100 plus terrorists killed in Op Sindoor on May 7: DGMO
New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 across nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), left more than 100 terrorists killed including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudassar Ahmad, Director General of Military Operation (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference along with DG Air Operations Air Marshal AK Bharti and DG Naval Operations Vice Admiral A Pramod, Lt Gen Ghai said among the killed terrorists those involved in the hijack of IC 814 in 1999 and the 2019 Pulwama blasts.
He said, "Operation Sindoor was conceptualised with a clear military aim to punish the perpetrators and planners of terror and to destroy their terror infrastructure. What I do not state here of course is the often stated determination of India and its intolerance to terror".
He said that the nine terror camps present in Punjab Pakistan and POJK confirmed the presence of terrorists by the intelligence agencies. Nefarious places in Muridke, the hub centres of LeT, has over the years bred infamous characters such as Ajmal Kasab and the likes of David Headley.
On the night of May 8 and 9, the DGMO said, "Pakistan flew drones and aircraft into our airspace all across the borders and largely made unsuccessful attempts to target several military infrastructure".
He said on land certain measures such as deployment of air defence and electronic warfare assets to establish integrated grid with the Indian Air Force were undertaken. UNI RBE SSP

The delegations - comprising current and former MPs and ex-diplomats - conveyed India's firm stand against Pakistan-linked terrorism and its commitment to global peace. EAM S Jaishankar had earlier praised the delegations for highlighting India's position.

DEHRADUN: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the United Nations Security Council 's (UNSC) decision to appoint Pakistan as vice-chair of its anti-terror panel was like "asking the cat to guard milk". The UN decision is not only surprising but also raises a question mark over the seriousness of the global body in the fight against terrorism, he said. Calling upon the global community and organisations, such as the United Nations, to think on issues like terrorism more seriously, he said, "Only when we are free from terrorism, will we be able to move towards the goal of global peace, progress and prosperity." Addressing a dialogue on 'National Security & Terrorism', here, he described Operation Sindoor as the biggest action taken against terrorism in Indian history, and that it was carried out in response to the terror attack on innocents in Pahalgam. He advised Pakistan to seek India's help if it is unable to take action against terrorism on its soil.

BJP minority wing's chaupal in Shaheen Bagh to encourage women to join army gets tepid response
New Delhi: Inside a hall adorned with brightly coloured banners of BJP's minority wing at Shaheen Bagh on Tuesday, a chaupal was organised to encourage women to join the Indian Army. It was a stark contrast to the passionate protests that echoed through the lanes of Shaheen Bagh in 2020. Shaheen Bagh was the epicentre of the CAA-NRC protest in 2020. The chaupal drew a small gathering of mostly party workers. When the event started, five women were present, but after a few minutes, only two were left. Both women were associated with the party's minority wing. Speaking at the event, Jamil Siddiqui, national president of BJP's Minority Morcha, said the chaupal was organised after the successful completion of 11 years of tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "We are talking about govt schemes and achievements of the Prime Minister, highlighting how he elevated India's status globally and led the country to new heights of success. We are also encouraging our daughters to step out, pursue education, and join the workforce, including the military. " Giving the example of Col. Outside the chaupal, women said they were unaware of the programme as there was no announcement or publicity about it. However, women added that Col Qureshi is an inspiring figure for them. Aeman Hayat Siddiqui, who aspires to become a teacher, said, "Col Qureshi is an inspiration. We want our daughters to make progress and make the country proud." She added, "I completed my education and am looking for a govt job. We want the govt to create more vacancies." Mariam, a NEET aspirant, said: "Col Sofia Qureshi's journey is motivating for everyone. I feel that women can achieve anything."
