Haritha Karma Sena of Edakkattuvayal panchayat becomes a model in solid waste management
Collection of inorganic waste is carried out by 23 HKSs across 14 wards in the panchayat. They spend 15 days each month collecting waste from homes and businesses, and remaining 15 days are dedicated to processing the collected waste. Waste collected through door-to-door collection is brought to a mini material collection facility and then handed over to Clean Kerala Company.
Responsibilities of HKS extend beyond waste collection.
They manage the swap shop initiated by the panchayat, where items like soap powder, chilli powder and coconut oil are made available to public at reduced rates. Additionally, inoculants for composting waste are available. Haritha Mitram app has been fully implemented.
Panchayat president K R Jayakumar stated that efforts are ongoing to further activate green action force. Uniforms, badges and gloves have been distributed to them. Activities of green action force have been extended to all wards in the panchayat. Furthermore, an electric vehicle has been provided for the force. Jayakumar also mentioned that achieving 100% success in waste management is the goal.

Bad news for Swiggy customers, company takes BIG decision, increases platform fees by Rs…, will it affect 2 million orders?
Swiggy Platform Fees Hike On Independence Day, food delivery giant Swiggy increased its platform fee from Rs 12 to Rs 14 per order. The new rates already took effect on August 15, 2025. The company, which delivers over 2 million orders daily, says the hike is aimed at strengthening its financial position as order volumes rise during the festive season. Swiggy Increases Platform Fees Swiggy first introduced a platform fee in April 2023 at just Rs 2 per order. Since then, it has gradually increased, reaching Rs 14 now. Despite the repeated hikes, order volumes have not been affected. While a Rs 2 increase may seem small to customers, for a company like Swiggy it translates into huge gains. At current order levels, the new fee could generate an additional Rs 2.8 crore per day, Rs 84 crore per quarter, and Rs 336 crore annually. Swiggy Financial Performance According to Moneycontrol , the hike comes during the festive season when food ordering spikes. However, it is unclear whether Swiggy will roll back the fee to Rs 12 after the season ends. In the past, the company has kept higher rates even after special occasions. Last time during the New Year period, the fee was raised and never reduced after observing no drop in order volumes. In terms of financials, Swiggy reported a loss of Rs 1197 crore in the April–June 2025 quarter, a 96% jump compared to a loss of Rs 611 crore in the same period last year. Revenue, however, grew 54% to Rs 4,961 crore from Rs 3,222 crore a year earlier. Its food delivery business expanded by 19%, while its quick commerce arm, Instamart, grew by around 108%. The company's total order value rose 45% to Rs 14,797 crore, but expenses also climbed sharply from Rs 3,908 crore to Rs 6,244 crore. This latest fee hike means customers will now pay Rs 2 more per order. Swiggy says the change will help improve its services, but for customers.

HRTech startup Darwinbox raises $40M from Canada's TVG
Hyderabad: HRTech startup Darwinbox raised US$40 million (approx. Rs 350 crore) from Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG), the late-stage venture and growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP). Though the Hyderabad-based startup did not disclose the quantum of stake TVG has acquired, it said the Canadian fund picked up stake through primary and secondary transactions. The latest round comes less than six months after Partners Group and KKR led a $140 million funding round, which largely included a secondary fundraise where some of the early investors offloaded a portion of their stake and a small primary fundraise component. Darwinbox also has investors such as Microsoft, Salesforce, Peak XV, Lightspeed, and TCV. Tvm division of rlys achieves record earnings
T'puram: The Thiruvananthapuram division recorded its highest-ever gross earnings of Rs 2,323cr this year and the highest-ever passenger earnings of Rs 1,705cr, said divisional railway manager Divyakant Chandrakat. Unfurling the national flag, he mentioned that special train operations saw a remarkable increase, with 1,703 services in 2024-25, a 94% rise over the previous year. This year, 48 special train services were introduced before Onam to manage festive travel demand. The year 2024-25 marked a period of exceptional performance for the division, achieving its highest-ever gross earnings of Rs 2,323cr, passenger earnings of Rs 1,705.71cr and ticket-checking revenue of Rs 41cr. This momentum continued in the current year, with close to one lakh passengers being carried daily. Passenger earnings grew by 4.84% to Rs 570cr, gross revenue touched Rs 742cr, and freight contributed Rs 116.25cr from 1,104 metric tonnes transported. The 'One Station One Product' scheme completed 45 phases, supporting local artisans and entrepreneurs.
