Michael Douglas has no 'burning desire' to act again
Michael Douglas doesn't have a "burning desire" to act again.
The 80-year-old actor was last seen on screen as Benjamin Franklin in 2024 Apple TV+ miniseries 'Franklin' but has been focusing on working with his production company, Further Films, in the months since then and he is "enjoying" having more time to spend with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Michael - who has Cameron, 46, from his first marriage to Diandra Douglas and Dylan, 24, and Carys, 22, with Catherine - told Deadline: 'I'm enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life.
'It was overwhelming running the production company and acting at the same time."
The 'Wall Street' star isn't giving up acting entirely but he'd only get back on camera for the right project.
Asked if he will act again, he added: 'Yes. If something good comes up that I really like. But I don't feel a burning desire.
"I'm still producing. I still love bringing people together.'
Michael played Dr. Hank Pym in Marvel's 'Ant-Man' movie series but he's admitted 2023's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' was his last outing in the role.
Asked if he'd play the part again, he said: 'I don't think so. I had the experience, and I was excited to do it. I'd never done a green screen picture before.'
Michael has filmed 'Blood Knot' alongside his son Cameron, but he isn't sure when fans will get to see it.
He said: 'I believe it's looking for distribution.'
Michael previously admitted he begged for a "serious" death in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'.
Speaking on 'The View', he said: '[Getting killed off] actually was my request for the third one. I said I'd like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects.
"There's got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects."
And while Michael didn't get his wish, he admitted then he was unlikely to return as Hank - who also had a brief appearance in 'Avengers: Endgame' - for another movie.
He added: "But, that was on the last one. Now, I don't think I'm going to show up [for a fourth].'

Levy has been working on the movie with Lucasfilm since 2022. Character and plot details remain unknown but last year, Levy said he is not planning to connect his work to any other films or TV shows in the long-running series. Speaking on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, he said: "I'll say that the experience of crafting this story has forced me to think about that question. Because there's only so many times that 'Star Wars' movies can revisit the same section of the timeline, and so it's really forced me, because I don't want to do a 'Star Wars' movie that is redundant to others, nor am I interested in doing one that has to serve another movie." The filmmaker - who has teamed up with his The Adam Project co-writer Tropper on the project - added he was making the flick with "tone and characters" at the forefront. He said: "I really wanted to craft something that felt organic to me, both in tone and characters, so I think that there is certainly the Force and a connection to something bigger than our individual selves. "And the way that that can make us powerful, those themes, combined with visual delight and wish fulfilment, that's Star Wars to me."

Ana De Armas gives exciting update on Deeper production with Tom Cruise
Ana De Armas is currently "training" for 'Deeper'. The 37-year-old actress is working with 'Mission: Impossible' legend Tom Cruise on Doug Liman's supernatural thriller following an astronaut who discovers a terrible force while diving into a previously unexplored trench. Asked for an update on the project, De Armas told Deadline: "Training, just training, getting ready for what's to come!" She didn't offer any further details on the movie, but De Arms did open up on some of the lessons she'll be taking forward from her 'John Wick' spinoff 'Ballerina'. She stars as ballerina-assassin Eve Macarro in the action blockbuster, and the role has taught her to "take risks". She said: 'I think it's important to keep looking for truth, answers… To keep pushing until you find your truth no matter what. 'So, take risks and get to the bottom of it.' Meanwhile De Armas - who has been inspired by the likes of Uma Thurman - reacted to the idea she can become a similar role model for the next generation of women in film. She added: "It's beautiful, if that's the effect of my work, whether it's this movie or any other roles. It doesn't get better than that! "I'm very happy, I'm proud that that would be my contribution to younger generations. "I think this character actually has all those characteristics. It's really cool! I hope that's what it does." De Armas is preparing to work with 62-year-old Hollywood icon Cruise on 'Deeper', and she was delighted to see him supporting 'Ballerina' so publicly on his own red carpets. She told Variety: 'You know what, he supports every movie. He really wants the industry and cinema to do well and [wants] people going to the theaters. We're working on something with Doug Liman and ['Mission: Impossible' director] Christopher McQuarrie, and those guys are unbelievable at everything they do. "And they're so lovely and a great team, and the process we're having is amazing. And of course I'm doing crazy training, as you do when you're working with Tom. "It's another level that just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. But it's so much fun. And we're not only working on that thing that we're training for, but also a couple other things too. We just got excited."
