Tennis world goes nuts for Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu pairing at US Open

The tennis world has gone into frenzy after Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu teamed up at the US Open, as rumours continue to swirl that they may be the sport's newest power couple.
In their first round match at the revamped US Open mixed doubles, Jack Draper and his partner Jessica Pegula overcame Raducanu and Alcaraz 4-2, 4-2 – with sets shortened for the new $1.6 million event.
But despite losing comprehensively, Raducanu and Alcaraz kept spirits high, bumping fists, sharing embraces and laughs throughout.
Raducanu and Alcaraz's pairing – dubbed Raducaraz by some fans – also fuelled relationship rumours as fans speculated they may be more than just friends.
'Am I watching the start of a love story?' one person wrote on X.
'I think this could be tennis' hottest new couple,' another said.
While a third wrote: 'That was so much fun to watch'.
Rumours of the pair dating have swirled since the Brit was pictured cheering on the Spaniard at Wimbledon in June.
Since then each of the pair's social media pages continue to be flooded with questions about a potential bubbling romance.
Such is the interest in the pair that worldwide search interest in the pair is up 2.2% in the last three months.
However, the pair have denied being together and instead insist they are 'just good friends'.
'I guess I'm like, it comes with the territory, people being so curious,' Raducanu told The Guardian ahead of her doubles match with Alcaraz.
'I think they're more curious about this news than any tennis results and tennis news.
'But I just keep myself to myself, my private life to one side.
'It's always funny when people try to find something out, but I try not to read into it so much.'
The British No. 1 has returned to form in recent months, but she narrowly missed out on being a seed for the US Open singles event, which begins next week in New York.
Alcaraz will enter the US Open draw as the second seed.

Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori beat Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud in US Open mixed doubles final

Italian pair Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have accomplished their "mission" by winning the US Open mixed doubles title for the second straight year. In the controversially rejigged and reduced format, featuring just 16 pairings across a two-day carnival at Flushing Meadows, the defending US and Wimbledon champions said they were "on a mission" to prove the unique and skill of doubles experts. And, in a field featuring singles superstars like Novak Djokovic, Naomi Osaka and Carlos Alcaraz, they pulled it off with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 win over six-time major singles winner Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud. In front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium, Vavassori served for the match at 5-4 in the second set, but could not complete the hold, and Świątek then played a superb return game to break again to send the match to a 10-point tiebreak to decide the title. The Italians jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Świątek and Ruud, who came back from 8-4 down in a tiebreak to win their semifinal, staged another fightback and got back to that exact same point after Świątek double-faulted at 4-7. Vavassori got them to match point at 9-5 with a glorious backhand volley on top of the net and, after Errani's underarm serve on an ultimately unsuccessful match point, the Italians came out on top as Świątek could not handle a half volley from a searing Vavassori forehand. Persistent rain in New York on Wednesday, local time, washed out the day's qualification matches for the men's and women's singles draw. Across 14 matches, six men's and eight women's, none were able to be completed as just 45 minutes of playing time was possible before the downpour. Australian teen Emerson Jones leads 5-4 in the first set against Brazilian Laura Pigossi. Fellow Australian Astra Sharma claimed the first set against Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva from Andorra. When play resumes, Sharma will lead 6-2, 2-1.

