Pierce Brosnan responds to backlash over Mobland accent

Pierce Brosnan has responded to criticism of his 'MobLand' Irish accent, with many taking to the internet to roast his performance. The Irish Times branded his brogue in the Paramount+ series as a 'horror for the ages,' with others claiming it was deeply distracting to the plot of the Guy Ritchie-directed gangster drama. While the Mamma Mia star was born in Drogheda and spent the first few years of his life in Navan, he has worked the majority of his career in England and the U.S, further weakening his Irish accent. When is the season finale of Mobland?

It could be the beginning of the end for the Harrigans on Paramount+ as the reviews roll in for the penultimate episode of Mobland. The second last episode of the crime-drama starring Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy dropped on the streaming service on Sunday, with viewers horrified to have to wait a week to see how it all pans out for the crime family. Pierce stars as Conrad Harrigan, the head of a crime family who found their wealth through the sale of heroin, and decided to branch out into the world of fentanyl. CONTAINS SPOILERS. Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan in MobLand Pic: Paramount+ Sunday's episode saw Conrad come face-to-face with former foe Jaime Lopez with the Kerry man wasting no time in throw jabs at the cartel boss. Despite Conrad's smarmy comments, Jaime decides to go ahead with the fentanyl deal with the Harrigan's on one condition. Harry, who is essentially Conrad's fixer played by Tom Hardy, must get rid of the rat within the family. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Anson Boon in Mobland. Pic: Luke Varley/Paramount+ Elsewhere, Alice, who befriended Harry's wife Jan but is actually an undercover cop, joins the family for a dinner where all hell breaks loose, initially started by Conrad's daughter and wife Seraphina and Maeve (played by Helen Mirren) grilling the newcomer. Alice manages to slip out of the kitchen, where she carried out her plan to stitch Conrad up, with one member of the family catching her but allowing her to leave. The question bothering me right now, who's the rattt???? #MobLand — Kay (@LegendaryKay__) May 25, 2025 With the season finale airing on Sunday, there are still plenty of questions left to answer, such as who exactly is Kat McAllister, the woman who Harry reluctantly asked for two favours from, as well as who is the rat? There's also the unanswered question as to who is Kevin's (Conrad's son) other brother? Viewers took to social media following episode nine, with many devastated to be nearing the end of the show, with others wondering who the rat is. One said: 'The question bothering me right now, who's the rattt????' Another wrote: 'Jealous of anyone starting Mobland now without having to wait a full week for every episode.' A third added: 'It's only right they make Mobland's season finale at least 90 minutes because 46 minutes is definitely not enough!' The season finale of Mobland airs on Sunday on Paramount+.
