Hawkerboi
Credit: Hawkerboi
Located in the heart of JLT, Hawkerboi is a cool neighbourhood spot that serves Asian-style hawker food with bold, fresh flavours from an open kitchen. Interiors will make you feel like you're in a cool undiscovered underground bar in South-East Asia, with red neon piping and cool artwork. Music is at a perfect volume for date night chats and lights are low.
This is clearly the kind of place where you're meant to have unpretentious fun (exactly what you need for a first date).
The menu is influenced by bustling street-food hawkers in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, so you can both explore something delicious and have a nice story to tell your kids one day.
Mon-Thu, noon-3pm, 6pm-midnight; Fri-Sat, noon-3pm, 6pm-1am, Sun, noon-4pm, 6pm-midnight. The Park, JLT, eatx.com/hawkerboi (050 427 5217).

SOON Izakaya
Credit: SOON Izakaya
Yes, it's located in the basement of a JLT Hotel, but don't let that put you off. SOON Izakaya is undeniably cool and you'll look cool for recommending it. The anime-inspired space and the mix of 70s, 80s, and 90s disco classics will immediately put you in a care-free mood, (perfect for those with any first-date jitters), and that's before you begin enjoying the eclectic mix of food and drinks.
What's more, the prices are reasonable – even more so during happy hour, so take your date here and they'll be very impressed with your venue choice.
Tue-Thu 5pm-1am, Fri-Sat, 5pm-2am, Sun, 5pm-1am. Cluster P, JLT, soondxb.com (055 434 0575).

Soul Kitchen
Credit: Soul Kitchen DXB
If you want to try something totally unique for your date night, then check out Soul Kitchen at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront. The supremely cool restaurant serves up a menu that fuses Levantine and Latin American flavours in a space that showcases alternative art, culture and music.
Soul Kitchen bills itself as a multi-room experience which has a vinyl room and speakeasy, which means you and your date can do more than just eat there. We love the funky patterns and colours of the potted plants and shamrock green flooring. If you stay after 9pm you'll get live performances to experience together.
Mon-Thu, 6pm-2am, Fri-Sat, 6pm-3am, Sun, 6pm-2am. Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront, soulkitchendxb.com (04 836 0900).

XU
Credit: XU
Tucked away on the second floor of the Kempinski hotel, lies XU, a very cool and very moody Cantonese-inspired restaurant. Home to an edgy lounge, bar, restaurant and terrace, XU is both spacious and intimate, while the music will make you lean in to chat.
Dishes on the menu include crispy lemongrass chicken, Asian-style buttermilk prawn, and charcoal-grilled Wagyu beef ribeye with spicy peanut sauce. A dim sum selection (of course) making it a fun date night.
Mon-Fri, noon-4pm, 6pm-1am, Sat, 1pm-5pm, 7pm-1am, Sun, noon-5pm, 6pm-1am. Kempinski Hotel, Mall of the Emirates, xudubai.ae (04 394 6252).

The journey to Atrangi comes with an abra ride through Madinat Jumeirah's waterways, and while many seasoned Dubai residents have been there and done that, it'll impress any date.
The restaurant definitely takes advantage of its waterfront location, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a vast terrace that overlooks the Jumeirah Al Qasr lagoons, while the menu draws inspiration from various regions and communities of India. All in all, it's an unmatched vibe.

Located inside Kempinski Mall of the Emirates, this magical garden-inspired venue draws inspiration from greenhouses and market halls in France.
Eugène Eugène is a literal sanctuary in the heart of one of the busiest neighbourhoods in Dubai so if you're at Mall of the Emirates on a little shopping trip with your significant other, that's where you should take them for a pick-me-up.
The modern brasserie offers a cool, but relaxed atmosphere and the terrace is one of the most romantic we've seen in town.

Mimi Kakushi
Credit: Mimi Kakushi
Nestled within the sleek compounds of the Four Seasons Dubai, Mimi Kakushi is all moody interiors, cosy leather booths and expertly crafted Asian sharing plates. One of our favourite spots in Dubai for a romantic meal.
Expect a low-lit, atmospheric space layered with rich textures, hand-painted walls and beaded curtains – it's informed by Japan's jazz age and the grandiose parties of silent film actor Sessue Hayakawa, serving up modern twists on Japanese classics.
Be sure to order at least three dishes from the sushi counter and share with your special someone.
Mon-Fri 6pm-2am, Sat-Sun noon-4pm and 6pm-2am. Four Seasons Resort Dubai by Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Road, mimikakushi.ae (04 379 4811).

Thiptara
Credit: Thiptara
Flowers, gifts and grand gestures are all well and good, but is there anything more special than sharing a meal with the one you love at one of Dubai's most romantic restaurants?
That's where Thiptara comes in. Boasting pride of place by the waterfront of Dubai Fountain, its tuned-in service and prime views of the iconic water show and Burj Khalifa are only matched by its fine Thai cuisine, which has an emphasis on Bangkok-style seafood.
Dishes may be classic but they're also highly indulgent, so be sure to advise your other half to arrive hungry and/or wear loose-fitting trousers. Who said romance was dead?
Open daily 12.30pm-3.30pm, 6pm-11.30pm. Palace Downtown Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, addresshotels.com (04 428 7961).

