National Bourbon Week 2025
Whiskey lovers: There's a new, weeklong celebration for you. The second annual National Bourbon Week is set to return in 2025, with a full schedule of festivities taking place in the Bourbon Capital of the World.
From June 9th through 15th in Bardstown, Kentucky, distilleries will partner with restaurants, hospitality groups, musical acts, and more to celebrate bourbon and the community surrounding it. Bardstown's self-proclaimed moniker—Bourbon Capital of the World—stems from its central role in the industry, and the surrounding area boasts an incredibly high concentration of whiskey producers both big and small.
Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Maker's Mark, Bardstown Bourbon Company, Barton1792, Lux Row, Preservation, Old SteelHouse, and Log Still are among the area distilleries taking part. National Bourbon Week is a relatively new collaboration between area distilleries and local tourism groups to encourage events in late spring/early summer. (As a former Bardstown resident, I can personally attest June is a prime time to visit, right before the summer heat really kicks in.)
The slate of events throughout the week includes whiskey, music, culinary experiences, and more. Events start Monday and run all the way through Sunday, June 15th. Some highlights include (via a non-exhaustive list):
A number of family-friendly events will also take place, including a new (and free to attend) Kids Zone on June 14th. All events are held independently, so visitors and locals alike can pick and choose the itinerary that works best for them.
And for those who would rather sip local brews, Bardstown Rotary Club will host a beer garden on Saturday, June 14th.
'This weeklong celebration is a true toast to the spirit, craftsmanship, and community that make us so special,' says Stacey Phelps, president of Visit Bardstown. 'Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just discovering your love for bourbon, there's no better place to be than Bardstown during National Bourbon Week.'
Located around a 45 minute drive south of Louisville, Bardstown is a longtime center of whiskey production and an integral stop on Kentucky's Bourbon Trail. In addition to more than ten distilleries and bottling facilities in the surrounding area, Bardstown is also home the the Oscar Getz Museum of Bourbon History.

Old Fitzgerald Returns To Its Roots With New 7-Year-Old Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon

Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 7-Year There's a quiet kind of prestige in a bourbon that doesn't shout to be noticed. For generations, Old Fitzgerald has held that role in the whiskey world—a wheated bourbon with a reputation for refinement, favored by bartenders, collectors, and those who know the value of legacy in a glass. Now, Heaven Hill Distillery is giving the brand its most accessible spotlight in years with the launch of Old Fitzgerald 7-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey—a new signature expression that connects its storied past with an open invitation to the next wave of whiskey fans. And it comes with impeccable timing: 155 years after the Old Fitzgerald trademark first appeared in 1869. Built on the success of the high-end Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series introduced in 2018, this new 7-year-old release strikes a balance between heritage and approachability. Priced at approximately $59.99 for a 700ml bottle, it's positioned as a more attainable bottle for both longtime admirers and curious newcomers. The bourbon is aged for seven years in Level 3 charred new American oak barrels and bottled at 100 proof, meeting the stringent standards of the Bottled-in-Bond Act. It leans into the brand's signature wheated profile with a mashbill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. From the moment the cork pops, the whiskey reveals its character: a bright copper hue in the glass and a nose that conjures graham crackers and honey. The palate brings warmth and structure—fresh bread, brown sugar, and baking spices—while the finish delivers a cozy taper of cinnamon sweetness fading into oak. 'Seven years proved to be a sweet spot for a whiskey that already transcends expectations for a wheated bourbon,' said Heaven Hill Master Distiller Conor O'Driscoll. 'This refined bourbon carries the same layered elegance its longer-aged sibling made famous, and the same commitment to excellence found in every bottle from Heaven Hill Distillery.' Alongside the liquid, the bottle itself offers a masterclass in nostalgic design—familiar yet refreshed. The diagonal red 'Old Fitzgerald' wordmark harkens back to the 1884 trademark. 'Your Key to Hospitality,' a phrase first found in the brand's vintage ads, now appears front and center on the label and is blown into the base of the bottle. Elegant fluting on the shoulder and a diamond-faceted closure pay homage to the 1950s diamond decanter bottles that helped cement Old Fitzgerald's premium identity. Transparency is also part of the packaging ethos: 'Bottled-in-Bond' is boldly noted on the label, and the distillation season and year are stamped on the neck wrap—clear nods to quality and authenticity. And authenticity is something Heaven Hill takes seriously. The distillery owns more Bottled-in-Bond brands than any other, carrying the torch for a category that demands high standards: a single distillation season, a single distiller, and aging in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years. To Heaven Hill Executive Chairman Max Shapira, Old Fitzgerald isn't just a brand—it's part of a personal and national history. 'This is a brand that's near and dear to my heart. I remember some of the early ads the brand is now harkening back to – and what makes me most proud is that throughout decades of changes, Old Fitzgerald has stood the test of time and maintained its unwavering commitment to quality,' Shapira said. 'It mirrors my family's story in many ways... Today, we're sharing Old Fitzgerald's story, legacy and quality with a new generation of whiskey lovers who will experience the key to hospitality.' That hospitality will take physical form in the months to come: the rollout of Old Fitzgerald 7-Year-Old Bottled-in-Bond will be accompanied by a series of nationwide partnerships and immersive experiences designed to celebrate what it means to welcome someone in—glass in hand. With this release, Heaven Hill isn't just debuting a new bourbon—they're reasserting Old Fitzgerald's place in the pantheon of American whiskey. It's a bottle made for sipping neat by the fire or sharing across the table, equally at home in a collector's cabinet or behind the bar.

