Air Force Museum implements new accessibility formats
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is taking steps to increase visitor engagement with necessary accessibility tools.
On March 22 and April 26, the Air Force Museum will offer tours in American Sign Language. The specialized tours are for those who communicate by ASL to help them have access and understanding to history pieces at the museum.
The site has also implemented braille signs and 3D tactile displays to help visually impaired individuals. Over 80 braille and 3D signs have already been installed, the goal is to increase that number soon to 91.
'We have worked with experts and educators to develop these displays, ensuring they provide a meaningful experience for visitors,' Bob Pinizzotto, the museum volunteer leading this effort. 'This is a valuable addition that allows more people to connect with the history preserved here and appreciate the legacy of the Airmen who defended our nation.'
Select tours create the chance for visually impaired individuals to learn about history by participating in hands-on experiences.

Tap the airplane icon (iPhone) or the crosshair icon (Android). You will see three words at the bottom of your screen. Give the three words. Read these words over the phone to emergency services. 'We already have several examples where What3Words has helped us find the exact location of lost people and caller locations,' wrote the BFD. Child flown to hospital following Greene Co. crash
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A juvenile was flown to the hospital after a crash in Greene County Thursday evening. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Xenia Post is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred around 7 p.m. in the 4200 block of Hussey Road. Investigation revealed a 2021 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence and hit a child in the front yard. OSP dispatchers confirmed one child was flown to Dayton Children's with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the Xenia Post at this time. Recycle unwanted appliances during event this weekend
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Those looking to get rid of large appliances can recycle them during an event this weekend. The Montgomery County Environmental Services is hosting an Appliance Amnesty weekend. Unwanted appliances will be taken for free with proof of residency at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility. WPAFB working to combat forever chemicals, water contamination Those interested can drop off appliances at the facility at 1001 Encrete Lane in Moraine on June 5-6 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and June 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refrigerators, air conditions, water heaters and stoves will all be accepted for free with proof of residency.
