Vedanta Board To Consider 2nd Interim Dividend Tomorrow, Record Date Fixed
Vedanta Ltd will hold a board meeting on August 21 to consider a second interim dividend for FY25. Shares fell 2.56% due to demerger delays and regulatory concerns.
Vedanta Ltd has scheduled a board meeting on Thursday, August 21, to consider a second interim dividend for FY25. The move comes after the company declared a first interim dividend of Rs 7 per share in June. The record date for shareholder eligibility has been fixed as August 27.
Known for its consistent shareholder rewards, the Anil Agarwal-led conglomerate paid out four interim dividends worth Rs 43.50 per share in the previous financial year.
Vedanta boasts nearly 20 lakh retail shareholders—those with authorised share capital up to Rs 2 lakh—who held an 11.25% stake in the company as of the end of the March quarter.
In a note dated May 1, brokerage firm JPMorgan projected that for the 2026 financial year, Vedanta's dividend payout might reduce by nearly half to Rs 25 per share, and is expected to remain stable in the 2027 financial year at Rs 27 per share.
'Pursuant to Regulation 29 of Listing Regulations, Notice is hereby given that the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company (the 'Board") is proposed to be scheduled on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to consider and approve the Second Interim Dividend on equity shares, if any, for the Financial Year 2025-26. Please note that the record date for the purpose of determining the entitlement of the equity shareholders for the said dividend, if declared, is being fixed as Wednesday, August 27, 2025," the company said in the filing.
However, the positive momentum on payouts was overshadowed on Wednesday as Vedanta shares slid 2.56% to Rs 438.55 on the BSE, following reports of delays in its demerger plan. According to CNBC-TV18, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has postponed hearing on the scheme to September 17 after the Centre raised strong objections. The government alleged that the restructuring concealed crucial details, inflated revenue numbers, and masked liabilities, potentially affecting dues recovery.
Adding to the troubles, SEBI has raised red flags, accusing Vedanta of modifying its demerger proposal after receiving approvals from the regulator and stock exchanges. Labeling this a 'serious breach" of its rules, SEBI issued an administrative warning, the report said.

Guntur market auction nets Rs 6 crore windfall for GMC
Guntur: Money virtually rained on Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) as it successfully completed the long-pending auction of shops in the city's wholesale vegetable market. Held 25 years after the market complex was built, the auction is expected to generate Rs 50 lakh per month from 81 shops — up from the previous rental income of Rs 6.7 lakh. This marks a staggering 550% revenue jump, with annual earnings projected at Rs 6 crore against the earlier Rs 81.58 lakh. The auction process was fraught with political resistance. GMC commissioner Puli Srinivasulu uncovered years of deliberate stalling by traders, resulting in major losses to the exchequer. After tracking multiple court cases over six months, he secured high court clearance to proceed. Local MLA Mohammed Naseer opposed the move, demanding that existing traders be retained with nominal rent hikes and objecting to the proposed SC/ST reservation system. Despite pressure, commissioner Srinivasulu released the auction schedule. MLA Naseer escalated the matter to municipal administration minister Dr Narayana, seeking a five-year lease extension for current traders. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? With no relief from the CMO, Narayana reviewed the issue with city MLAs, who criticized the commissioner. However, the minister upheld the auction plan, citing court orders. Backed by Union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and mayor Kovelamudi Ravindra, the commissioner conducted the auction from August 18–20. For the first time, SC/ST reservations were implemented —four shops allotted to SCs and two to STs. Following the auction, rumors spread that the market would be relocated to the national highway. Mayor Nani dismissed the claims, affirming the market would remain at its current location. R Systems acquires Mangaluru-based Novigo for 400 crore
Bengaluru: The acquisition of Novigo Solutions by Blackstone-backed R Systems marks the third major buyout of a Mangaluru-headquartered tech firm in recent years, firmly placing the coastal city—and its neighbour Udupi—on India's technology M&A map. R Systems said on Thursday that it will acquire Novigo Solutions for an upfront cash payout of Rs 400 crore, with additional stock consideration tied to future performance milestones, a stock exchange filing showed. A source familiar with the deal told TOI that the total transaction value is estimated to be around Rs 950 crore. Emails sent to R Systems and Novigo Solutions did not receive responses by press time. Founded by Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, Mohammed Hanif, Mohammed Jarood, and Shihab Kalandar, Novigo offers low-code/no-code development and intelligent automation services to clients across BFSI, hi-tech, and manufacturing sectors. The company reported Rs 264 crore in revenue for the 2024-25 financial year, with an EBITDA margin of 25%. It has a 1,000-strong workforce, primarily based in Mangaluru. Niveus had built a strong presence across financial services, automotive, retail, and logistics. This acquisition streak began in August 2021, when TechnoPro Holdings of Japan acquired Robosoft Technologies, based in Udupi, in a Rs 805 crore two-phase deal. Founded in 1996 by Rohith Bhat, Robosoft counted Apple as its first client and later worked with Disney, Warner Bros Pictures, Paytm, and Heineken. At the time of that deal, Robosoft had about 1,000 employees, including 600 in Udupi. TechnoPro said the acquisition expanded its customer base in Japan, while Robosoft's leadership described it as validation that a global-scale digital services company could be built and exited from a small coastal town. Together, the three acquisitions—Robosoft in 2021, Niveus in 2024, and Novigo in 2025—underscore how Mangaluru and Udupi are emerging as significant hubs of value creation in India's tech industry. Each deal was valued at over Rs 800 crore, positioning the coastal belt alongside larger metros in producing companies that attract global strategic buyers.