New whiskey tasting room coming to NuLu in 2025. Here's where to find it

A new whiskey tasting room will open later this year in NuLu. The WhistlePig PiggyBank is expected to open in late August at 403 E. Market St., which marks the Vermont-based whiskey maker WhistlePig's first Kentucky location. The whiskey maker plans to offer by-appointment-only tasting experiences with different tiers of tastings as well as custom cocktails and retail merchandise. "We're super excited to come down and be a part of the (Kentucky) Bourbon Trail," Meghan Ireland, chief blender at WhistlePig, told The Courier Journal. "We've launched our first bourbon in 2022 ... and its price category right now really has allowed us to reach a whole new set of consumers." WhistlePig, which was founded in 2007 at an old 1800s farmstead in Vermont, started as a rye whiskey company. "We like to call it, bringing rye whiskey back to the U.S., but have since really started to grow into other branches of whiskey, including single malt and bourbon, which is part of the reason we're coming down here to the heart of American whiskey," Ireland said. More: Here are 23 food, drink, music and art festivals you can attend this summer in Louisville While the space is currently a construction zone, WhistlePig is ready to bring its vision to life. Upon entering the space, which was once a bank and has been repurposed into a tasting room, visitors will see a host stand and a set of stairs leading up to the mezzanine level private tasting room. On the other side of the space, guests will be greeted by a grand bar where they can sip cocktails. Additionally, the space will feature an outdoor patio for guests to lounge that boasts a "fire pit vibe." There will also be an area where people can buy bottles and wearable merchandise as well as take advantage of photo opportunities. The space will lean deeply into the bank theme throughout. WhistlePig will use the old bank vault to display its "vault" of products including, "super-archived offerings, really rare whiskeys," Lexi Kuerschner, marketing lead for WhistlePig said. More: When is National Bourbon Week? Here are 5 things to know and do to celebrate this year "We got super excited around the idea of the vault, that is something we have been calling our high end and collectible whiskeys for the past two or three years," Ireland said. "We saw this bank come up (for sale) with the vault, and we were like, that's spot on." In addition to the vault, the bank theme will be noticeable at the bar where guests can watch the bartender create a "bank shot," which is a drink that will travel through a bank deposit tube to the guest at the bar. "There's really going to be something for everyone," said Kuerschner. "It's really going to be a unique spirit experience in the sense that you'll be able to taste our entire portfolio in one place, which you cannot get anywhere else."
