Good Samaritan stabbed while helping victim of armed robbery outside suburban home in Victoria
A man is in hospital after he tried to help the victim of an armed robbery on Tuesday night.
A woman was robbed when she approached two men who had parked their vehicle next to another car on Sepal Dr at Mickleham, about 45-minutes north of Melbourne, at 9.20pm.
The men were armed with a golf club and a knife.
'They stole her mobile phone,' Victoria Police said.
That is when another man stepped in to help the woman, but he was stabbed by one of the offenders.
The suspects fled, and no arrests have been made.
The Good Samaritan was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbours told 7NEWS they could hear screaming from inside their homes.
One man said that crimes had been increasing in the suburban area, noting that one car had recently been stolen from the street, and another dumped.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

CCTV shows Brisbane jewellery store robbery that leaves owner with brain injuries
A manhunt is underway after four armed thieves robbed a Brisbane jewellery store and attacked the owner before fleeing. The violent robbery unfolded just after 5pm on Tuesday at Shree Ganesh Jewellers on Gympie Rd in Chermside, when the masked men stormed the store, smashing display cabinets with hammers and metal bars. The store owner, 38-year-old Bijaya Sunar, who was working at the time, was struck in the head several times with a hammer. He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition. 7NEWS understands Sunar required emergency surgery to remove a haematoma on his brain. The group stole a large amount of jewellery and escaped in a grey Honda CR-V, Queensland registration 495ZJW, believed to have been stolen from Alfred Circuit in Calamvale two days earlier on Sunday. Police have released CCTV footage and images of the suspects, appealing for public assistance to identify them. All four wore balaclavas and dark clothing, and they varied in build and complexion. The first man was captured on CCTV wearing a high-vis, long-sleeved shirt, grey sweatpants, a green and brown cap, and a black balaclava. He is described as having a dark complexion, athletic build, and is believed to be in his late teens or early twenties. The second man was seen wearing a dark hooded jumper with 'Beverley Hills' written across it, a black ski mask-style balaclava, black gloves, and black Nike track pants featuring a white Nike logo on the upper left leg. He is described as having a dark complexion, a large build, and standing over 182cm tall. The third man was dressed in a black hooded jumper, black balaclava, and grey track pants. He is described as having a fair complexion, a proportionate build, and average height. The fourth man was seen wearing a dark hooded Air Jordan jumper, a black ski mask balaclava, and grey track pants. He is described as having a dark complexion, a solid build, and standing at approximately 182cm tall. Police believe the Chermside heist may be linked to another armed robbery at a Lutwyche jewellery store on May 8. In that incident, a group armed with axes and hammers entered the store on Lutwyche Rd at about 1pm, smashed glass cabinets, and stole a significant amount of jewellery. A woman suffered minor injuries from shattered glass, but no other injuries were reported. The group later fled in a white Hyundai Accent Hatchback with Queensland registration 801YLM, which was believed to have been stolen from a home on Samford Rd the day before. Detective Senior Sergeant Ken Rogers said identifying and arresting these offenders was a top priority. 'There is absolutely no place for violent crimes in Brisbane's north,' Rogers said. 'These offences are outrageous. 'We have zero tolerance for anyone who puts our community's safety or their livelihood at risk.' Anyone who recognises the suspects or has information about the vehicles involved is urged to contact police. They used crowbars to smash their way to $500,000 worth of gold. 7NEWS warns some viewers may find these pictures confronting.

Bodies found in granny flat: investigation under way into 'suspicious' deaths
Investigators have descended on a leafy, suburban street after two bodies were discovered in a backyard granny flat. The bodies were discovered at 9.30pm on June 11 in the Cannons Parade flat in Forestville on Sydney's Northern Beaches after a friend of the deceased asked police to check on the couple. A man, believed to be aged in his 40s, and a woman, believed to be aged in her 50s, were found at the flat, police said. They are yet to be formally identified. Detective Superintendent John Duncan said the couple hadn't been seen since June 7. They were known to the NSW Police "for minor matters", but the detective superintendent said they had no reported history of domestic violence in NSW. Emergency services forced entry to the flat, as "the premise was secure on police arrival," Detective Superintendent Duncan said. Their cause of death is yet to be established, but the detective superintendent said the bodies suffered lacerations. Three pets - two dogs and a cat - were in the flat with the bodies, police said. The animals were taken to a vet for assessment. "If anybody has any information about any suspicious activity in Cannon's Parade over the last four days, we encourage them to contact either Northern Beaches Police or Crime Stoppers on 1-800-333-000," Detective Superintendent Duncan said. Investigators have established a crime scene, and inquiries under Strike Force Donnybrook have begun into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Home searched over fatal Truganina house fire believed to be linked to illegal tobacco war
Police have searched a home in Melbourne's south-east in relation to a house fire that killed a 27-year-old woman earlier this year. WARNING: This story contains details that some audience members may find distressing. Officers say they seized mobile phones from the house in Dandenong, but no arrests were made. Katie Tangey was house-sitting for her brother at his Truganina home while he was overseas on his honeymoon, when arsonists set the townhouse alight on January 16. Ms Tangey called triple-0 just after 2am on the night of the fire to say she was trapped inside the burning home. She was later found dead inside the home. Ms Tangey is the first person to die in a deliberately lit fire linked to the ongoing turf war involving the state's illicit tobacco trade. Victoria Police said a "significant investigation has taken place to determine the motivation for the attack and who was responsible". "We are absolutely determined to provide what closure and justice we can to the family of Katie Tangey," Detective Inspector Chris Murray said. "The least we can do is make sure those responsible for this tragedy are held accountable for their actions." Police believe the arson was linked to the state's tobacco wars, but said the Truganina home had been mistakenly targeted. An investigation into the fire has been ongoing since January, with an anonymous tip-off leading to the property raid on Thursday. "We know this is solvable, and we know we are getting closer," Detective Inspector Murray said. Following a public appeal for information, Victoria Police said an anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers provided a pseudonym or nickname. Police have urged the caller to get back in contact to provide more details. Previously obtained CCTV footage captured two people getting out of a dark coloured car parked outside the Truganina home. An explosion can be seen in the footage before the pair leave in the car, believed to be a BMW X3 or X5. In April, police released an image of a man they believe was connected to the attack. The man is described as Middle Eastern in appearance, and aged between 25 to 30, with a slim build. The second person's identity was still unclear.
