‘She decided to let him in': Documents reveal what led up to a stabbing, manhunt in Fernandina Beach
Action News Jax has learned more about the man at the center of a 7-hour manhunt in Nassau County.
45-year-old Ryan Daniel Nave is now behind bars without bond, charged with attempted second-degree murder.
It was a law enforcement search for Nave that left Fernandina Beach neighbors on edge Wednesday night.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said Nave stabbed a woman he knew after asking her for food. He is listed as homeless in the county's inmate log.
'The victim did not want to let him in the house. But he wanted something to eat, so she decided to let him in,' said Leeper.
The arrest warrant said Nave ran off after other people returned to the home.
Court documents detail the bloody scene that deputies found on Robin Hood Drive:
'A female victim, in a bedroom, with 9 major puncture wounds to her head, torso, arms, and legs,' and '13 defensive wounds on her arms and hands.'
'Obviously, it looks like he's got some mental issues too. He's well known in the area. He goes around. If you do what he did, he's nuts,' said Leeper.
Court records show Nave has been in prison twice before.
He served 13 months for each conviction in Nassau County: One in 2017 for burglary and one for possession of meth in 2018.
Along with his current mugshot, Action News Jax found two prior mugshots from Nassau County from earlier this year when he was arrested for trespassing.

Nave was found in a wooded area about a mile away from the house, after the Sheriff's Office said someone spotted him and called law enforcement.
Action News Jax was in Fernandina Beach throughout the search, and one neighbor said he believed he had seen Nave.
'I saw a gentleman on the left-hand side of the road coming out of a ditch,' said David Powell. Powell also said the man was covered in blood.
The victim, who has not been identified, was in critical condition at last check.

Smyth County bridge named for slain deputy
SMYTH COUNTY Va. (WJHL) — Monday marked ten months since Smyth County Deputy Hunter Reedy was killed in the line of duty. Virginia Gov. Glen Younkin signed a bill naming a Smyth County bridge in honor of Deputy Hunter D. Reedy. In a packed room at the Smyth County Sheriff's Office, Younkin said he hoped it would serve as a constant reminder of the sacrifice made. 'Deputy Reedy went to work to serve people in Smyth County, and he didn't come home,' Youngkin said. 'And it is so important that we stop for a minute and not only recognize the heroic work of our law enforcement personnel all over the Commonwealth but also their families.' The bridge, along State Route 11, or Adwolf Road, crosses over Interstate 81. The location wasn't randomly chosen. It's a special road, says Reedy's widow Bettina. 'This is a bridge that leads to the farm where we got married,' Bettina said. '(It leads to) where he was raised. It is a huge connection for us. And so for it to have that bridge. It is an honor.' Bettina and the couple's three children along with several other family members and dignitaries from across the Commonwealth were at Monday's ceremony, including Del. Israel O'Quinn and Attorney General Jason Miyares. Miyares said the ceremony was not just about Reedy's death, but his life. 'The impact to this community when we lost one of our heroes and not just honoring not just how he died, but how he lived every day protecting his fellow Virginian,' Miyares said. Smyth County Sheriff Chip Shuler called these past ten months a new normal for Smyth County- the time after 'evil came to their community.' 'We'll never be the same. Huge hole left in everybody's heart, plus our ranks,' Shuler said. 'So, yeah, we just try to go one day at a time. And we're moving forward. We're taking care of business like we're supposed to do.' 'One day at a time' is also how Bettina describes life, but through the sadness, she says she's still blessed with support from the governor and the community. 'Nobody's forgotten. We still have people with us and an outpouring of support, still,' she said. Local bikers looking for answers from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office after one of their own was severely injured in a hit-and-run
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Family and friends say they want justice for 27-year-old Morgan Gray. Gray was injured in a hit-and-run on her motorcycle on May 28th. She's in critical condition here at Doctors Hospital. And her loved ones say someone needs to be held accountable. The accident occurred just before 9 pm at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Frontage Road. Since this incident, bikers have been coming and forming a prayer circle in front of her window at the Hospital. 'We're Morgan Strong all day,' said Dalton Taylor, a Friend of Morgan. 'This little girl shouldn't be going through this all because of a hit and run. So, it's just pretty much just trying to get peace, get justice.' Summer Ivey, Morgan's cousin, has been working to obtain information from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office about the investigation but told me she feels she is getting the bare minimum from them. 'We've asked for updates. We've called, no reply,' said Summer Ivey, Morgans's Cousin. 'We've posted on social media. We've been loud. We've been doing prayer circles, just trying to be there for her. Her son needs her; her family needs her. Her friends, obviously, and we're just steadily going to fight.' The Sheriff's Office located the vehicle and its owner. The vehicle was a company vehicle. They are collecting evidence about the driver but are unable to say anything at this time. 'We have our suspicions, but there's a protocol that we follow,' said Major Robbie Silas, Special Operations Richmond County Sheriff's Office. 'I have a great team that is working tirelessly, you know, around the clock, trying to find the driver of this vehicle. Again, like I said, we are collecting evidence. The vehicle has been processed, and once we get all that, and we'll run that to the DA's office and let them see all the stuff that we have, and then we'll make those charges.' While they continue to seek answers about what happened and who is responsible, they have this solution to keep drivers on both four- and two-wheels safe. 'Regardless of what the situation is. We're on two wheels. Pay attention,' said Taylor. They have a GoFundMe for Morgan Grey. 1 dead, at least 2 others hurt after homemade fireworks cause explosion at Ohio home
A man is dead and two others are hurt after homemade fireworks reportedly caused an explosion at a home in Trumbull County over the weekend, according to our CBS affiliate WOIO-19 TV. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The explosion occurred at a home in the 500 block of East Montrose Street in Liberty Township before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty Township firefighters found heavy damage when they arrived on scene, but they couldn't find what caused the explosion. A report from the fire department states that crews found three victims and one was stilled trapped inside the house. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office told WOIO-19 that the occupants made homemade fireworks inside, which possibly caused the explosion. WOIO-19 obtained the following statement from the State Fire Marshal Office: The Ohio State Fire Marshal urges everyone to not try to make homemade fireworks or tamper with fireworks they have purchased. This incident is a tragic reminder of how dangerous this can be. The chemical mixtures and materials used in fireworks are extremely volatile and dangerous. When it comes to manufacturing fireworks, its best to leave it to the professionals.
