Jake Fischer: Rockets might be Kevin Durant's top trade preference
Since last Saturday, it's been widely reported that the three preferred trade destinations for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant are the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and San Antonio Spurs.
Because the All-Star forward's current contract expires after next season, his choice to sign (or not sign) an extension carries significant weight in these talks, since many teams won't risk surrendering significant asset capital if they might lose him as an unrestricted free agent a year later.

But among those three teams, is there one in particular that Durant and his agency representation might push even harder for? Earlier this week, The Athletic's Sam Amick said it could be San Antonio, citing something the Timberwolves were allegedly told during their negotiations with the Suns (Minnesota is seemingly reluctant to bid aggressively unless Durant wants to be there).
But Friday, in a Bleacher Report video, veteran NBA insider Jake Fischer (now of The Stein Line) indicated that it could be Houston that Durant most desires.
'They might be the spot that Kevin Durant wants the most, when all is said and done,' Fischer said as part of a 2025 mock draft. Should a Durant deal with the Rockets reach the finish line, Houston's No. 10 overall pick in Wednesday's first round could potentially be part of the trade.
A Durant deal is reportedly possible at any time, with the upcoming draft a key date in the talks. Should Phoenix acquire a 2025 draft asset as part of the trade, finalizing a deal prior to the draft would allow the Suns to make such a selection for themselves, as opposed to having a player chosen for them by another team.

But as great as Durant is as a player, he turns 37 years old in September. Thus, Houston is reluctant to dip too deeply into its warchest of assets. That's led to an ongoing standoff in recent days, and the Rockets' hope is that perhaps Durant's leverage will ultimately win the day and force a deal on their terms.

Sophomore WR Breakouts For 2025 Fantasy Football Starting with Marvin Harrison Jr, he's an easy name to put down, but it needs to be said. With how good Nabers and Thomas looked, it was a bit disappointing that the highest-drafted receiver didn't have the same elite stats. That said, let's calm down. Harrison is just 22 years old, and he was an elite prospect coming out of Ohio State. In 2024, Harrison had 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. This is a good rookie season, and it puts him in the perfect position to have a massive year two. With a bit of natural development and another year to build chemistry with Kyler Murray, Harrison is set up well for 2025. Pearsall was shot leading up to the NFL season, which is a good reason to throw away his 2024 campaign entirely. While Pearsall only played in 11 games, he looked great down the stretch. In fact, in all games where Pearsall had at least six targets, he had 17 points or more. It's a small sample size, but in the final two weeks of the season, Pearsall had 28.7 and 18.9 points. With Brandon Aiyuk recovering from his ACL and MCL injury last season, Pearsall has the opportunity to become the WR1 or WR2 on a good 49ers offense. While the two players ahead of Adonai Mitchell are a lot safer projections, there's a path for him to produce in 2025. Mitchell was drafted with the 52nd overall pick (round two) of the 2024 NFL Draft, giving him strong team investment. Although the Indianapolis Colts wide receiver room is fairly crowded with Josh Downs and Michael Pittman in town, Mitchell had a strong rookie season. Although the box score stats won't blow you away, Mitchell was 9th in ESPN's open score last season. This tells me that Mitchell is getting open, but the quarterback play isn't good enough to get him the ball. While Anthony Richardson is likely going to start for the Colts next year, Daniel Jones is now on the team as well. Jones has a lower ceiling, but he's shown more accuracy than Richardson so far. With Mitchell, he has a real chance to break out if something falls his way. Mitchell either needs Richardson or Jones to take a big step. While that's not a sure thing by any means, I'm betting on the talent of Mitchell in 2025 fantasy football.

According to Bleacher Report, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN says the team is nearing a deal. "Teams have a hard time reconciling how much they're gonna have to pay at that contract," Fowler said. Fowler also said that the Rams are not the only team in the mix. That means at some point a cornerback-needy team will come calling. Speculation remains as to how long that will take, varying from a mid-season trade to a deal in the coming weeks of the NFL offseason. MIAMI (AP) — The Atlanta Braves placed reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale on the 15-day injured list Saturday because of a fractured left rib cage. 'He was doing his exercises (Friday) and felt like something wasn't right,' manager Brian Snitker said before the Braves' game Saturday against the Miami Marlins. 'So they had him looked at and it showed what it showed.' In his previous start, against the New York Mets on Wednesday, Sale sprinted off the mound and made a diving stop of a grounder hit by Juan Soto and threw him out for the first out in the ninth. He then struck out Pete Alonso and was lifted after allowing a single to Brandon Nimmo. 'It's just a freak thing. An unfortunate thing,' Snitker said. 'I saw him after the game that night and he was doing his postgame workout. And then I saw him the next day and I think he maybe felt a little uncomfortable the next day. But then (Friday) is when he wanted to get it checked out.' Sale is 5-4 and has a 2.52 ERA through 15 starts this season. The 36-year-old left-hander threw a season-high 116 pitches and 8 2/3 innings against the Mets. 'It's a tough blow for us and him,' Snitker said. 'It was going so good. That's a rough one.' After six seasons with the Boston Red Sox, Sale was traded to the Braves in December 2023. Sale won the pitching Triple Crown in his first season in Atlanta, finishing with an NL high in wins (18) and strikeouts (225) and a league-low ERA of 2.38. Snitker doesn't have a timeline when his star pitcher will return. 'With bones like that, they've got to heal before you can start the process, but I have no idea how long it will be,' he said.