Country superstar Morgan Wallen pulls out of Grammys race despite number 1 album

Morgan Wallen will not submit his best-selling country album for Grammy Awards consideration. The US country singer's representatives did not provide Fox News Digital with additional details surrounding the unusual decision. Wallen, 32, took the country music industry by storm with his 2018 If I Know Me debut, but only recently received his first Grammy nominations in 2025 for his I Had Some Help collaboration with Post Malone. The superstar singer released his fourth studio album I'm The Problem earlier this year, which debuted at No. 1 on the charts and extended his run as the country artist with the most debuts to top the Billboard 200. The 37-track catalogue dominated the Billboard Hot 100 charts, too, with 36 of the tracks making an appearance on the leaderboard. In addition, the album secured Wallen's spot as the only artist to earn each spot in the top 10 of the Hot Country Songs chart. Following the release, Wallen embarked on a 19-date North American stadium tour with guests including Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley and Thomas Rhett. While it's unclear why Wallen does not want to enter the catalogue for consideration, Wallen's no stranger to conflicts. One month after the release of his second studio album, Dangerous: The Double Album, in January 2021, Wallen found himself in his biggest controversy to date. In February 2021, a video surfaced showing Wallen using a racial slur while walking home with a group of friends. The singer uttered a racial epithet and used other profanities. Shortly after the incident, he issued an apology. Wallen faced backlash online and also from within the country music industry. Even though he was nominated for multiple Academy of Country Music Awards, Wallen was not included in the ceremony. In a statement released in early February 2021, the ACM announced it had barred 'Wallen's potential involvement and eligibility for this year's 56th Academy of Country Music Awards cycle.' The Country Music Association restricted his eligibility for awards, and Wallen was not allowed to attend the ceremony or any associated events. Wallen was also banned from attending the 2021 American Music Awards, and was not invited to the Billboard Music Awards despite earning six nominations. He was also dropped by his record label, and his music was banned from iHeartRadio. Representatives for the Recording Academy did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for more information.

Swifties slam Life of a Showgirl vinyl variant drop

Don't miss out on the headlines from Music. Followed categories will be added to My News. They made their queen a billionaire buying all of the tickets and the merch and the seemingly endless versions of her last album, but many Swifties aren't happy about the pop mogul's latest vinyl drop. Swift issued four different cover versions of her 12th album Life of a Showgirl when she launched the new record last week on the New Heights podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. While she insisted there would be no deluxe versions of this record, she did drop two vinyl 'variants' called 'The Shiny Bug Collection' on Tuesday featuring a revealing new cover photo. The Shiny Bug editions were offered in 'violet shimmer marbled' and 'wintergreen and onyx marbled' vinyl and sold out in less than an hour. Hot Hits pop guru Nic Kelly and Hit Network Workdays host Seany B, both mega-Swifties, issued a message to fans saying 'you don't need to buy this right now.' The hosts said the Shiny Bug vinyl variant drop was disappointing from an environmental perspective and placed financial pressure on diehard collectors who felt compelled to buy everything Swift was selling. The surprise announcements, with a limited window of time to pre-order the variants, meant 'no one was prepared' for the hit to their credit card. Seany B said fans were over-extending themselves on buy now, pay later services to purchase the coveted collector versions. The 'standard' version of Life of a Showgirl. 'There are so many kids out there, young people, they can't afford these … they're doing things that they shouldn't be doing to pay for these things because they feel like they need it,' the radio host said. Swift released at least 36 vinyl, CD, cassette and digital editions of her last record The Tortured Poets Department. Kelly said the strategy was to keep the record at No. 1 for as many weeks as possible but played on the desire of superfans to be seen as the biggest collectors of Swift's music and merchandise. One of the popular alternate covers for the new record. Picture: Instagram MORE: Swift's neighbours lose it over 'Taylor Tax' 'You don't have to buy all of them. And this was the thing that annoyed me around Tortured Poets Department, and annoyed some of the Swifties as well, it was (a new one) every week because she was trying to get that record for the most amount of weeks at No. 1,' he said. 'So when you release a new deluxe (version), a new track, a new variant, that adds towards the sales of the original album.' Seany B said he was against the vinyl variant strategy because 'I don't like what it does to the fandom.' And there were plenty of fans saying the same thing on social media. They were disappointed the Shake It Off star announced the vinyl variants instead of dropping a new single from the record. But wait, there's more Swift covers. Picture: Supplied '(I don't know) y'all kinda just gotta stop falling for this shit, it's always a vinyl variant,' one Reddit commenter said. 'Like I say this as a big fan, u gotta stop convincing yourself that a countdown on her store is anything other than merch or vinyls.' Another post called on fans to boycott any future vinyl versions of Life of a Showgirl that Swift may sell via her online store. 'You know, if we all collectively stopped buying this, maybe just maybe she'd stop pulling all these stunts!' the fan posted.
