BTS stars RM and V discharged after completing military service in South Korea
K-pop superstars RM and V from the band BTS have been discharged from South Korea's military after fulfilling their mandatory military service. They each saluted upon their release on Tuesday in Chuncheon City as about 200 fans, some of whom travelled from Mexico, Turkey and Brazil, cheered. Reina Lorena Quintero Sevilla spent nearly 18 hours on a plane from Mexico City. 'I swear, it didn't feel that long because we're so excited to be here, to watch the boys get released, excited to be in South Korea, in the home towns of our boys, who we love, who we adore,' she said. RM and V began their service in December 2023, while three other BTS members – Jin, J-Hope and Suga – were already months into their conscription. Jin, the oldest member of the K-pop supergroup, was discharged from the army in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged in October. Jimin and JungKook are scheduled to be discharged on Wednesday. The seventh member, Suga, is fulfilling his duty as a social service agent, an alternative to military service. He is to be released later this month. The seven BTS members plan to reunite as a group sometime in 2025. In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are required by law to perform 18 to 21 months of military service under a conscription system meant to deter aggression from rival North Korea. The law gives special exemptions to athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and ballet and other dancers if they have obtained top prizes in certain competitions and are assessed to have enhanced national prestige. K-pop stars and other entertainers aren't subject to such privileges. The BTS members were able to postpone their service, however, after the National Assembly revised the Military Service Act, allowing K-pop stars to delay their enlistment until age 30. There was heated public debate over whether to offer special exemptions for BTS members, until the group's management agency announced in 2022 that all seven members would fulfil their duties.

K-pop stars RM and V of BTS complete their mandatory service in South Korean military

Tastefully Yours – K-drama Episode 9 Recap & Review
Imperfect Cooking Episode 9 of Tastefully Yours begins with Yeon-joo heartbroken over Beom-woo's betrayal. Elsewhere, Chairman Han and the rest of Hansang celebrate Motto's three Diamant stars. A TV producer named Kim approaches Chairman Han, proposing a documentary. But she refuses. At Jungjae, Myung-sook and Chun-seung arrive at work as usual but soon realise something is wrong with Yeon-joo's mood. She tells them it will just be the three of them now but doesn't explain further. However, when her concentration wavers throughout the day, she finally tells them the truth about Beom-woo. Meanwhile, Beom-woo, who is pretty upset himself, goes to Motto. He packs up his things and apologises to Yu-jin and Young-hye, who are pretty confused at his behaviour. He then hands in his resignation. Chairman Han sees the message and then tells Sun-woo that he will be taking over Motto now. His own restaurant, La Lecel, will be shut down. Elsewhere, the Frenchman who had visited Jungjae along with his daughter and her fiancé's family in the early episodes is revealed to be working for Diamant. He calls the company and asks them to add one more restaurant with three stars in Korea. Yeon-joo closes the restaurant and goes to the Buddhist monastery. She sees her mother, the head monk, and breaks down in her arms. Afterwards, when a small child at the monastery throws a fit, Yeon-joo cooks a makeshift cake for her out of the available ingredients. The little girl loves it! Later that night, Yeon-joo tells her mother what happened with Beom-woo. Her mother listens and then points out that Yeon-joo's cooking has changed. She now prioritises the person eating rather than herself. She asks Yeon-joo to consider why that might be. The Diamant list is publicly released and everyone is surprised to see that Jungjae has been added as a special addition, receiving three stars! Chairman Han grabs at the opportunity and calls Producer Kim with an idea for a cook-off between the two restaurants. She then sends her employees to go get Beom-woo, which is how he finds out the restaurant won three stars. However, he isn't interested in the cook-off or being a part of Hansang in general. But it's not that easy. Hansang has bought the building that houses Jungjae and Chairman Han threatens to wipe it out completely. She also threatens Yeon-joo's career. Myung-sook and Chun-seung head to Jungjae to look for Yeon-joo and find a crowd of people waiting outside. This is how they learn that their restaurant won three Diamant stars. Back at the monastery, Yeon-joo finds out the same from some guests. She also hears about the cook-off. Beom-woo comes back to town and sees Myung-sook and Chun-seung, who are now working at a different restaurant. They give him a piece of their mind. He breaks the news about the fate of Jungjae and the cook-off off but they think he's conning them again. At the monastery, Yeon-joo goes to the kitchen and starts cooking. But she has a vision of her younger self who makes her realise she really wants to cook at Jungjae. That night, the head monk tells Yeon-joo that Beom-woo had visited the temple. A flashback shows Beom-woo seeing Yeon-joo at the temple but not approaching her. The head monk finds him and he talks about how he regrets being a bad person earlier. At present, the head monk encourages Yeon-joo to go back. In the morning, Beom-woo waits at Jungjae. He is pleasantly surprised to see Myung-sook and Chun-seung arrive to help protect the restaurant. They've called in the grocer and the butcher as reinforcements as well. Soon, at Jungjae and Motto, cameras and banners are set up and the staff get ready for the cook off. Despite no sign of Yeon-joo, Beom-woo encourages Team Jungjae for the competition. The Episode Review Episode 9 is a solid, engaging episode. As the heartbreak episode, there is a lot of crying and general sadness but it does not feel overboard. In fact, Go Min-si and Kim Shin-rok both do a great job in bringing out the tears, you can't help but feel for their sense of loss and betrayal. Kang Ha-neul's muted performance allows Beom-woo's regret and pain to shine through as well. As the final scene of the episode rolls around though, Chun-seung and Myung-sook warm back up to Beom-woo a little too quickly. The Diamant stars twist is what adds more action and energy to the episode. A fairly predictable move but truth be told, I did not expect it to be the French father from Episode 5. It's a nice touch! What is more unexpected is Chairman Han's reaction. A cook-off is not what I thought she would jump to but seeing as the next episode is the finale, it only makes sense for Jungjae to finally prove itself in front of Hansang. After the lovely visuals of the cake Yeon-joo made in this episode, here's hoping the finale gives us plenty more shots of delicacies to drool over.
