Axiom 4 Mission Return LIVE: SpaceX Dragon With Axiom-4 Crew Undocks From ISS
Astronauts Peggy Whitson, Shubhanshu Shukla, Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski, and Tibor Kapu are part of the Axiom-4 mission that lifted off for the ISS on June 25 for a two-week mission.
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, a decorated officer of the Indian Air Force, became the second Indian after Wing Commander (Later Group Captain) Rakesh Sharma to go to space since 1984 and the first Indian to go to the International Space Station.
India has allocated nearly Rs 33,000 crore for the Axiom-4 Mission, also referred to as Mission Akash Ganga, which aims to land an Indian on the moon by 2040.

In a significant achievement, Ludhiana boy Rayansh Gupta won two medals—a gold and a silver—at the 18th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO 2025) held in Jining, China. Gupta, a Class 12 student at Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, Ludhiana, represented India with distinction. Medal Tally & Awards: Rayansh Gupta – 1 Gold, 1 Silver & 1 GYM Reporter Award; Bains Charuvrat – 2 Silver, 1 Bronze; Apam Nidhi Pandey – 1 Silver; Pryanshi Ghanghas – 1 Bronze.' The Ministry further noted that the Indian team competed against 31 countries, including the USA, Germany, and Australia. 'Competing against 31 countries, including the USA, Japan, China, Germany, Australia, and others, our young scientists showcased brilliance in individual and group events (ITFI, ESP). Supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), this achievement highlights India's growing strength in science education, research, and innovation. Rayansh's mother, Shiffali Gupta, told The Indian Express: 'After successfully clearing Round 1 and Round 2 of the Earth Science Olympiad, Rayansh was selected as one of four students to represent India on the international stage in China. Before their departure, the team underwent a week-long training camp in Chennai. In a moment of great pride for us, Rayansh was appointed captain of the Indian team and had the honor of holding the national flag at the final round.' AR-VR lab construction begins at six Coimbatore corporation schools
COIMBATORE: Following positive feedback from students, teachers and parents, the Coimbatore corporation is setting up augmented reality (AR) - virtual reality (VR) labs in six more of its schools at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore. Corporation girls higher secondary schools at Ramakrishnapuram and Ranganathanpuram, Corporation Higher Secondary School at Peelamedu, Corporation P Kamalanathan Memorial Higher Secondary School at Venkitapuram, and corporation middle schools at Ganeshapuram and Masakalipalayam will get the labs. Construction work on the labs has commenced in four schools, with work expected to begin soon in the remaining two schools. Corporation commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran said, "The construction is expected to be completed within two months in the six schools. The project might be implemented in more schools depending on the fund availability. The current works are being carried under the corporation education fund." Once operational, the six labs will benefit nearly 2,500 students. P Natchatra, a Class X student at Sidhapudur Girls High School, said, "Boring subjects from social science, like World War I , were easily explained. We got to experience a real war field through VR. When it comes to science, topics like electricity were simplified." A faculty member in the school mentioned that parents provided positive feedback during a parent teacher meeting. The teacher stated, "Parents said their wards discussed the subject matter more, unlike in the past. The students' interest in the subject increased after experiencing the AR-VR labs." R Lakshana, another Class X student in the same schools, said students who often failed in subjects have now shown improvement by securing pass marks. High standards in manufacturing vital for nation's growth, says BIS official
Manufacturing products with the highest standards is key to national development, said Meenakshi Ganesan, Deputy Director General (South), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), while inaugurating a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on 'Standardisation and Conformity Assessment' at AU College of Engineering on Tuesday. She said standards strengthen institutions and systems, and the three-day FDP would give faculty exposure to Indian and international benchmarks. BIS experts will cover testing, inspection and certification. She noted that AU, which signed an MoU with BIS in 2023, has since undertaken joint programmes and research, and appreciated the faculty for nurturing talent. AU Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar announced plans to introduce a course on standardisation and conformity assessment, besides expanding BIS student chapters already active in three departments. Principal G. Sasibhushana Rao termed the programme significant in the centenary year of the college. FDP coordinator C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy said a dedicated section with BIS publications has been set up in the library, and over 120 participants have applied. BIS scientist M.A.J. Vinod and others also spoke.
