Nesta Haselden: Death of motorcyclist accidental, inquest finds
The death of a 21-year-old who fell off his motorcycle into the path of an oncoming car was an accident, an inquest has found.Nesta Haselden died in the collision near Queen Elizabeth II High School on the A1 Douglas to Peel Road at about 16:15 BST on 7 August.CCTV footage from shortly before the collision had shown Mr Hasselden riding his Yamaha motorbike with one hand on the handlebars. Coroner Rebecca Cubbon found that he had "lost control" of his machine but it was not know why.
Douglas Courthouse heard that Mr Haselden was riding behind a Hyundai Kona in the direction of St John's, with a Nisan Micra travelling in the opposite direction towards Peel.In police interview, the driver of the Nisan said the 21-year-old had appeared "wobbly" as if he was "not in control" before falling onto the opposite side of the carriageway.A passenger in the Hyundai noted hearing a loud bang and saw Mr Hesselden on the road, with his AirPods and phone nearby illuminated with a music app displayed.
'Sensible rider'
Mr Haselden died of multiple injuries caused by the collision, the inquest heard.There were no defects on the bike and the visibility and road conditions were described as "perfect" by one witness.The court heard although the tyres on the bike were old, they had not contributed to the crash.Mr Haselden, who was a private banker and youth worker, had been working from home that day, and was making his way to a football match, the inquest heard.In a statement, his mother Leesandra Caine said he was a "sensible rider" and he had been riding a motorbike for a year and using the Yamaha since May.Originally from Burnley, the Peel resident "had the ability to make friends of all ages", she added.In October police confirmed there would be no charges in relation to the crash.Recording a verdict of accidental death, Ms Cubbon said there was "little" that the Nissan driver could do to avoid the collision.She could "not be satisfied" Mr Haselden had been using his phone at the time of the crash, she added.

A grieving family that was saying goodbye to their dying grandmother in hospital when their car was stolen tracked down the vehicle using their AirPods. Kosta Theos and his family had been farewelling their dying grandmother at Sunshine Hospital, in Melbourne 's west, on Friday. When the family returned to the car park their 2016 Holden Commodore was nowhere to be seen. The model does not have built-in tracking software, but Kosta remembered he left his AirPods in the Commodore's centre console. 'All of a sudden a light bulb clicked,' he told 7News. The AirPods provide owners with real time location updates, so Kosta and his family jumped in another one of their vehicles and gave chase. They quickly caught up to their Commodore on the road and saw it being driven erratically and weaving through traffic. 'I'm thinking it's (going to) clip a tree, or clip a car and then it would have been mayhem,' Kosta's father John Theos said. 'It was getting thrashed he was going over the footpaths, over roundabouts.' The family chased their car through the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne for an estimated total of two to three hours. At one point, the family made a desperate plea for help from police, who were reportedly unable to help. A second car in the chase, a black Subaru carrying stolen license plates, was blocking John and Kosta from getting close. But after the hours of high-risk driving, the Commodore arrived at a court and was ditched by the thieves. 'We risked our lives, we had to chase, my children were in the car, we were panicking,' John said. 'Yes, you might say: 'Why did you go?' But we've got a car that means a lot to us.' John left a frank message for the thieves. 'He wants a V8, he wants an expensive car, get a job and get it yourself,' he said.

Highland emergency services raced to the scene on the A87 at Loch Cluanie after the alarm was raised at around 11.25am on Friday, June 6. Officers were responding to reports of a crash involving a Yamaha motorbike, the Daily Record reports. The 29-year-old male rider was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he sadly later died. Police are now appealing for information. Police announce major development in search for missing teenage girl
The flatmates of a missing teenager have been charged with her murder. Police arrested 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop's housemates, James Wood and Tanika Bromley in Bundaberg, Australia today. Both Wood and Bromley were arrested on Thursday night local time and have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. The teenager's disappearance has gripped Australia since she vanished 21 days ago. Pheobe, who had been living with the couple and cops believe the teen was supposed to have boarded a 8.30am flight to Brisbane then onto Perth to meet up with her boyfriend. Detectives have suggested the pair drove Pheobe for 40 minutes to Bundaberg Airport but new CCTV footage has emerged in her case. Queensland Police said: 'Detectives have charged a 34-year-old man and 33-year-old woman with murder in relation to the disappearance of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop. 'Pheobe has not been seen or heard from since May 15. The remains of Pheobe Bishop have not been located to date.' Police continue to appeal for dashcam or CCTV footage of Ms Bromley's grey Hyundai ix35 the trio were travelling in, revealing it was a key component of the investigation into the teen's disappearance. CCTV has shown a car, similar to the one Pheobe had been travelling in before she vanished, driving through Gin Gin at 10.30am the day she was last seen - two hours after the teen was thought to have been dropped off at the airport.
