Millen man faces 25 years in prison for what prosecutors say he did to a disabled girl
Uriah Alexander Grant will spend up to 25 years in prison followed by a lifetime on probation as a sex offender, Augusta Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jared Williams announced July 3.
Grant was charged with aggravated sexual battery and first-degree cruelty to children.
'Justice has finally been achieved for such a vulnerable victim, and this predator is finally behind bars,' Assistant District Attorney Gabe Gonzalez-Acevedo said.
July 3 marked four years ago to the day that prosecutors say Grant forced himself on the girl, who testified in court about her memories of that night.
Already had a warrant: Bond denied in alleged sexual assault on mentally challenged teen
Assistant District Attorney Tom Watkins described the incident in court in 2021. He said Grant attended a party at the victim's home, but the victim wasn't taking part in the festivities. She was staying in her bedroom. The 17-year-old has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old, Watkins said.
The girl's mother, not having seen Grant at the party for some time, found him in the girl's room, lights out and his pants down, according to Watkins.
"The defendant originally admitted to sexually engaging with the victim but attempted to place the blame on the developmentally disabled child," Williams said in prepared remarks. "At trial, he changed his story and claimed he never touched her."
At the time of his arrest, Grant had been free on bond in a Burke County felony case. He faced charges of false imprisonment, family violence battery, obstruction of an officer and third-degree cruelty to children.

911 Call From Choreographer In Beyoncé-Related Car Break-In Released
911 audio has been revealed from the moment Beyoncé's choreographer called Atlanta emergency services to report their vehicle had been broken into. A brief clip was shared by NBC News, detailing part of the conversation that highlighted Christopher Grant's attempt to explain the magnitude of the break-in. 'Someone broke into my car,' Grant anxiously explained to the 911 dispatcher. 'I was parked in a garage while I went to a restaurant. But they stole, like my computers and everything, but it has the tracker on it.' He continued, 'They have my computers, and it's really, really important information in there…I work with someone who's like of a high status, and I really need the, um, my computer and everything.' In the call, Grant also informed the dispatcher that he had been tracking the stolen items using the Find My function installed on Apple products, and had been watching the devices move on the app. According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, law enforcement has identified a vehicle involved in the break-in as a 2025 Hyundai Elantra. The owner of the car informed the news outlet that the sedan was rented out through a private service. The Los Angeles Times reported that Atlanta police have secured an arrest warrant for a male believed to be involved in the crime. A statement on Monday (July 14) detailed, 'At this time, the suspect remains outstanding, and their identity is not yet available for release.' Grant and dancer Diandre Blue informed investigators that when thieves forced their way into their SUV rental, they stole two suitcases, jump drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music, footage plans for Queen Bey's live show, past and future set lists, and more. The theft happened last week ahead of the Houston native's Atlanta takeover for the COWBOY CARTER tour. 'Mr. Grant advised he was also carrying some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé,' elaborated the incident report. 'He advised he was her choreographer and Mr. Diandre Blue was a dancer for her and that her hard drives for her upcoming show in Atlanta were stolen also. The hard drives contained water marked music, some un-released music, footage plans for the show and past and future set lists,' the officer added in the police report.