The puffer jackets have come out to play, which means winter in Australia is well and truly here. Even though we've still got a week before the frosty season officially kicks off, many Aussies are already dreaming of warmer climates where ten degrees feels like a long-lost friend. So, where are Aussies fleeing to this winter? Expedia has just released its 2025 Winter Travel Outlook, revealing the top ten trending international hotspots – and we're already searching for the cheapest flights before you beat us to it. Plonked in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, this ancient archipelago is one of the sunniest places in Europe, boasting around 300 days of rays each year. Next up on the list was Milos in Greece, which has seen a 70 per cent spike in searches from Aussie travellers for winter. This Aegean jewel is an island-hopper's paradise, sitting pretty among Greece's 6,000-odd islands. Just a ferry or flight away, Athens also earned a spot on the list, coming in as the seventh most trending winter destination with a 40 per cent increase in searches. Australia's obsession with Japan is only growing stronger, with Osaka ranking fourth (up 55 per cent) and Tokyo ranking eighth (up 35 per cent). You can score cheap flights to both cities (look out for Jetstar sales), and if you go, be sure to eat your way through Time Out Market Osaka – our first-ever food market in Asia. Harry Styles catches everyone's eyes as he strolls around London in tiny shorts

Harry Styles has sent fans into a frenzy with his latest look – not that it takes much, of course. The One Direction heartthrob was snapped on a stroll around London, displaying his gym-honed physique in a pair of teeny tiny shorts. Harry, 31, is famous for his bold fashion choices, whether it be covering Vogue in a lace dress or performing in stadiums wearing sparkly jumpsuits. But in his daily life away from the glitz and glam of showbiz, he's clearly a bigger fan of casual attire. Seen in the capital on Sunday, the As It Was hitmaker ran errands in the sporty bottoms and a comfy black sweater. The shorts showcased his very muscular legs as well as the array of tattoos Harry has on his thighs, from a tiger to French and Spanish writing. Adding to his vibrant yet chilled ensemble, he threw on a purple baseball cap and yellow tote bag, completing the look with some eye-catching footwear. Teasing what could be a huge trend for summer – let's be honest, if Harry Styles is wearing it, we're all wearing it – he strolled leisurely in a pair of Prada suede sneakers, which set him back £720. Well, we say 'set him back,' but Harry recently celebrated making it to The Times 40 Under 40 Richest UK celebrities list, with his net worth estimated at a staggering £225million. But, in true Harry style, his generosity was also noted, as he was named too on the paper's Giving List, recognising his charitable donations. The latest photos of the Grammy-winning star show him in his own world, wearing shades in an attempt to go somewhat incognito and with AirPods in his ears. However, when the pics started doing the rounds on social media, people were anything but calm. 'how am i supposed to focus on anything rn when he looks this beautiful', declared X user @flowerrysue. 'If I had those legs I would also walk around in shorts every day', wrote @ugo___________. 'i'm serious when i say men should start apologizing for not being harry styles', said @axlsugar. Fans are also anticipating the pop star releasing new music at any moment, with his last release being the mega-successful Harry's House album in May 2022. Following his multi-million-pound-grossing Love On Tour shows, Harry retreated from the spotlight for a while, specifically when his former bandmate Liam Payne died unexpectedly last October. In recent months, though, the Watermelon Sugar singer has been a busy bee, spotted here, there, and everywhere, leaving fans unable to keep up with his whereabouts. Early last month, people got quite a shock when Harry appeared in the crowd in Rome to witness the announcement of the new Pope. Having made his love for Italy known, the 1D alum blended into the spectators at Vatican City as a bell marked the election of Robert Francis Prevost, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Declaring his love for Italy when he took his tour there a few summers back, Harry even spoke Italian, revealing he was learning the language 'very slowly,' asking fans to 'please be patient' with him. 'Some of the happiest and most special moments of my life have been in Italy, and I'm very grateful for everything this country has given me,' he said sweetly. More Trending He continued: 'So, my love goes to every single one of you. Thank you for being here. Tonight, I want you to be free to be whoever you want to be.' Shortly before his recent roamings in Rome, he was seen in Berlin, and he even made a stop off in Tokyo to run a marathon… as you do. Regardless of his coordinates, fans are certain that a single announcement is imminent, what with Harry making quite the return to the public eye and with sources previously speculating that tunes could land this summer. Happy couple ‘can't wait to visit Edinburgh again' after ‘storybook wedding' in the capital

On May 15, Ben Miller and Lorenzo Garafolo travelled with 40 wedding guests from Liverpool to the capital on board a 1930s Pullman-style train before getting married at the Fingal Hotel. Speaking to the Evening News, Ben said: 'We didn't want to follow the usual formula for a wedding, we wanted something completely bespoke that truly resonated with our story as individuals and as a couple. It was a truly magical day—and I think we've created a unique experience that our guests will remember for a long time.' The Greater Manchester couple began planning their unique wedding after travelling to Edinburgh on the Northern Belle train last year. And after meticulous planning and finding the perfect venue for their ceremony, Ben and Lorenzo were ready to announce their special wedding plans – which included a 400-mile round trip in a single day for the wedding party. Lorenzo said: 'We knew it would be complex, we knew it would take a lot of planning, but seeing the reactions of our guests has made everything worth it. This wasn't just a wedding—it was a multi-sensory love story brought to life.' Ben added: 'We can't wait to visit Edinburgh for our anniversary and many more happy occasions.' Here are 11 pictures from the happy couple's magical day. 1 .
