a story, the lesson becomes real, memorable and powerful. When they read about others' lived experiences, it helps expand their empathy, cultural awareness and curiosity. What is Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)? Social-emotional learning is about helping children: Understand and manage their emotions Show empathy for others Set goals and make good decisions Build strong friendships and healthy relationships. It's not just something that happens in school – it starts at home, in everyday conversations, playtime, routines, and, yes, reading together. Supporting SEL at Home Here are a few simple ways to support social-emotional growth with your child: Talk about feelings – yours and theirs. Name emotions when they come up. Model healthy communication – show how to listen, take turns and apologize. Practice problem-solving – use real-life situations to talk through choices. Celebrate effort and growth, not just outcomes. How Reading Helps Reading together can be a powerful tool for building social-emotional skills. Try choosing books that explore emotions, friendships, loss, bravery or community. As you read: Pause to ask, 'How do you think that character feels?' Invite your child to share a time they felt the same way. Talk about how the character handled a challenge – and if they would do the same. Reflect together after the story ends. These conversations support both emotional growth and reading comprehension – a win-win. Building a Social-Emotional Library at Home A great SEL library doesn't have to be big, but it should be diverse and relevant. Look for books that: Reflect your child's background, family structure and community Introduce characters from different cultures, abilities and life experiences Explore themes like empathy, resilience, kindness, grief or identity Need ideas? Check out these 5 recommended SEL children's book titles from R2S. Your local librarian can also be a wonderful resource, or check out curated lists from organizations like Lee & Low Books. Books don't solve every problem, but they can open the door to meaningful connection, insight and healing. When we read with our kids, we're not just building readers – we're nurturing whole, emotionally healthy humans.
