Justice Department plans to reach out to Ghislaine Maxwell for a meeting
'Justice demands courage. For the first time, the Department of Justice is reaching out to Ghislaine Maxwell to ask: what do you know? At @AGPamBondi's direction, I've contacted her counsel. I intend to meet with her soon. No one is above the law—and no lead is off-limits,' Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an X post on Tuesday.
Blanche added in a statement posted by Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media that if 'Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say.'
Maxwell's attorney David Oscar Markus told CNN, 'I can confirm that we are in discussions with the government and that Ghislaine will always testify truthfully. We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case.'
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for carrying out a years-long scheme with Epstein to groom and sexually abuse underage girls.
Blanche said they anticipate meeting with Maxwell soon. A potential meeting comes on the heels of a request from the Justice Department to a federal judge to make public years-old grand jury testimony against Epstein, which took place behind closed doors against Epstein.
The Trump administration has faced increasing backlash over its handling of the Epstein files. Bondi had long promised to release as many documents in the Justice Department's possession as possible, but walked that promise back in a memo earlier this month announcing that there is no evidence Epstein kept a 'client list' or was murdered.

Trump says Epstein ‘stole' young women workers from Mar-a-Lago spa
President Trump on Tuesday claimed that Jeffrey Epstein 'took' young women working at a spa at Mar-a-Lago years ago as the president continues to be dogged by questions regarding his relationship with the disgraced financier. Trump had previously revealed that part of his falling out with Epstein involved throwing him out of the Mar-a-Lago spa for poaching employees from the resort. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One upon his return to Scotland, Trump went into further detail, claiming that one of those employees included Virginia Giuffre, who was one of Epstein's most vocal accusers. She died by suicide in April. 'I don't know. I think she worked in the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people, yeah, he stole her. And by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know. None whatsoever,' the president said of Giuffre. Trump's claims have not been independently verified. A former lawyer for Giuffre did not immediately respond to The Hill's request for comment. When asked if the other workers Epstein took from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida were young women, Trump replied 'yes, they were.' And, when pressed, he said that they were largely spa workers. 'People that work in the spa. I have a great spa, one of the best spas in the world at Mar-a-Lago and people were taken out of the spa, hired by him. In other words, gone. And other people would come and complain, 'this guy is taking people from the spa.' I didn't know that,' Trump said. He continued, 'And then when I heard about it, I told him. I said, 'listen, we don't want you taking our people.' Whether it was spa or not spa. I don't want him taking people. And he was fine then not too long after that he did it again and I said, 'out of here.'' The comments largely build from ones Trump made on Monday where was asked why he had thrown Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago resort due to the poaching of employees. 'For years, I wouldn't talk to Jeffrey Epstein … because he did something that was inappropriate. He hired help,' he said. 'He stole people that worked for me; I said don't ever do that again. He did it again, and I threw him out of the place,' Trump added. The president meanwhile has punted when asked about a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime Epstein associate who spoke with the Department of Justice last week. 'I'm allowed to give her a pardon,' Trump said. 'Nobody's approached me with it, nobody's asked me about it. It's in the news, about that, that aspect of it. But right now it would be inappropriate to talk about it.' Trump said Friday he hadn't thought about pardoning Maxwell and called on reporters to focus on other Epstein associates and other topics.

Chile hands luxury watches stolen from Keanu Reeves over to the FBI
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — Chilean authorities said Tuesday they turned six valuable watches stolen from Canadian actor Keanu Reeves — including an engraved Rolex worth at least $9,500 — over to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, months after recovering them in a police raid. The FBI will arrange for their return to Reeves, best known for his roles in action franchises like ' The Matrix ' and ' John Wick.' Chilean prosecutors told reporters that Reeves had identified the watches as those stolen from his Los Angeles home during a string of high-profile burglaries in December 2023. The announcement was made as the Trump administration's Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, arrived in the South American country for meetings with Chilean officials about transnational crime, among other issues. Noem was also the victim of a robbery attributed to a Chilean national residing illegally in the U.S., when her purse was stolen last April at a Washington restaurant. Reeves' six watches are valued at a total of $125,000, said Marcelo Varas, a police officer from Chile's robbery investigation squad. The watches stolen from Reeves' Hollywood Hills home turned up in Santiago, Chile's capital, when police raided homes and uncovered stolen cars, iPhones, luxury watches and designer purses. That operation coincided with another Chilean investigation, coordinated with the FBI, into a spate of burglaries by South America-based crime groups targeting multimillion-dollar homes in the U.S., many belonging to celebrities and professional athletes, such as Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce. In April, police in Chile announced the arrest of 23 citizens over the string of break-ins. Varas said authorities were still investigating any link between the theft of Reeves' watches and the other high-profile burglaries.
