Hunt for missing Scots pensioner who vanished two days ago
A frantic search has been launched in an effort to trace a Scots pensioner who went missing two days ago.
Henry Nicol was last seen on Friday night, July 11, at around 7:15pm in Dee Avenue, Renfrewshire.
Cops have described Henry as 5ft 9inches, of medium build, clean shaven or light stubble with grey/white hair. Inspector Derek Scrimgour said: 'As time goes on, we are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Henry. 'I would again ask residents who live in the local area to check any outbuildings, sheds or covered areas in case Henry has sought shelter there. 'Footage captured on private CCTV or doorbell cameras is crucial. I would ask local householders and businesses to review it and please let us know if there is anything that can assist our enquiries. "Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1224 of Saturday, 12 July, 2024."

The SNP's 'soft-on-crime approach' is leaving bus drivers at the mercy of violence and antisocial behaviour, according to the Tories. Assaults and threats in Scotland's bus stations skyrocketed in 2024/25, just one year after the traffic death of bus driver Keith Rollinson in Elgin. Police call outs to threatening behaviour also increased by 50 per cent at Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, and increased at Edinburgh and Inverness bus stations. He says this is particularly worrying following the death of bus driver Keith Rollinson, who died of a cardiac arrest in hospital after being headbutted and repeatedly punched in February 2024. Bus driver Keith Rollinson, 58, died after the attack in February | Police Scotland A 16-year-old - who was 15 at the time of the assault - later admitted to culpable homicide. 'Assaults and antisocial behaviour on board, and at bus stations, is skyrocketing because offenders don't fear being caught or know they won't be property punished. 'This behaviour is threatening public safety and placing even more pressure on our already underfunded police. 'Only last year, we witnessed the tragic consequences of this spike in violent behaviour when Keith Rollinson, a bus driver in Elgin, was killed by a teenager while simply doing his job. Woman dies after tragic fall at busy Scots beauty spot in front of 'distraught' crowd Elsewhere, we told how a woman has died after falling at a waterfall popular with swimmers and sunbathers near Glasgow. The victim, 63, was fatally injured as families flocked to the beauty spot in the Campsie Glen on the hottest day of the year. Police, fire engines and an ambulance were sent to the area where a hiker was hospitalised after plunging 25ft last summer. An onlooker told The Scottish Sun: 'There was a lot of people crying at the scene. The police and ambulance service are there. I think a specialist climbing unit had also been there earlier. It's quite a hilly and rocky area. It's easy to fall over the side.' Police sealed off a nearby car park with blue tape and were stopping drivers from entering after the accident around 12.35pm. The woman was treated by paramedics but could not be saved.

Police Scotland has said there is 'no intelligence' suggesting the hit was 'orchestrated from Scotland'. But a source revealed: 'Experienced guys believe enough has been found to establish a link between the murders and gangland activity here. 'There's a reluctance to say it out loud over fears it'll pour petrol on a dangerous situation. "The Spanish police released information top brass would rather have kept quiet.' We told how Lyons, 46, was shot in the chest and died on the terrace of Monaghans Bar, in Fuengirola. Pal Monaghan, 43, was blasted to death after fleeing inside on May 31. Michael Riley, 44, from Huyton, Merseyside, was arrested in connection with the murders and is fighting extradition to Spain. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said earlier: 'This remains a Spanish police investigation.'
