Former Wright State star Brandon Noel transfers to Ohio State

Yahoo10-04-2025

COLUMBUS Ohio (WDTN) – Ohio State's latest transfer portal addition is one of Wright State's most dominant players.
After a stellar three-year career with the Raiders, star forward Brandon Noel is making the leap from the Horizon League to the Big Ten to join Jake Diebler and the Buckeyes in Columbus for his senior season.
The 6-foot-8 Lucasville, Ohio native recorded 19 points per game for the Raiders this past year, while adding 7.7 rebounds per contest.
The two-time second-team All-Horizon League selection shot 55.2% from the field and 35.8% from three in 2024-25.
Noel played in 97 games with 90 starts for Wright State and averaged 15.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and shot 37% on threes all-time at WSU. After redshirting his first two seasons, Noel was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year after an exceptional 2022-23 rookie campaign.
Noel is the second Wright State player to transfer to Ohio State in recent years, following Tanner Holden. Holden played the 2022-23 season with the Buckeyes before rejoining the Raiders for his final year of college eligbility.
Noel will also join former Indiana guard and Centerville alum Gabe Cupps as transfer portal additions for the Buckeyes so far this offseason.

BOOM! Ohio State receives commitment from 2028 running back from Florida

BOOM! Ohio State receives commitment from 2028 running back from Florida While Ohio State is still putting the finishing touches on the 2026 class and has the framework in place for the 2027 class, the Buckeyes just got their first commitment for the 2028 cycle with the addition of Florida running back Elijah Newman-Hill. Out of Tampa, Florida, it's still too early for Hill to be ranked by the major recruiting services but you can bet if Ohio State offered and accepted a commitment from a kid that doesn't graduate until 2028, the coaching staff must be impressed with what it sees. And for Hill, the feeling must be mutual if he was ready to get on board shortly after attending one of the camps at Ohio State. Though Hill plays on both sides of the ball in high school, there's no doubt he's being looked at as a running back for OSU. This past season, he carried the ball 80 times for 829 yards for Blake High School. It's pretty early on in the 2028 recruiting class, and more than ever, in today's age, it'll still take a lot to keep him in the recruiting class. ontact/Follow us @BuckeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Ohio State news, notes and opinion. Michigan Takes Subtle Dig at Ohio State With Bryce Underwood in Latest Social Media Post

Michigan Takes Subtle Dig at Ohio State With Bryce Underwood in Latest Social Media Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes have one of the most famous rivalries in college football, dating back to their first meeting on Oct. 16, 1897. Advertisement The Big Ten rivals last met on Nov. 30, when Michigan upset heavily favored Ohio State 13-10 in Columbus. Nine days before that game, the Wolverines made news of another sort when 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood decommitted from LSU and chose to attend Michigan. Underwood, 17, originally committed to the Tigers in January 2024 but changed his decision after meeting with Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore, according to ESPN's Eli Lederman. In his senior year of high school football, Underwood passed for 2,509 passing yards and 32 touchdowns and was awarded Gatorade Michigan Player of the Year honors. It was the first championship for the 46-year-old Day and the ninth in program history. Advertisement While the Buckeyes dominated the college football scene during the playoff, their rivals took the opportunity to take a subtle dig at the national champs on X. In a new video promoting EA Sports College Football 26 posted to the Wolverines' X account on Thursday, a video game version of Underwood can be seen scrambling around the pocket before spinning past a Buckeyes defender and getting open to sling the ball down the field. While College Football 26 will be enjoyed by fans around the world, the next time the Buckeyes and Wolverines face off outside of a video game will be Nov. 29 at Michigan Stadium. Despite the joy of watching their team win the national title, Ohio State fans are desperate to see their team defeat rival Michigan for the first time since 2019. Former Bengals Linebacker Germaine Pratt Signs With Raiders

Former Bengals Linebacker Germaine Pratt Signs With Raiders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cincinnati Bengals' defense has been a topic of consternation for much of the offseason. The unit helped waste a season of quarterback Joe Burrow's prime and the Super Bowl chances that come with it. After the early stages of free agency and the NFL Draft, it may not have gotten much better. Advertisement The Bengals are currently without their best defensive player, edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, as he holds out in search of a better deal. His new partner in crime (and potential replacement), edge rusher Shemar Stewart, hasn't seen the field because of a Cincinnati-style game of unnecessary hardball. Making matters worse, the Bengals cut linebacker Germaine Pratt months after he requested a trade. His replacement, linebacker Demetrius Knight II, also remains unsigned. Cincinnati's former linebacker signed with an AFC competitor on Wednesday, putting pen to paper with the Las Vegas Raiders just days after hitting the open market. His contract, a one-year deal, is worth up to $4.78 million. 'Sources say Germaine Pratt had a very hot market after being released by the Bengals and had several teams interested in him,' Jordan Schultz reported. Advertisement 'The Raiders ultimately made the most sense with the opportunity he'll have with Pete Carroll and DC Patrick Graham's defense.' Pratt had a rocky 2024 campaign, although he remained productive against the run, logging a career-best 143 tackles. Despite logging two interceptions for the third consecutive season, he was a part of a back-seven that struggled immensely, and his coverage woes may have helped run him out of town. However, Pratt is positioned to bounce back with the Raiders. Head coach Pete Carroll has made a career out of exceeding expectations on defense. Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham did that in 2024, leading a league-average defense with one of the NFL's lesser rosters. Perhaps cutting Pratt is the best for both sides, giving him a second chance to flourish and new defensive coordinator Al Golden a chance to shape the second level in his vision. Given Cincinnati's actions across the defense this offseason, though, some will be less willing to give the staff the benefit of the doubt. Advertisement The Raiders will not play the Bengals in 2025, barring a date in the AFC playoffs. With how competitive the conference looks to be, Pratt could play an outsized role in both teams' fates.
