Quinn Ewers' deer head room during the NFL Draft was just so Texas
Only two quarterbacks — Miami's Cam Ward and Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart — were selected during the first round of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night.
Heading into the second and third rounds on Friday, however, that number is almost certain to increase. One of the players hoping to hear his name called is former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, the former No. 1 recruit in America who was once seen as a surefire first-round pick but is now expected to be selected on Day 2 or 3.
As Ewers hunkered down ahead of Friday night's proceedings, he was situated in perhaps the most Texas room imaginable. The Lone Star State native held his draft party in Chico, Texas, and framed perfectly behind Ewers on the couch was a peanut gallery of hunting trophies, primarily deer.

Ewers, who led Texas to the College Football Playoff semifinals this season while completing 65.8% of his passes for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, may have to wait a while to hear his name called as he's the fifth-best remaining quarterback available, according to ESPN's board.

But if Ewers' draft wait continues, at least we know he's got some company.

Keep an eye out for this former West Virginia high school player in the NBA Finals

OKLAHOMA CITY (WBOY) — If you tuned in to Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals on Thursday night, you may have seen Indiana Pacer Thomas Bryant on the hardwood, a player who spent the formative years of his career right here in West Virginia. Bryant was born in Rochester, New York, but he spent most of his high school career at Huntington Prep School, where he averaged 17.3 points per game in his senior campaign with the Irish, ending with a 29-3 record, according to MaxPreps. Bryant was recruited out of high school in 2015 by Indiana University and spent two seasons with the Hoosiers, starting 69 games and ending with a 45-24 record, according to College Basketball Reference. That 2015 Hoosier squad also made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament, but lost to North Carolina. Following his sophomore season, Bryant entered his name into the 2017 NBA Draft, where he was selected in the second round (42nd overall) by the Utah Jazz, according to Basketball Reference. He never made his debut for the Jazz, nor did he spend that long with the team, as he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on that same day for Tony Bradley. The center officially began his NBA career for the Lakers on Dec. 23, 2017, in a loss to Portland. WVU Baseball vs. No. 6 LSU: How to watch Following the 2017–18 season, Bryant was traded around the league, spending stints with Washington, Miami and Denver, which won the NBA Finals in 2023 with Bryant on the roster. He was traded from Miami to the Indiana Pacers in December 2024 and has been a significant contributor from the Indiana bench behind starting center Myles Turner. Bryant made eight regular-season starts since being traded to the Pacers, and he put up a 39-17 record during Indiana's march to the NBA Playoffs. As of Friday, Bryant has played in 15 of the Pacers' 17 playoff games. During Game 1 against Oklahoma City on Thursday, Bryant only saw the court for eight minutes, but he shot the ball perfectly, going 2-2 on his field goal attempts and making his one three-pointer in the win for Indiana, per ESPN. Action! Derrick Henry can parlay a 2,000-yard rushing season into a movie cameo with Adam Sandler

BALTIMORE (AP) — 'King Henry' finally has the attention of 'The Waterboy.' Baltimore Ravens star running back Derrick Henry has an offer from Adam Sandler, his favorite actor, to be cast in a movie if the five-time Pro Bowl selection rushes for 2,000 yards this season. The offer grew out of Henry's appearance on radio personality Dan Patrick's show this week to discuss his $30 million, two-year contract extension. Patrick told Henry he would get him in a Sandler movie if he made NFL history with a second 2,000-yard season. Two days later, Sandler made the offer himself in a video shown to Henry on the practice field. 'That's my dawg,' a wide-smiling Henry said while watching the video. Sandler, star of 'Happy Gilmore' and the remake of 'The Longest Yard' along with 'The Waterboy,' said he was in a hotel room while filming his greeting for Henry. At one point, Sandler turned the camera to show his bulldog. 'Two thousand yards-plus this year not only gets you in a movie, but we'll have a nice dinner together and talk about Dan Patrick's facial hair and how hard it is for him to grow it,' Sandler joked in a video posted Friday. 'I love ya and keep it up.' Sandler came up during Patrick's interview with Henry because Patrick was hearing a hoodie for the soon-to-be-released 'Happy Gilmore 2.' Sandler had given Patrick the hoodie. 'Can you do me a favor?' Henry asked Patrick. 'If you ever see him again, tell him I'm a really big fan and would really love to meet him one day.' Patrick left Sandler a voice message — and Sandler responded. 'Dan you're a real one!' Henry later wrote on social media. Henry rushed for 2,027 yards with Tennessee in 2020, when he was an All-Pro and the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year in the fifth of his eight seasons with the Titans. Henry nearly did it again as a 30-year-old in a resurgence with the Ravens last season, when he ran for 1,921 yards. Saquon Barkley of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles led the NFL with 2,005 yards. ___ AP NFL:
