Fabtech, Groupe M enter deal to offer products for nuclear energy sector
Fabtech Engineering, a steel fabrication specialist based at Dubai Industrial City, has entered a strategic agreement with French industrial leader Groupe M to accelerate innovation and sustainable development in the UAE's nuclear and sustainable energies sectors.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by Nicolas Niemtchinow, French Ambassador to the UAE; Anouar Mekkas, Nuclear and Renewable Energy Adviser at the French Ambassy in Saudi Arabia and the UAE; and, on behalf of Dubai Industrial City, Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President of Industrial at Tecom Group.
Fabtech Engineering's Chairman Dr Harry Moraes, and Vice President, Business Development Fabien Jeoffroy signed the agreement with Groupe M's Chairman Julien Monteiro and Deputy CEO Pierre-Laurent Buch. Also in attendance were representatives from the French Nuclear Strategic Committee, Business France, Trouvay Cauvin, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in UAE.
Fabtech is active in the heavy manufacturing segment in the GCC and global markets, and will expand its nuclear sector offering through the partnership with Groupe M, its 'Made in UAE' products to both local and international customers. The companies will develop comprehensive engineering, manufacturing, and on-site products and solutions to support the nuclear and sustainable energies sector, contributing to the long-term goals of UAE Energy Strategy 2050.
Pierre-Laurent Buch, Deputy CEO at Groupe M, said: 'This landmark agreement opens doors to exciting new opportunities in the Middle East and builds upon the robust ties between the UAE and France. Fabtech's strong presence in Dubai Industrial City, coupled with its expertise, aligns with Groupe M's growth strategy. We anticipate significant expansion in the region, particularly within the nuclear and new energy sectors, and will leverage our combined expertise to deliver high-value solutions to a broader client base.'
Fabien Jeoffroy, Vice President at Fabtech, said: 'This milestone partnership with Groupe M represents a pivotal moment in our growth strategy. Dubai Industrial City's world-class infrastructure, including an excellent road network designed for efficient transport of large-scale components, will be instrumental in our expansion journey. We are focused on innovation, particularly within the burgeoning low-carbon nuclear energy sector and aim to continue supporting environmentally responsible industrial growth through this partnership.'
Fabtech's collaboration with Groupe M will help address demand for locally sourced solutions and expedite site support operations. As part of the agreement, Fabtech will also upgrade its existing 2.1-million-sq-ft facility at Dubai Industrial City, in line with its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The agreement builds on strong economic ties between the UAE and France, with bilateral trade exchange between the countries growing 16.8% to reach AED29.4 billion in 2022.
Fabtech Engineering was established in 2010 at Dubai Industrial City to serve heavy engineering demand in sectors including energy, utilities, food and beverage, and chemicals. Its strategic alliance with Groupe M is expected to accelerate its growth following successful collaborations with energy sector partners.

The British and French-led effort to establish a 'coalition of the willing' to stand up to Russia and defend Ukraine just hit another major roadblock, as Bloomberg is reporting Wednesday the US has effectively vetoed a plan to provide American air defenses to back a 'reassurance force' for postwar Ukraine. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been insisting that US-backed air defenses are key to any future permanent settlement plans for ending the war. Western proposals for ending the war have all featured foreign-backed and monitored security guarantees for Ukraine. On this, Starmer had said back in February that 'There must be a US backstop' and that the 'US security guarantee is the only way to effectively deter Russia from attacking Ukraine again.' After Western billions already sunk into keeping Ukraine's military and civic infrastructure afloat, the UK and France are also seeking from President Trump pledges of future air power, and border surveillance and intelligence. The Europeans also envision a strong, permanent security bulwark backed by the United States along NATO's eastern flank. Yet, President Trump has repeatedly warned allies that if NATO countries don't pay their fair share they won't be protected. This despite European leaders as well as some US politicians expressing recent concern that the Atlantic alliance is becoming weaker than ever, and that Article 5 collective defense is in peril. Trump has lashed out at NATO countries for not even meeting their current two percent spending goal while the unfair burden has long fallen United States. 'We appreciate the work that the allies, particularly France and the United Kingdom together with Germany and others have undertaken to develop the coalition of the willing,' US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said at a press breifing Brussels on Wednesday. 'We are counting on all our European allies to continue taking the leadership position in contributing military resources and providing the political capital to make security guarantees a reality.' All of this comes as it was only on Tuesday that Dutch slapped down a proposal to increase defense spending to 3.5% of gross domestic product (GDP), key to NATO's capability targets, in a non-binding motion. Tamkeen Continues to Empower Bahrainis in Tech and Coding to Prepare the National Workforce for in-demand Jobs
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) partners with Reboot Coding Institute, backed by French educational platform 01Edu, to train 750 Bahrainis to continues its efforts in training Bahrainis in full-stack development. This partnership builds on the success of Tamkeen's collaboration with Reboot over the past two years which saw 350 Bahrainis join the institute's coding programs. Notably, sixty of Reboot's students secured quality job opportunities in the private sector, some of them succeeding to pursue a new career path in the tech sector from different backgrounds such as financial services, engineering, and others. Reboot Coding Institute offers specialized training programs spanning a two-year period with the purpose of empowering individuals who don't have tech skills to graduate as full-stack developers ready to enter the technology sector. This is done through an innovative training approach that utilizes 'learning by doing' and a project-based methodology. The training also focuses on employment readiness and matching the skills with the labor market requirements. Reboot also supports its students with job-matching by partnering with a number of private sector enterprises and hosting job fairs. Commenting on this, Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) emphasized Tamkeen's commitment to developing the national workforce in alignment with the fund's ultimate goal of making Bahrainis the employees of choice in the labor market.
